* Eliminated over $800,000 in backorders and achieved year-over-year cost reduct
ions of $1.8 million. Improved on-time shipments from 78% to 98%, reduced lead t

* Secured TUV 13485 certifications at all 6 locations and implemented Lean/Sigma

* Utilized Lean techniques to convert 65,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space to manuf
acturing operation. Led Lean-Six Sigma initiative that resulted in 2 Black Belts
and 500+ associates trained in Lean techniques.
* Executed mission-critical plant synergies, directing installation and validati
on of 6 additional machines within budget and with zero negative impact on custo
mers. Required addition of 185 associates.
* Decreased raw material inventory by 25%, increased turns by 49%, and reduced W
IP by 20%. Expanded supplier-managed inventories and reduced changeover times by
50% utilizing SMED.
* Launched new product platform, working jointly with cross-functional teams fro
m major retailers that included CVS, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Eckerdas, and Kroger.
* Led plant in successful FDA audit 11/2003, with no major/minor observations an

Plant Manager, Puritan Bennett a" Plainfield, IN, 2001 a" 2003
Challenged to engineer turnaround within 180,000 sq. ft. plant, including union
avoidance. Supervised team of 8 direct and 235 indirect employees. Oversaw quali
ty assurance, manufacturing and engineering, capital investment justification a
nd installation, new product development, capacity planning, and other operation
al disciplines. Provided support to Galway, Ireland operations. With approx $3
8 million in annual sales revenue; Puritan Bennett TYCO Healthcare manufactures
specialty medical products designed to sustain breathing in the hospital, sub ac
ute and home care settings. Facility capabilities include stainless steel fabri
cation, machine shop, TUV code welding, assembly, testing, warehousing and glob
al distribution.
KEY CONTRIBUTIONS & ACHIEVEMENTS:
* Eliminated $3 million backorder and increased production by 60% and 30% (2001,
2002) to meet increased demand. Achieved $750,000-$1 million cost savings throu
gh leading installation of machine shop.
* Implemented Lean Manufacturing, KAIZEN, and Six Sigma principles. Utilized LEA
N techniques to reorganize Customer Service Center, streamlining processes from
4-5 week to 5-7 day turnaround time.
* Directed construction of new plant in the Indianapolis area, retaining majorit
y of trained labor skill sets vs. relocation. Reduced staffing from high of ~300
(3 shifts) to ~235 (1st shift) and skeleton on 2nd shift.
* Established OZ Principles to create culture of accountability at all employee
levels. Improved labor efficiency from 70% to 100%+, achieving $2 million favora
ble labor variance. Ensured that pre-existing union activity never amatureda to
card signing or vote.
* Relocated entire 180K sq. ft. operation utilizing LEAN techniques, under budge
t of $15 million, on time and seamless to customers.

Senior Director, Suture Manufacturing a" North Haven, CT, 1997 a" 2001
United States Surgical TYCO Healthcare with approx $1 billion in annual sales is
a global provider of diversified surgical products including sutures, needles,
laparoscopic and surgical stapling instruments.
