Job Summary

The TV Network as part of a respected media conglomerate is seeking a dynamic DIGITAL


Maghreb News leader who has strong Arabic language editorial management skills to expand its
social media footprint in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya & Mauritania.

The Global Media Organization is a U.S. non-profit, multimedia broadcaster that provides news
and information and engages with audiences in the Middle East and North Africa through highly
respected Arabic language television, radio and digital news properties.

This Maghreb Region News Managing Editor will work with fellow talented media executives in
our executive offices, broadcast studios and headquarters in the U.S. in the Washington, DC
Metro area.

The U.S. Global Media Organization is looking for a Maghreb knowledgeable Arabic language
Managing Editor to direct all editorial content and operations of a new online digital TV platform
designed to provide information about the Maghreb and directly engage the targeted Maghreb
audience on a wide spectrum of political, social, and cultural issues. The U.S. based Maghreb
Managing Editor will lead a team of Assignment Editors, Reporters, Community Managers and
other staff in the U.S. and throughout the Maghreb to create a new on-line presence designed to
provide unique Maghreb news and information and develop the target audience. The primary
duties and responsibilities of the Maghreb Region Managing Editor include, but are not limited to
the duties listed below in this job description.

Overseeing the creation and implementation of a brand new TV Network Digital platform
devoted to the Maghreb

LeadAssignment Editors and Digital News teams in the development of high quality, relevant
content to spur audience engagement and real-time community discussions about and within
the Maghreb
Ensuring fresh, mission-driven content is produced and available on a timely basis.
Ensure all platform content complies fully with journalistic code, social media policies, and style
guidelines
Inform leadership of all current and emerging issues related to the new digital property
Collaborate closely with technical staff to ensure effective content presentation
Consistently providesound editorial judgment, professional accountability and integrity
Demonstrate initiative and creative thinking to develop new story forms, editorial campaigns
and alternative approaches to improve journalistic delivery in the Maghreb.
Take initiative to identify strengths and weaknesses in the Maghreb editorial team;
recommending and implementing plans for training and development where appropriate
Fostering communication and cooperation within team and across the Digital department
Ensuring establishment and maintenance of a professional, positive, rewarding and
accountable work environment

Required

7+ years of professional experience in news writing and editing, video journalism or related
field-experience with social media platforms within a professional media or news organization
Strong news / journalistic / editorial judgment.
Honed management, leadership,and organizational skills to supervise assignment editors
Mastery of Arabic and fluency in English - French a plus
Demonstrated understanding of the Middle East.
Abreast of current events, especially in the Maghreb region and familiarity with international
developments in and around Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya & Mauritania
Competency in modern journalism tools and Social Media including Facebook, Twitter,
WhatsApp, Google, YouTube etc.
Ability to thrive under news deadline pressures in an upbeat and exciting 24/7 Global TV and
Digital Broadcasting environment devoted to the Maghreb
B.A., preferably in journalism or related field. Advanced degree preferred.

Job Summary

The Editor-in-Chief leads all digital content development to engage audiences


throughout the Middle East and North Africa. The incumbent provides quality
assurance of all Network digital output on all Network digital platforms.

Duties

Leads and directs the production of engaging, high quality news, features,
interviews, actualities and other digital content to expand the TV and Radio
Networks reach.
Continually works to assess and improve digital content to attain a broader digital
footprint in support of the TV, Radio and Digital platform unified mission statement.
Ensure all digital content is in compliance with Journalistic Code of Ethics and all
editorial guidelines and policies.
Establishes and maintains effective quality control monitoring and reporting
mechanisms and ensures relevant quality control reports are evaluated and
disseminated appropriately.
Addresses TV Network & Radio Network social media needs and works
cooperatively to address the balance between traditional and digital media
throughout the organization in line with digital strategy.
Proactively inform the VP News and GM Digital of all current or emerging issues
impacting digital properties.
Regularly consult with the VP Network News on relevant editorial issues across all
digital properties.
Identify emerging issues and develop related solutions. Identify team strengths and
weaknesses and implement plans for training and improvement where appropriate.
Maintain effective management and leadership of the digital editorial team.
Foster communication within and outside the department.
Work with the Office of Human Resources, to maintain an active recruitment and
hiring program to sustain a highly qualified team.

Summary

The Brand Manager devises, develops and directs implementation of the media conglomerates multimedia marketing strategy, leading branding efforts for all Television, Radio and related digital properties
throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
The Brand Manager manages contracted marketing firms and coordinates internal and external activities
in support thereof at the strategic and tactical levels.
The Brand Manager advises the President and other senior management to further brand awareness and
market penetration throughout the target region (MENA) in pursuit and fulfillment of the organization's
mission statement and diverse media goals.

Job Duties

Create, implement and measure the impact of a comprehensive marketing program and branding
strategy to enhance the media properties position throughout the Middle East and North Africa.
Manage external marketing partners, including but not limited to advertising agencies and digital
marketing firms. Direct advertising and corporate branding to maximize market presence and ensure
message consistency in alignment with the media goals mission.
Develop innovative, timely, creative, and cost effective approaches to maximize market impact across
the region.
Assessing and pursuing placement opportunities throughout the region.
Establish and monitor progress against benchmarks for each campaign and activity.
Ensure consistent branding throughout the organization and to all constituencies both internal and
external.
Keep informed of developments and best practices in marketing, especially within the target region.
Maintain awareness of industry trends and competitive strategies to identify potential challenges and
opportunities in the short and long term.
Develop and execute branding strategies with cross functional teams. Collaborate across departments

Lead the integration of marketing communications efforts in social media. Work across multiple social

Required

success. Graduate degree preferred.
Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing strategy and
activities.
Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Strong oral and written communications skills in English. Knowledge of Arabic preferred.
Knowledge of, or experience working in, the Middle East and North Africa strongly preferred.

Job Summary

Job Summary

The global broadcasting and digital media networks are seeking creative, energetic, social media savvy
individuals to join our expanding Digital team. The organization is a non-profit, multimedia broadcaster

through television, radio and digital properties. Assignment Editor positions are available in Rabat and in
the U.S.

The media conglomerate of diverse broadcast and digital media properties is looking for Assignment
Editors to lead and oversee a team of Reporters in development and publishing of original reporting and
content in a variety of journalistic forms. The Assignment Editor-Contest selects, assigns, edits, and
approves posting of content designed to engage audience and stimulate discussion on a broad spectrum
of political, social, and cultural issues relevant to audiences across the Maghreb region. The primary
duties and responsibilities of the Assignment Editor-Content include, but are not limited to:

Duties

Assigning Reporters original written, video, and alternative engagement content to inform and engage

Editing, and approving all content to ensure news reports, photographs, features and interviews

Summary

The Sr. Human Resource Manager supports all MENA overseas staff and their supervisors in
all facets of human resources management. The Sr. Global HR Manager will provide
support, perspective and recommendations across a wide range of important human resource
issues, including recruitment and selection, employee relations, performance management,
training, and compensation administration. This is a true generalist role in a highly respected
major U.S. based multinational multiplex multiplatform TV, Radio, media, news and digital

Job Duties

Provide guidance to employees and managers on company policy, and general


employment issues both tactical and strategic; investigate and advise management in
appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
Investigate and recommend solutions to issues related to overseas operations.
Ensure all overseas staff are in compliance with established policies and procedures.
Drive overseas recruitment and selection process to attract high caliber talent.
Coach, counsel and guide managers on performance issues and disciplinary actions.
Conduct business assessments and develop sound, business oriented solutions.
Lead performance management process for all overseas offices
Regularly assess the training and develop needs of assigned department(s) staff and
coordinate and/or deliver the necessary training to address the needs.
Prepare management reports including headcount, staffing, salary planning, etc.
Ensure applicable tracking, compliance and reporting of HR related issues as required by

Requirements

At least seven (7) years HR generalist experience with a least 1 year in a leadership
capacity or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least a Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Organizational Design or other related

Fluency in Arabic and English
Strong analytical skills
Advanced proficiency in Excel and demonstrated skills in database management
Familiarity with Human Resource Information Systems
Ability to develop and interpret policies and procedures, to interact effectively with a
diverse population at all levels, and to facilitate decision making
Background in compensation and benefits administration
Solid experience investigating and resolving employee relations issues; current knowledge
of applicable federal and state labor laws
Experience in a multi-cultural, international workplace is a plus
Sense of urgency, pro-active approach to role; confident and credible
Interpersonal and verbal communication skills to be able to provide advice and counsel

Job Summary

The Editor-in-Chief leads all digital content development to engage audiences


throughout the Middle East and North Africa. The incumbent provides quality

Duties

Leads and directs the production of engaging, high quality news, features,

Required

Summary

Function

The incumbent is responsible for news gathering and disseminating news assignments
to the reporter and segment producers, after approval of Senior Producers. Deals with
logistics, monitor the wires, newspapers, magazines, and other electronic and on-line
media. Maintains a daily file which contains press releases, story ideas, reminders of
follow-ups and scheduled events, and contact information about events. The incumbent
has a good knowledge of the geography of Arabic speaking countries.

Duties

Organizes and coordinates daily news coverage including assigning personnel


and equipment resources to specific stories after Senior Producer Approval
Prepares the run down list of potential stories during each news meeting.
Generally these will be discussed and the stories chosen by the Senior
Producers, Supervising Producer Editor in Chief, or a combination of managers.
Prioritizes and communicates assignments to reporters and segment producers.
Manages and coordinates the time and logistics to make sure selected stories
are covered efficiently with the available resources.
Maintains an assignment board listing what stories is being covered, who is
covering and approximately how much air time is required to each story, so
that anyone in the newsroom can know the status of a particular crew simply
by quickly looking at the board. This board will also define what guest in live in
the studio.
Develops ideas for features and special reports.
Plans and coordinates special news related events.
Reads and edits news copy to ensure that slanderous, libelous, and materials
are avoided or deleted.
Monitors Correspondents reports for balance, clarity and objectivity.
Alerts management about major news events, disasters.
Researches and coordinates guests.
Maintains Knowledge of current International and US events.
Assists editorial staff in developing all news coverage plans.
Maintains regular contact with news sources.
Reads, understands, and follows the Network's Journalistic Code of Ethics and
libel laws.

Other Duties

Incumbent may contribute to the broadcast by writing news stories.


The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other.

Required

Bachelors degree in journalism.


3-5 years of journalism experience.
Ability to communicate and translate from English to classic/modern Arabic.
Must demonstrate strong news judgment and organizational skills.
Must have keen sense of logistics and ability to work well with others including
producers, reporters, photographers, other personnel and the public.
Must be able to meet tight deadlines and under stress with accuracy and
balance.
Strong people management skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Must be able to develop sources, contacts.
Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
Must be able to exercise self-discipline and time-management skills.
Must be able to accommodate flexible work schedule to support 24/7 news

The Incumbent will provide timely technical operations support of fast-paced 24x7x365

Duties

Shoots news and feature stories as assigned by the Assignment Editor/Senior

Provides fully functional and reliable production equipment.
Shoot on location as scheduled and/or as requested, including during nontraditional work hours.
Delivers tape to Senior Producer immediately upon completion of shooting.

Function

The Senior Producer is responsible for the journalistic and creative development,
production, content quality of each show, constructing fresh, informative, creative,
compelling shows, ensuring balanced content consistent with the mission goals of the
company. The Senior Producer Maintains the creative vision and look and feel of
programs aligned with the departments vision.
The Senior Producer is responsible for overseeing the gathering, writing and producing
of each show and will lead and produces new and innovative productions. This Sr.
Producer will mentors and serve as a resource to junior members of the staff as they
demonstrate strong news judgment; ensure journalistic standards of fairness, accuracy
and relevancy. This Sr. Production position is central to the successful ongoing
operation of assigned programs and to maintaining company broadcast standards.

Duties

Develops reports, features, and monitors news events.


Take direction from Editor in Chief.
Supervises all show staff members.
Supervises and coordinate all preproduction planning.
Supervises overall production activities; watch edited time lines and suggest
improvements and/or changes.
Assigns reporters and correspondents to features and reports per editor in
chief.
Delivers completed stories to Intl News Bureau HQ in Washington, DC
Manages the weekly plan as directed by Intl News Bureau HQ in Washington,
DC per the Editor in Chief.
Works with writers on script development and format. Approves changes.
Helps director as needed.
Ensures that all production details are completed, including graphics and
chyrons.
Provides control room with information regarding the timing and content of all
completed programs.
Maintains composure.
Oversees post-production and approve final edits.
Coordinates with promotions department to create promotional materials.
Evaluates programs to ensure that objectives are met.
Works closely with Anchor for smooth daily operations.
Supervise performance and development of assigned broadcast team members;
this may include anchors, producers, writers, associate producers and
production assistants.
Provide appropriate and timely on-going performance feedback to assigned
team members

Special
Duties

Determine the shows vision and showcase major stories.


Assign and edit stories to writers on the team.
Contributes story ideas on a daily, weekly and long-range basis.
The Sr. Producer may be asked to perform additional duties and take on other

Required

Bachelors degree in journalism or broadcast journalism.


5 7 years of experience producing television newscasts.
Must be able to communicate and translate from English to classic Arabic.

Translate and edit the news from Radio and TV Newsrooms and wire services as
assigned by the Editorial Director and Assignment / Shift Editor. All news,
features, interviews, photos and actualities must be well organized, grammatically
accurate, timely, balanced and of the highest professional standards.
Select, write and edit all news stories in a timely and balanced style that reflects
the highest professional standards for a website format.

Description

Ensure that content is free from any Arabic terms that carry opinion or are
politically sensitive. Such terms must be replaced by neutral terms as directed by
the Web Supervisor.
Ensure that all material published on the site is checked for accuracy, typos, and
technical errors prior to publication.
Select and display news on the site that is balanced, and free from advocacy of a
position or point of view.
Ensure that style and content of all materials conform to the guidelines contained
in the Radio Network Stylebook, Digital Style Book and Journalistic Code of Ethics
to assure that complex issues are presented in a journalistically balanced manner.
Ensure all stories are accurate, well organized and grammatically accurate
including news scripts, photographs, features and interviews.
Constantly monitor competitor websites and broadcasters as well as utilize online
trends and analytics data to make the best analysis as to which topics will bring
in new audiences.
Maintain a knowledge of current Middle East, international and US events
Seek and develop original stories to complement and enrich the material received
from the news desk. Prepare original material with background information to
increase the readers comprehension of the news.
Re-write stories obtained from wire services using original leads (not copied
leads) that are coherent, concise and reflect the essence of the story.
Monitor various news sources to supplement news available from the newsroom
and wire services, including the American. Israeli and Arab press, with special
attention to Arab satellite channels to follow developing stories and live coverage
for breaking news.
Immediately correct any mistake that get published on the site; review process
to identify cause of mistake to eliminate future occurrences.
Master use of Dalet, Team News, Oasis, Facebook, Twitter, Google, YouTube
products and other digital systems relevant to producing quality journalism in the
modern age.
To regularly raise the spirit of teamwork and morale by holding the highest
professional standards and by exhibiting a strong work ethic on all projects.
To regularly use online analytics, data and social media to monitor ongoing trends
and regional online conversations, striving to increase traffic, engagement and
impact.

Required

BA Degree, preferably in Journalism, English or Translation; or significant relevant


professional experience
3 - 5 years professional writing experience, preferably in news editing, writing or
translation
Mastery of Arabic and English and ability to write for the Web effectively in
Arabic. Thorough practical knowledge of Arabic grammar is evident in drafting and
editing.
Ability to translate English to Arabic and vice versa.
Proficiency in the use of standard Windows-based software and the Internet;
ability to be trained in the technical systems relevant to the web operation,
including Dalet, TeamNews, photos, audio files, and the effective use of the Admin
Tool
Competency in modern journalism tools including Facebook, Twitter, Skype,
Google, YouTube. Ability in photo and video software such as Adobe Photoshop,
Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro a bonus.
Demonstrate a well-informed understanding of Middle East current events and
familiarity with international developments.
Ability to provide a quality, error-free product on time and thrive under constant

Function

The Guest Producer creatively creates story and guest ideas, pitches them to other
staff members like the executive producer and the host/anchor and secures the guests
appearance.
The Guest Producer researches the topic and the guest and prepares interview
questions. On the day of the appearance, incumbent ensures their arrival on the set
and serves as a news room ambassador during the guests stay at the Network.

Duties

Maintain steady contact with assignment desk to anticipate and determine appropriate guests for
interviews
Maintain a current network of contacts for a variety topics and points-of views to be contacted for
support of live or taped programming
Activate contact network to ensure balanced guest representation for every guest segment
Quickly find contacts for phone interviews in response to breaking news
Monitor show rundowns to stay apprised and ensure guest is in position and ready at the right time.
Coordinate transportation and other arrangements for guests to ensure they are in place and ready
for air.
Extend a formal thank you letter/note on behalf of the network to each guest within one week of their
appearance.
Complete guest honorarium at the end of each month, submit to business manager for prompt
payment to guest
