Introduction
Courier logistics is an third party logistics application to automate the existing working environment among the various courier and logistics service providing firms. The automation provides courier and logistics services for customers such as customer management, rate management, in-scanning and outscanning of products to be serviced, file uploading, manifesting and also provides the exceptions. Courier and logistics officer is the administrator who maintains details of the customers and their shipments as well as the companys management process.
Purpose
This is the Software Requirement Specification (SRS) for the system of Courier Logistics. The purpose of this document is to convey information about the application requirements, both functional and non-functional to the reader.
Description of the environment in which the application is expected to operate. Definition of the applications capabilities. A specification of the applications functional and non-functional requirements.
First, the client for the project i.e., the courier & logistics officer is expected to review this document. The Software Requirement Specification (SRS) will serve to establish a basis for agreement software the client and development team about the functionality to be provided by the application.
Second, is anticipated that the application designers will use the SRS. Designers will use the information reworded here as the basis for creating the application design.

Third, test planners will use their document to derive test plans and test cases. Fourth, the project manages will use this document during project planning and monitoring. Finally, the application maintainers will review the document to
Scope
The intention of this software development project is to create a new application called courier logistics . The courier & logistics automation will be web enabled; allowing users to use this document depicts the functional details and rules involved in the development of courier & logistics system. This Application will: Be accessed through Internet and Intranet. Allows administrator to maintain information about customers, products and air way bill number. Benefits of the application: Provides to maintain bulk of records. Provides quick service without any delay. Courier logistics provides individual airway bill number(AWB) for each product such that customers transaction is fully secured. Increases the availability and provide flexible and convenient way of accessing the information about product and its status where as in manual its difficult task..

Administrator: -- Administrator refers to courier & logistics officer having full rights to provide or restrict to any department or employee to the functionality of the project. The administrator keeps track of the customers. Consignment (Shipment): shall mean goods in bulk or contained in one parcel or package or any number of separate parcels, parcels or packages sent at one time in one load by, or for, the Customer from one address to one address.

Product Functionalities
The Product functionalities defines the various functions involved in the Training and Placement automation. The functionalities involved are:
i. Product management:
The details of the product such as product type, weight, origin place, destination place, time, date , airway bill number(AWB) are managed . The management process involves inscanning , outscanning, manifesting and file uploading are done with respect to the air way bill number.
ii. Exceptions: The exceptions are those which occur when there is an error in an application. The exceptions are outscan exception , manifest exception , revenue exception , weight exception.
Customer details is to get the information regarding the customers. Customers are of two types credit and cash customers, upon which the rate management is to be done. The manifesting is done with respect to the customer details. iv. Rate Management: The rate management includes rate definition, managing rates, service tax , managing product map . This rate management is done with respect to credit and cash customers. The rate definition is defined through the zones, regions, cities where the shipment has to be delivered.

v. Cash sales: The cash sales manages only the cash customers, who pays cash on regular basis on their shipment delivery. The creation of cash sales, modification of cash sales, cash sales report are done here.
vi. Invoice processing:
The invoice is processed to the customers based on the airway bill number (AWB). The invoice is type of acknowledgement the customer receives after the shipment has been delivered to its destination. These reports to verify customer information, service types, billing rates.

7.1 Administrator:
User Scenario:
The main role of the administrator is to maintain all the product functionalities such as AWB number, manifesting, scanning, file uploading, customer management, exceptions , rate management and processing invoice.
7.2 Customer
The main role of the customer is to provide payment to the service providing company through daily cash or monthly cash basis. The customer must specify the destination address where the shipment has to be delivered.
