INTRODUCTION High dietary fat is a risk factor for hypercholesterolemia, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular diseases and obesity. This can affect the absorption of cholesterol synthesis, synthesis of biliary acids, number and activity of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptors (Ros, 2000). It has been shown that not only the amount of fat consumed but also the type of fatty acid influences the serum cholesterol (Parveen et al., 1995). The ingestion of polyunsaturated fatty acids present in vegetable oils is inversely related to the incidence of heart diseases by decreasing cholesterol and triacylglycerol plasmatic levels (Zheng et al., 2001). It leads to the reduction of cholesterol levels, which is mainly Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL). Hyperlipidemia or high levels of serum triacylglycerol (TG) and cholesterol is a risk factor for premature atherosclerosis, which is the underlying cause of heart attack, stroke and peripheral vascular diseases. These diseases can be viewed as a form of chronic inflammation that is induced and perturbed by lipid accumulation (Ruili et al., 2006).Changes in the diet in terms of fatty acid content can have a marked effect on the lipid profile of blood and ultimately in the prevention of vascular disease.

According to Some previous studies estrogen and folic acid are known to reduce the risk of atherosclerosis. Estrogen has been proven to counteract hepatic lipoprotein receptor suppression, reduced plasma VLDL- and increased plasma HDL-cholesterol levels, and to a large extent abolishes the development of atherosclerosis. While folic acid reduces the risk of Atherosclerosis through declining the homocystein level in blood.

The role of estrogen and folic acid in counteracting atherosclerosis in rat is still a matter of controversy particularly when we think about their formulations to the diet or therapy. Therefore. the work has been undertaken with the aim to fix the proper doses of these agents either in the diet or in therapeutic intervention.

List of objectives followed by methodology:

To detect the effects of oestrogen in producing cardiovascular diseases like atherosclerosis after causing hypercholesteromia. To detect the effects of oestrogen in producing lithiastic diseases/calcification after causing hypercalcemia. MATERIALS AND METHODS Samples: The laboratory animals (rats) will be collected from ICDDR,B. About 100 rats will be collected from ICDDR,B and grouped into three groups. Detection of Cholesterol and Calcium Level after Induction Low, Moderate and High Doses of Oestrogen: Oestrogen, cholesterol and calcium level of the three grouped rats will be measured separately. Then oestrogen of low, moderate and high doses will be injected IM to three grouped rats respectively. Then oestrogen, cholesterol and calcium level of the three grouped rats will be measured separately after 1 month.

Histopathology of Bone and Artery: Histopathology of bone and artery of randomly collected rats of the three grouped rats will be done to detect hypercalcification and atherosclerosis respectively.

TIME FRAME AND RESULT

Name of the Task Duration Sample (rats) collection and preparation 2 months Detection of cholesterol and calcium level after induction low, 3 months moderate and high doses of oestrogen Histopathology of bone and artery 2 months Result analysis 2 months Thesis writing 3 months Total 12 months

CONTRIBUTION AND SOCIO-ECONOMY The successful completion of this research would provide up-to-date tools and technology for successful detection of causes of cardiovascular diseases and lithiastic diseases of men and animals. It also helps to prevent such kinds of diseases that may save a lot of valuable human lives and economic losses.
