4.

RESERVATION AND RELAXATION

4.1 (a) Reservation of Seats for Scheduled Caste/Tribe Candidates Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes seeking admission to the 1st year of the respective course will be required to get their names registered at any one of the registration centres viz. (a) Arts Faculty North Campus (b) South Campus (Office of the Dy. Dean, Students' Welfare) (c) Shyam Lal College, Shahadra (d) Rajdhani College (Raja Garden) during the period commencing from May 28th to June 8th, 2011 (9.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. each day excluding Sundays).

In case, after giving 5% relaxation, the reserved seats still remain vacant, further relaxation would be given to the extent required in order to fill up all the reserved seats.

For purpose of registration the candidates will be required to apply on a prescribed form available at the Registration Centres, along with the Original certificates as well as two self attested Photostat copies thereof. The candidates are required to bring the SC/ST certificate issued in their own name.

22 % of the total number of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes (15% for Scheduled Caste and 7% for Scheduled Tribes, interchangeable, if necessary). It is a statutory obligation on the part of Colleges to fill all seats reserved for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates, as per allotment made by the University. The Colleges shall not refuse admission to any SC/ ST candidate on the basis of medium of instruction. Any deficiency in the knowledge of any particular language should be removed, remedial classes for which may be arranged by utilizing grants that are available from University Grants Commission. The College should not transfer the seats reserved for category of candidates given above till a communication is received by the Colleges to this effect from the University. Candidates belonging to both these categories, who have passed the last qualifying examination, would be registered. Such candidates however shall be required to fulfill the requirements of admission as detailed in the foregoing pages. Relaxation to the extent of 5% in the minimum marks will be given to the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes to determine their eligibility and merit for admission to the course concerned.

Note : (i) SC/ST students who get admission under open merit will not be included in the reserved quota i.e. 22.5%. (ii) SC/ST/PH candidates can also seek admission on their own merit as applicable for the general category. However, they are entitled for other benefits as available to such categories.

4.1 (b) Reservation of Seats for Other Backward Classes (OBC) 27% seats will be reserved for the candidates beloning to OBC. The admission of the OBC candidates during the Academic Year 2011-12 shall be made in the following manner : i. The intake in each course as calculated for the Academic Year 2010-11 will remain unchanged. Out of the total number of seats, reservations of seats will be as follows : 27% OBC, 15 % SC, 7.5% ST and the remaining seats will go to General Category. At the time of giving admission to an OBC candidate, the College will ensure that 1. Certificate is in the name of the candidate: 2. The caste is including in the Central List of OBC: 3. The certificate mentions non-creamy layer status of the candidate; iii. The College shall enforce this policy: The will simultaneously bring out a separate cutoff for the OBC category. The difference between the General and OBC cutoffs shall not be more than 10%. iv. If the seats meant for OBC remain vacant on the last date for admission i.e. 13/07/2011 the same will be filled up by other eligible candidate by 23/07/2011.

(Above categories are also applicable for Para military personnel); Such candidates will be required to get their names registered for Science Courses at the Faculty of Science, North Campus, University of Delhi and other than Science Courses at Room No. 220, New Administrative Block, North Campus, University of Delhi (between May 28th, 2011 to June 8th, 2011 from 10.00 P.M. to 1.00 P.M. excluding Sundays). Relaxation to the extent of 5% in the minimum marks in the aggregate or in the subject, as the case may be, will be given to the candidates of the above mentioned categories while determining their eligibility to the course concerned. For purpose of registration, the candidates are required to submit their applications on a prescribed form available at the Registration Centre, along with two self-attested Photostat copies as well as the originals of the required certificates which will be returned to them after endorsement on the reverse of the original certificates. In order to become eligible for the above concessions, the Children/ Widows/Wives of the Officers and Jawans etc. will be required to submit the certificate of educational concessions (in original) from anyone of the following authorities:

4.2 Reservation for Armed Forces 5% of the seats in each course have to be offered to the Children/Widows/Wives of Officers and Men of the Armed Forces including Para-Military Personnel, in the following order of preference: i. ii. Widows/Wards of Defence personnel killed in action; Wards of serving personnel and ex-servicemen disabled in action;

Note: For additional concessions, students are advised to contact the Principals of Colleges. 4.3

Reservation of Seats for Physically Challenged Candidates 3% seats are reserved for the physically challenged candidates for admission to under-graduate Courses. Physically challenged candidates who secure admission on merit in the General Category should not be counted in the 3% quota. The modalities for admission are enclosed vide Appendix-I.

iii. Widows/Wards of Defence personnel who died in peace time with death attributable to military service; iv. v. Wards of Defence personnel disabled in peace time with disability attributable to military service; Wards of Ex-servicemen personnel and serving personnel including police personnel who are in receipt of Gallantry Awards;

Registration of the Physically Challenged candidates will be done only at the Office of the Dean, Students Welfare (North Campus) from 9.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. between 28th May 2011 to 8th June 2011. Prescribed Application Forms will be available at the same office.

4.7 Sports Quota i) It should be mandatory for all the Colleges to provide sports facilities in their respective Colleges and encourage all students to participate in sports and extra curricular activities by introducing inter class competitions and mass sports. The existing provision of not more than 5% sports and ECA quota (subject- wise) be continued. The Colleges should be free to decide the actual number of seats to be filled on sports basis (not more than 5%) keeping in view the facilities available, requirement of the College and other relevant factors.

4.4 Reservation of Seats for Foreign Students At least 5% seats in the first year of each course in Colleges are reserved for foreign students. However, this reservation will not be open to those foreign students who have passed the qualifying examination for purposes of admission to the University from an Indian Board/University in India including Indian Boards like CBSE located in a foreign country. All foreign candidates seeking admission to B.A./B.A. (Vocational Studies)/B.Com/B.Sc.(G) Mathematical Sciences / B.A. (Hons). / B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics and Statistics, B.Com (Hons)., B.Sc. (Hons.) and B.Sc. Physical Sciences / including restructured courses and satisfying the marks requirements for the course, are requirement to apply to Deputy Dean (Foreign Students), C/o Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi-110007. No foreign student shall be admitted to a college without the prior approval of the Deputy Dean (Foreign Students) University of Delhi. 4.5 Nepalese/Bhutanese Students Relaxation to the extent of 5% in the minimum marks will be given to the nominees of Nepal Government/Royal government of Bhutan to determine their eligibility for admission to the course concerned. However, this relaxation is not applicable vis a vis the cut off scores announced by the Colleges for admission purposes. 4.6 Sikkimese Students The number of seats as detailed below are reserved for students from Sikkim only in Colleges where hostel facilities are available. iii) The candidates who have participated in International/ National level be given direct admission. iv) A Weightage of 75% be given to the certificates/ achievements of the candidate's best performance of the last three years as submitted by the student and weightage of 25% be given on field trial. v) Every College should have Sports Admission Committee of not more than five members with Principal of the College as its Chairperson and the Teacher(s) In-charge (sports) as member(s).

vi) The number of seats (course-wise) proposed to be filled by the Colleges on the basis of sports will have to be communicated to the University Sports Council well in advance. vii) Trial should be organized centrally in the University by the DU sports Council. The Director Sports Council will ensure smooth conduct of the trials under the overall supervision of the Chairman, Sports Council. For this purpose, a notification indicating the schedule of trials of different games will be notified to all the Colleges of the University Sports Council (USC). (Final decision with regards to conduct of trials will be intimated by the University separately). viii) Each college will send the list of eligible candidates along with the marks as per the table set out here in to the USC for trial before a date as decided by USC. ix) In order to follow a transparent system, the Coaches/ experts for trials be appointed by the University Sports Council.
