Teach For Malaysia is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that is enlisting Malaysias most promising future leaders in our mission to end education inequity. Teach For Malaysia participants will serve as full-time teachers for two years in high-need secondary schools, and commit to transform the education outcomes of less-privileged schoolchildren, through significantly improving their achievements and aspirations. In the long term, Teach For Malaysia alumni will form a different class of leaders, working in various sectors to expand education opportunity for all children in Malaysia. In preparation for the first cohort of participants, Teach for Malaysia is now seeking to hire Leadership Development Officers who will manage approximately 10 participants and lead them to establish ambitious and inspiring vision and goals, plan purposefully, and engage in data-based problem solving to increase student achievement. In the near term, Leadership Development Officers work with participants to ensure that their students realize their vision and achieve their academic goals, impacting the lives of hundreds of students. In the long term, Leadership Development Officers impact ensures that participants become alumni who are effective stewards of the movement to eliminate Malaysias educational inequity. Leadership Development Officers gain valuable management and instructional leadership. Key responsibilities

Support a portfolio of 10 participants to define and work towards ambitious outcomes in their classrooms in terms of student achievement and aspirations Build relationships with participants and invest them in their goals and their potential impact Coach and develop participants to establish the foundations of their classrooms: vision and ambitious goals, strategic plans and rigorous assessments Visit participants in their classrooms, analyse participants plans, assessments and classroom data to: o Measure progress towards goals; o Prioritise the teacher actions that most impact pupil progress; o Help participants to identify and develop strategies to address their developmental needs Monitor participants satisfaction and retention Identify and develop retention strategies for participants at risk of leaving the programme Build team spirit amongst participants Lead and mentor participants to gain the insight and commitment to transition into our Ambassador movement as leaders continuing to address educational disadvantage beyond the 2 year programme Ensure that the roles of different stakeholders in placement schools are clearly defined and communicated Build strong relationships with school leaders and school based mentors to facilitate effective school placements and establish lasting partnerships Ensure all data on participants and their schools is accurate and kept up to date

Analyse data to inform future decisions on training and/or selection of participants Act as the regional contact for participants by effectively communicating messages to and from Teach for Malaysia relevant to each participant, and ensuring participant surveys are completed Support participants to build investment in the region, cohort, and the Teach for Malaysia mission

Education and Experience At least 2 years teaching experience (Schools in challenging circumstances preferred) Bachelors Degree Fluency in Bahasa Malaysia preferred Excel experience preferred Coaching experience beneficial

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Belief in the organisations mission Excellent communication skills A good team player but also ability to work under own initiative to meet deadlines Influencing and motivating colleagues and stakeholders with confidence, assertiveness, and humility Strong organisational skills and the ability to assess, prioritise and manage a varied workload Excellent time management skills Exceptional relationship-building skills; the ability to establish effective working relationships with people of all working styles, backgrounds, industry-experience, etc. Approaches work with initiative, drive, flexibility and a sense of urgency
