Current System:Life line Health Management System currently uses a robust document Based system at their super-specialty hospital to maintain patient Records and activities. Front Desk Officers and medical staff together Maintain a list of all the patients registered with the hospital and Record all patient related activities such as appointments with doctors, Out patients visits, pharmacy and laboratory testing services on traditional ledger based system. However, the senior management has been proactive in understanding That they need to enable their super specialty hospital along with rest Of their centers by using simple and effective Information Technology Systems.

Life line Health Management Systems medical officers and directors arranged a discussion and the following points surfaced: Life line Health Management System needs a simple system to maintain patient registration and daily activities.

The system needs to cater to a high volume of patients. Also the centers are located at geographically diverse locations,

Life Line Hospital MNGT the system needs to have a central repository to maintain all patient data. The system must have a high response time. The system should be easy to learn. Most of staff is used to working with paper documents and the amount of training involved should be minimal.

ENVISIONED SYSTEM :
The management suggests development of a computerized system that can take care of routine activities for a patient management. The technical staff put across the following guidelines: The system will be internet enabled. Since transactions are spread across the world, they should be carried with respect to the local time zones. A central database will store information for the following entities in the system: Patients Doctors Pharmacy Available Rooms

the administrative employees of Life line Hospital to view and update information related to various aspects of the hospital, such as: Patient Details like Inpatient, Outpatient Services provided like lab services ,wards services. Doctors Details like children specialist ,general specialist Pharmacy like medical services

Hardware and Software Requirement Specifications:

Hardware: A node with PIII processor (800 MHz or higher), SCSI Hard disk of 20GB, 256MB RAM, CDROM and 1-10/100 Mbps network card. Software: .NET: C# language with ADO.NET (FRONT END) SQL SERVER 2005 (BACK END)

ADMINISTRATOR

Administrators: Are responsible for maintaining master data such as the list of doctors, list of patients, list of medicines ,list of wards for the hospital are given authorization for the following categories. They can be further divided in the following categories: Patients Registration. Doctor Details Room Allotment

Patient Registration:In-patients: In-patients are admitted in the hospital and are under continuous supervision by medical staff. They need to register and are given a unique id. Room will be allotted to them on the basis of availability. Out-patients: Unlike in-patients, out-patients are not under continuous supervision of medical personnel or staff .They need to take an appointment ,they will be given a token number based on which he can get an appointment with the required doctor.

DOCTOR DETAILS:Doctors are categorized into different specializations: Cardiologist Neurologist Child Specialist

They are further divided into 2 types: Junior Staff Senior Staff Based on their experience.

Room Allotment:Rooms are of 3 types General Private ICU Based on the requirement and availability the inpatients are allotted the rooms. Once the rooms are allotted the status of that particular room is set to F .

In this module the list of all the medicines are stored along with their manufacturing date and expiry date along with their cost.

New medicines can also be inserted in the database. Details of the medicines bought by the patient are stored along with the patient id.
