Educated Consumer Project (ECP), is seeking dynamic and motivated university undergraduates to apply for the position of Classroom

Leader for its Fall 2007 Financial Literacy Program at one of four DC-area public or charter high schools. ECP (www.ecponline.org) is a non-profit organization in the DC-area that brings financial literacy programs to local high schools in the form of interactive after-school sessions taught by ECP Classroom Leaders. The need for these programs is clear, as prior to ECPs presence; fewer than onethird of DC-area high schools had any financial education classes for their students. ECP completed its pilot program at McKinley Technology High School during the 2006-2007 school year. Due to ECPs tremendous success and community support at McKinley Tech this past year, our programs have expanded to serve the three additional schools listed above for the Fall of 2007. The ECP curriculum consists of a series of sessions on topics ranging from credit cards and banks to savings and investing. The full program session will run from late September to late November, in eight consecutive weekly sessions. Classroom Leaders will be tasked with; o Creating weekly lesson plan based on provided financial education materials o Teaching/Engaging in discussion on material for 60-90 sessions once a week to students in grades 10 through 12 o Demonstrating excellent communication skills, energy, and comfort with teaching topics in personal finance, financial practices and other related materials o Participate in ECP Classroom Leader training sessions, in which ECP will provide familiarity with curriculum materials, teaching methods, impact of financial education program and a deeper understanding of organizational goals. *This is an unpaid position, however, travel is reimbursed and it is an excellent opportunity to make an impact on the lives of local high school students Benefits of serving as an ECP Classroom Leader;
