The Constitution of San Gabriel High School Future Business Leaders of America

Article 1. NAME
The name of this club shall be the “FBLA".

Article 2. PURPOSE
The purpose of this club shall be to educate students about business and leadership
with many activities.

Article 3. MEMBERSHIP
Section 1. Membership in this club will be open to any interested students at San
Gabriel High School that have fulfilled the requirements as set by the advisor.

Article 4. MEMBERSHIP DUES


Section 1. Members must pay an annual membership fee of $10 due to any officer no
later than the date set by the president of the club.

Article 5. EVENTS
Section 1. Any person attending an event must be a valid member or have
permission.
Section 2. Any person attending an event must agree to this club constitution and
bylaws.
Section 3. Any person attending events must waive the right to legal action against
this club or any members of this club for any reason.

Article 6. OFFICERS
Section 1. The officers of this club shall be the: President, Vice President of General
Operations, Vice President of Membership, Vice President of Competitive Events,
Treasurer, Secretary and the Public Relations officer.
The creation of additional officer positions must be approved by the advisor.
Section 2. Only students may serve as officers.

Article 7. OFFICER RULES


Section 1. All officers shall be elected before the end of the school year and will
serve a term from September to June of the year following their election.
Section 2. Officer elections will consist of the following three step process: 1.
nominations, 2. elections, 3. run-off elections (if needed)
A. Nominations - Nominations will be held during a prior scheduled date
compared to the elections. Any active club member may nominate a fellow
club member to any of the club officer positions.
B. Elections - Elections will consist of each candidate speaking for one
minute, followed by up to three minutes of questions and answers from the
club membership. Only active members present shall cast a vote, and only
these votes shall count toward the computation of the 50%+1 required
margin for election to office.
Section 3. In the event that an officer is judged to be deficient in his/her duties (as
decided by a unanimous agreement of the advisor), he/she may be removed.
Section 4. Any officer may resign at anytime with written notice to the President or
the Vice President and a new election must be held within two weeks.

Article 8. ADVISOR
Section 1. The Club Advisor must be a full-time San Gabriel High School faculty
member or administrator.
Section 2. The Club Advisor's duties shall include:
A. Meeting with the club officers when needed..
B. Attending activities
Section 3. The Advisor shall be a full member of the club, and has full voting rights,
and veto power used only in circumstances where the officers to violate school
policy

Article 9. MEETINGS
Section 1. The club shall meet according to a scheduled listing of meeting dates
shall be established by the officers and notice will be provided to member thought
the bulletin.
Section 2. In the event that an emergency meeting of the club needs to be held, the
President of the club shall have the authority to call such meetings and at least 24
hours notice must be provided to all active members.

Article 10. AMENDMENTS


Section 1. Amendments may be made to this constitution at any time by a
required margin by a vote of the active club members.
Section 2. Members interested in proposing amendments to the constitution must
submit the proposed amendment to the President no later than six days before the
club's next meeting.
Section 3. The proposed amendment shall be presented to the active club on paper
no later than five days before the meeting where the amendment will be debated.
Section 4. Upon receiving a two-thirds affirmative vote in favor on a constitutional
amendment/revision, the President shall submit the amendment/revision in writing to
the Student Activities Office for review/approval.
