1981-82 DALLAS BAPTIST COLLEGE. Received BCA degree in Aviation Management. Gra

1961-65 UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA BERKELEY EXTENSION, SAN DIEGO CITY
COLLEGE AND SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE. Completed undergraduate courses in evening cl

1952-55 RENO HIGH SCHOOL. Graduated in 1955 (age 16) after completing
all requirements for graduation in three years.
AVIATION JOB HISTORY:
1955-57 Graduated from U. S. Navy Airman Preparatory School, Aviation
Electronics Class A School, and U. S. Air Force (exchange student) AN/APS 20 Ra
dar School. Served as aircrewman in VW-15 for two months, then selected for flig
ht training as a Naval Aviation Cadet (NavCad).
1957-58 Navy Pre-Flight, Primary and Basic training in Pensacola, FL area, flyin
g T-34s and T-28s. Carrier qualified on USS Antietam. Advanced jet training at N
AS Beeville, Texas. Flew T2Vs (T-33) during instrument training, then F9F-8/8Ts
for balance of syllabus. Youngest officer and pilot in the Navy when commission
ed in 1958 (age 19).
1958-65 Served in VFAW-3, VU-7, VS-37 and VS-41 (S2 Replacement Air G
roup instructor pilot and Nuclear Weapons Instructor). Flew F3D, F4D, FJ-4, JD-1
(B-26), SNB, R4D-5 and S2D/E. WestPac cruise aboard USS Hornet. Carrier quals o
n USS Bennington.
1964 Completed flight instructor training course in Piper Colt. Passe
d FAA written exam and flight school's check flight. Did not take FAA check flig
ht because license not needed.
1965-68 U. S. Naval Reserve Squadron VP-703, Naval Air Station, Dallas
, TX. Served as P2V-5 Patrol Plane Commander flying anti-sub missions in suppor
t of the Regular Navy. Honorably discharged as Lieutenant Commander.
02/08/65 Pilot for Delta Air Lines. Served as Flight Engineer and First
to Officer on reciprocating engine aircraft and Flight Engineer,
01/01/97 First Officer and Captain on jet aircraft. Flew CV-340/440,
C-46, DC-6, DC-7, DC-8, B-727 and L-1011. Flew last year and a half
between Los Angeles and Hawaii.

ants. Entered data for applicants and employees, payroll, and enumerator questio
nnaires into the computer system. Assisted in hiring and terminating employees.
NAVY: Electronics Division Officer, Instrument Training Officer, Squadron Flight
Officer, O-in-C on numerous detachments and Plane Commander on R4D-5, S2D/E and
P2V-5.
CIVILIAN: President, Irving Jaycees, 1973-74; Director, Irving Chamber of Commer
ce, 1973-78; President, Irving Toastmasters Club, 1976-77; Director, Irving Comm
unity Concert Association, 1978-80 and District 25 Governor, Toastmasters Intern
ational, 1979-80. Team Leader, United Way and Irving YMCA fund drives. Airline C

TRAINING EXPERIENCE:
NAVY: Instrument Training Officer, VS-37, and Flight Instructor, VS-41. One of t
hree nuclear weapons instructors attached to VS-41, Detachment One, 1963-65. Tau
ght elementary nuclear physics, weapon nomenclature, detonation scenarios and de
livery/escape tactics to every Pacific Fleet pilot who flew an aircraft capable
of delivering an anti-submarine nuclear weapon. Our team conducted five day init
ial training courses in San Diego, then traveled throughout the Pacific twice ea
ch year to present two day refresher courses to re-qualifying pilots.
CIVILIAN: Conducted periodic training courses for incoming Toastmasters Club and
District Officers throughout northeastern Texas and western Louisiana. Taught T
oastmasters teams to conduct demo meetings for prospective clubs, both community
and corporate. Instructed Census Bureau employees in the techniques of operatin
g Live Scan fingerprinting system.

COMMUNICATIONS:
Member of Jaycees team trained to make presentations to community organizations
on alternate sources of energy. Made hundreds of presentations and speeches to T
oastmasters clubs and community organizations while serving as Club President, A
rea Governor, Educational Lieutenant Governor and District Governor. Conducted s
ales and communications seminars for corporations and community college classes.
Visited corporate CEOs and Directors of Training to pitch the formation of new
Toastmasters clubs in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Appeared on several Dalla
s area radio and TV shows to discuss the benefits of Toastmasters training. Prac
ticed communications skills as a Navy and commercial pilot for over forty years.
