A special Kiddush will follow, sponsored by the Fields family in
celebration of Miriam becoming a Bat Mitzvah
The Wilderness Act (1964) and the Endangered
Species Act (1973) are two of the oldest
environmental laws with a clear ethical basis.
Dr. Peter Landres and Dr. Peter Dratch are
scientists who will discuss how these laws are
applied, especially in the West, and the new
challenges of climate change to rare species
and places. Bring friends with an interest in
conservation. We will be inviting members of the
wider interfaith community as well.

A siyyum is a traditional Jewish
practice which involves teaching after
completing the study of a Jewish book.
Beth Hammer and Rabbi Ben have just
completed a year of study of Pirkei Avot
(ethics of ancestors) . On June 1st, they
taught us about this important work as
a celebration of the completion of their
study.

Summer is made for kids to be outside,
Rolling in the grass, playing ball, looking
for crayfish in the stream It is also a
great time to learn, as kids learn by
doing. In this camp, I aim to combine
those old skool summer favorites with
science and math inquiry learning,
Jewish perspectives, conservation
principles, and community oriented play.

Join us at Troutman Park for outside play
and learning adventures this summer!

MISHNAH
STUDY GROUP
Every Wednesday at 1:00 PM at
CHS, starting June 15
Please join us as we read through
this classic Jewish text in Hebrew
and English. We will be working
from the Blackman Mishnah
edition. The frst book of the
Mishnah we will be studying is
Brachot. Texts are online: http://

you plan on coming, please email
Rabbi Ben for information on the
current week's reading.
42 MINUTES OF
KABBALAH
Every Friday at 2:00pm
We will be studying kabbalistic
texts in Hebrew at CHS with
Rabbi Ben. We will be reading
the Hebrew text and translating
on the spot. If you do not read
Hebrew you can sit in and
participate in the discussion.
The participation thus far has
been very engaged and lively.

JUDAISM IN TIME & SPACE
Thursday evenings, 7 to 8:30 PM
Classes are taught by Gary Spivak, Nina Rubin and Adele Eastman.
Drop-ins are welcome, each individual class is $12. The next 3 classes
are:

6/9 - Honoring the life cycle: Birth, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, marriage,
divorce
6/16 - Honoring the life cycle: Death and mourning
6/23 - Jewish Women: Ancient & contemporary perspectives

JEWISH OUTDOOR LEADERSHIP
INSTITUTE
The Jewish Outdoor Leadership Institute (JOLI)
with Camp Ramah of the Rockies is a dynamic new
program that trains Jewish teens (entering 11th
&12th graders) to become competent and confdent
outdoor leaders. JOLI participants spend about
half of their time at our rustic base camp, known as
the Ramah in the Rockies Ranch, living alongside
chalutzim (pioneers/campers) in the Ramah Outdoor
Adventure Camp. Participants live in their own tent
with a counselor but share facilities with chalutzim
at Ramah Outdoor Adventure. Visit http://www.

is promoting an initiative to turn the national anthem
Hatikvah into one of the most popular videos on
