Technical Performance of HD4810-5 and HD4810-51

HD4810-5 and HD4810-51 are rectifier modules developed by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., with the rated output of 48V/10A. They are different in structure: HD4810-5 is vertical while HD4810-51 is horizontal. They feature same basic operating theories and specifications. The commonness of HD4810-5 and HD4810-51, represented by HD4810-5 (51) are described in the following.

1.2.1

Basic Operating Theory

Basic operating theory of HD4810-5 (51) is illustrated in Figure H-3:
Output rectifying/ Filtering circuit DC output

AC input EMI

Full bridge rectification

DC/DC Converter

PWM Control circuit

Figure H-3

Basic operating theory of HD4810-5 (51) rectifier module

The single-phase AC power is first input through EMI filtering circuit, which enables two functions: 1) To prevent the line peak voltage caused by other related equipment (such as thysristor) or due to the lightning strike from damaging the rectifier module. 2) To prevent the rectifier module from feeding high-frequency disturbance caused in switching modulation to the power network. In addition, a surge current suppressing circuit is provided in the AC input circuit to reduce the surge from the power supply to the power network and to protect against lightning strike, thus the reliability of power supply is greatly improved. 1. DC-DC Circuit DC-DC main circuit adopts the topology of single-end flyback structure. The control circuit adopts pulse width modulation (PWM) control mode, in which the pulse width of power transistor is automatically regulated according to the load, high-voltage DC current is inverted to the pulse voltage whose width is regulated. After the pulse is rectified and filtered, stable DC voltage is output. The circuit

adopts advanced switching technologies such as lossless ZVS and ZCS, thus the switching loss is greatly lowered and the efficiency reaches up to 87%. 2. Load-sharing technology HD4810-5 (51) module adopts advanced low-difference active load sharing technology. When multiple HD4810 rectifier modules are operating in parallel, they enable a good load sharing performance. The operating theory is illustrated in Figure H-4. Each module load-sharing unit samples its own output current via a uniform amplying factor in order to form a sampling voltage. After comparing all sampling voltage, the highest one is selected as the reference voltage VBUS on the current sharing bus. The module corresponding to the reference voltage is called master module, and it has the highest output current. Other modules are called slave modules. The reference voltage passes into respective current sharing unit of each module via current sharing bus, and controls the switch pulse width of DC/DC converter of the module after the difference comparison and amplification with its sampling voltage, then enables the output currents tending to be uniform by regulating the output voltage of all the modules. When EC is balanced, the output current of the slave modules is very close to that of the master module and current difference is tending to zero. Advantages of this current sharing method are in two aspects: 1) Load is well shared with imbalance less than 3%, which is better than ministry standard 5%. 2) The master rectifier module is arbitrarily generated through comparison. When the master module stops working for some reason, the system will compare automatically to generate another module with the largest output current as the master module and re-adjust the output current to reach new balance. Thus, the system breakdown caused by module failure can be avoided.

Technical Performance Of PSM - 8 and PSM - 81

Difference between PSM-8 and PSM-81: Monitor module PSM-81 is designed on the basis of monitor module PSM-8. Their performances (including the interfaces) excluding their dimensions are fully same. With good detecting and control functions, Monitor module PSM-82 can detect the operating states of power supply system in real-time and control the rectifier module with the detecting parameters, which satisfy the maintenance requirements of battery group and make sure the safety and reliable work of the PS4840-2B/10 power supply system. Visual/audible alarm can be sent out when rectifier module is abnormal or other faults occur. The monitor module PSM-82 also has communication and report functions. It can communicate with background host and accept the inquiry, setup and control and report the detected signal to background host to realize centralized management through RS232 or RS422 port according to PSM 82 Monitor Module and Its

Communication Protocol with Host.

Functions of Monitor Modules

1. Communication Between Monitor Module And Background Host One of important features of PSM-82 is to communicate with host. PSM-82 provides a RS232 and a RS422 port to host and communicate with the host according to PSM 82 Monitor Module and Its Communication Protocol with Host. The main functions: (1) Sending real time analog data from the monitoring unit to the host. (2) Sending real time digital data from the monitoring unit to the host. (3) Send the current state and alarm of the power supply system to the host. (4) Accept the system parameters configuration instructions. (5) Accept the instructions sent by the host, such as equalized/floating charge switch and smoke sensor reset instructions. Since the relationship between the host and the monitor module is that of master and slave, besides the alarm information is reported actively by the monitor module, the other processes such as reading, setting and controlling are start by the host, and the monitor module is always in the slave state. The monitor module won't report other data to the host without the instructions of the host. The analog values acquired by the host from the monitor module: busbar voltage, ambient temperature, ambient humidity, one branch circuit of reserved analog values, current of battery group 1, current of battery group 2, current of user module and current of transfer module. The digital values acquired by the host from the monitor module: two reserved high-level alarm states, AC mains supply over/under voltage, AC mains supply available/unavailable, fault of 4 rectifiers, alarm of water logging sensor, a reserved input low-level alarm state, infrared /magnetic door alarm, smog and fog alarm, transfer module power off, user module power off, fuse state of battery group 2, fuse state of battery group1, DC under voltage, equalize/float discharge state of battery, current-limiting state of 28A, On/Off state of transfer module, On/Off state of user module, and On/Off states of four rectifier modules. The alarm state acquired by the host from the monitor module: A reserved input digital value state, AC mains supply over/under voltage, AC mains supply available/unavailable, fault signals of four rectifier modules, water logging alarm, infrared/magnetic door alarm, transfer module power off, user module power off, fuse state of battery group 2, fuse state of battery group 1, DC under voltage,

reserved values, overlimit of ambient temperature, and overlimit of ambient humidity. The setup parameters sent by the host to the monitor module are: voltage for disconnection of transfer module, voltage for disconnection of user module, current-limiting state of 28A, temperature alarm upper limit, temperature alarm lower limit, temperature sensor measurement lower limit, temperature sensor measurement upper limit, humidity alarm upper limit, humidity alarm lower limit, humidity sensor measurement lower limit, humidity sensor measurement upper limit, reserved capacity alarm upper limit, reserved capacity alarm lower limit, reserved values measurement lower limit, and reserved values measurement upper limit. The control commands sent by the host to the monitor module:

disconnection/connection of master load, disconnection/connection of slave load, disconnection/connection of rectifier module 4, disconnection/connection of rectifier module 3, disconnection/connection of rectifier module 2,

disconnection/connection of rectifier module 1, and current-limiting control. 2. Control Functions PSM-8 can send control signal according to detected values or the control commands sent by the host. (1) The host sends On/Off command of the rectifier module to the monitor module according to the rectifier module alarm signal sent by the monitor module and users requirements. Upon receiving the On/Off command, the monitor module enables On/Off of the corresponding rectifier module. (2) The host sends 28A current-limiting signal. The monitor module controls the state of current-limiting of 28A via the instructions. (3) The host sends user module power on/off and transfer module on/off commands to the monitor module according to users requirements. The monitor module sends corresponding control signals to control the power on/off of the user module and of the transfer module. When all rectifier modules are not powered, the monitor module disconnects the user module and transfer module at differently time according to the voltage of the busbar. When the voltage of the busbar is lower than the power off voltage of the user module, the user module will be disconnected.; when it is lower than the power off voltage of the transfer

module, the transfer module will be disconnected. When the rectifier module is powered, the transfer module and user module will be connected. (4) Conduct equalized charge once if the two groups of batteries have operated for 60 days in mode of continuous floating charge, and conduct equalized charging if the charging power recovers after the power have been off for longer than15 minutes. 3. Detecting Functions PSM-8 monitor module can detect AC power distribution cabinet, modules, and DC power distribution cabinet and environment values. (1) AC power distribution cabinet PSM-8 can monitor AC mains available/unavailable state, AC mains over/under-voltage state. (2) Rectifier module Detect the fault state and on/off states of 4 rectifier modules. (3) DC power distribution--Bus-bar voltage, current of user load, current of transfer load, fuse state of user load, fuse state of transfer load, current of battery group 1, current of battery group 2, fuse state of battery group 1 and fuse state of battery group 2. (4) Environment values-- Environment temperature and humidity, smoke and fog alarm, infrared/magnetic door alarm and water-immersing sensor alarm according to the installation of sensors. Of the above detected values, bus-bar voltage, ambient temperature, humidity, current of modules, battery current, current of user load, current of transferring load are all analog values, others are digital values. 4. Power Failure Protection Functions When the power failure occurs in the monitor module, the configuration parameters and control state that have already been set remain unchanged. If the user wants to use the default parameters, he can short circuit the No.1 and 2 pins of J4 on the M1441U1 printed board of the monitoring module and the default configured values can recover after the system is powered on again.

Technical Performance of PS4840/10

PS4840/10 power supply system is used for small program controlled exchange, access network, transmission equipment, mobile communication, terrestrial stations of satellite communication and microwave communication equipment as well as other communication equipment.

1.2.1

Basic Operating Theory (PD220/60AD is configured)

As shown in Figure P1-1, Operating with one AC mains input, the AC&DC Power Distribution Cabinet feeds AC power to rectifier module. The DC output power of rectifier module is converged to the bus-bar through DC backboard. The DC output provides two DC output branch circuit and two branch circuits of battery for user. Under normal condition, operating according to preset parameters or customer instructions and monitoring each kind of state and data, the rectifier module, battery circuit and the load are all controlled by monitor module. If AC mains 1 failure occurs, the system changes to AC mains 2 to supply power automatically. If two branches AC mains fails at the same time, the battery connected with the system powers the load with a premise that the battery must be connected before power failure occurs. Under the conditions that the AC mains fail and the battery begins to discharge, the monitor unit reports the signal of AC mains unavailable. With the discharge of battery, battery terminal voltage begins to drop and when it drops below 46V, (2V higher than the voltage for secondary LVD), the monitor module will report DC under-voltage alarm signal. When the battery voltage reaches 44V due to discharging, battery protection circuit loop acts for the first time (secondary LVD) and disconnects the user load; When the battery discharges to the end of discharge voltage 41V, battery protection circuit loop acts for the second time (battery protection) disconnects the battery and the transfer load, and enables automatic battery protection (The LVD order of the above loads is the default value for monitoring. The user can allocate high priority load and low priority load according to the above order to connect the low priority load to the user load interface and the high priority load to the transfer load interface in order to ensure that the low priority load will be disconnected and then the high priority load be disconnected in case of LVD). When the AC mains supply recovers, the system restores to normal work.
