Co, DPA Dean Professor National College of Public Administration and Governance University of the Philippines Diliman (UP - NCPAG) Thru: Julliano Fernando A. Guiang Chairperson NCPAG Student Government From: Cesar G. Bugaoisan Jr., BS RT, CRT, DipPM President / Course Director RE: Free Lay Fora on Basic Life Support (CPR) Greetings from ARCPP! In conjunction with our celebration of the 18th National Respiratory Care Week, with the theme Respiratory Therapist : Isang Dekada ng Pagkakaisa, Pinagbuklod ng iisang Diwa para sa Malusog na Baga We, as the national organization of Respiratory Therapist in the Philippines are committed in promoting awareness cardiopulmonary healthcare. Having diseases of the heart and lungs as the common causes of morbidity and mortality in the country, we opt to increase citizen participation & consciousness in the prevention of these lifestyle diseases. The Basic Life Support Lay Fora entitled Wag ka lang UZI, Makialam ka!, (A Free Basic Life Support Program for the Lay Year 2) is a program geared towards educating the common tao as an active participant in life saving measures particularly in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). It is common in our community that people tend to become passive onlookers (coined as UZI - usisero/usisera in the local language) in times of health crisis, rather than becoming active life-savers of the scene. Studies show that the early application of CPR increases a persons rate of survival by at least 75 - 80% of all out of hospital cardiac arrest, therefore, knowing CPR can mean the difference between life and death.

attention/help is inaccessible, or at least, until medical help arrives at the scene. In cooperation with the NCPAG SG, We hope to involve 100 to 150
