SATANIC TRADES AND PROFESSION

Introduction

S
atanic trades not only include haram businesses but also those which are halal but
people tend to make it haram by false misrepresentation. Many such professions will be
highlighted in latter part of the report. Consumption of haram is regarded as twenty-
fifth greatest sin. The Ayah of Surah Al-Maida, “Akal al soht” is translated eating which is
harmfully, unlawfully, illegally acquired.

Allah says:

“And you will see many of them striving with one another to hasten in sin and exceeding
the limits, and their eating of what is unlawfully acquired; certainly evil is that which they
do. Why do not the learned men and doctors of law prohibit them from their speaking of
what is sinful and their eating of what is unlawfully acquired? Certainly evil is that which
they work.”1

The Ayah is interpreted as acquiring or using of something by unlawful means. Soht means over
and done with which imply unlawful acquiring do not have any benefit for the possessor. The
use of commodities bought by haram money earned is also unlawful. Islam has given freedom to
choose their occupation for their livelihood but has prohibited doing so by unlawful means as
this will have an adverse effect on the society.

Hazrat Abdullah Bin Omar narrated:

“The world is luxuriant, green and sweet for one who will earn his livelihood through fair
means and spend it one the proper places will be granted reward by Allah Almighty, and
one who will earn through illegitimate means and spend it on improper places, Allah will
captivate him in humiliation and disgrace.”2

SATANIC TRADES AND PROFESSION

One should always try to earn by legitimate means but what is legitimate one needs to
understand. For instance, cultivation of grapes to manufacture wine, transport, buy, sell use, all
are considered haram. Singing, dancing and playing of musical instruments are all haram. And
hence, earning by similar medium is also haram. Any activity which is beneficial for a single
person but harmful for others is haram.

All such types of activities like interest banking, stealing, bribe, fraud, coercion and hoarding of
essential edible items to hike rates to the extent that it is beyond purchasing power of the poor,
all such activities are satanic trades and profession.

We highlighted few lawful professions which gets unlawful through mal practices and also
others which are purely against sharee’ah.

BLACK MAGIC:
Black Magic or Magic is an ancient form of deception. Magic has many kinds like entertaining
audience with magic deceiving people to see what is contrary to reality (deception), Black magic
and white magic (occults consider their magic as white and they teach to students),
Horoscope(future forecasting)and Palmistry. However, all of these forms of magic are haram in
Islam, they are practiced very commonly as a profitable trade in our society in exchange of
money. People have made this means of their earning. There are two types of magicians; first,
who take work from jinn and Satan in order to harm a certain person on request of their
customers and the second are the false magicians who depict themselves as well known
magicians to deceive their customers, exploit their needs and take money to do magic and claim
that they can fulfill their needs. This trade is strictly prohibited in Islam as it is like challenging
Allah by trying to change what he has given or made and includes future forecasting which is
again haram because only Allah has knowledge and can foresee the future.

In Quran it is clearly mentioned that people who indulge in these kinds of trades will go to hell.
Concerning this, it says:

5
SATANIC TRADES AND PROFESSION

"And when there came to them a Messenger from Allah confirming what was with them, a
party of those who were given the scripture threw away the book of Allah behind their
backs as if they did not know. And they followed what the devils gave out falsely of magic
of the reign of Solomon; for Solomon did not disbelieve but the devils disbelieved, teaching
men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels Harut and Marut,
but neither of these two (angles) taught anyone (such things) until they had said: we are
only for trial, so don't disbelieve. And from them (magicians) people learn that through
which they would cause separation between a person and his spouse, but they could not
thus harm anyone except by Allah's leave; and they learn that which harms them rather

than profits them. And indeed they knew that its practitioner would have no share in the
Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their own selves if they but
knew"3

DOCTORS:
The profession of a doctor is very noble. It serves humanity. However, some professionals try to
make extra money out of it. Without listening to the call of the patient, doctors ask them to make
hundreds of tests so that they themselves can earn millions out of it.

A doctor without listening to the patient should not ask them to make tests. However, necessary
test should be made but with the intentions to come to the root cause of the disease not to make
money by writing number of tests and fixing a commission with laboratory.

Few doctors are engaged in organ transplantations. Many Ulemas’ consider it as haram practice
as transfusion of organs is not permitted by mutual consensus of Ulemas. This can also be said as
satanic trade. This will be discussed in latter part of the report in detail.

SATANIC TRADES AND PROFESSION

BRIBERY:
It is one of the most common type of trade in our society. Now a days , we see people bribing
frequently. Bribery is given to judjes to have the desired orders, to person in authority to pass the
tenders and also for things like having admissions in schools , in offices where there are long
ques to stand in and to witnesses for giving false statements in courts. Islam strictly condemns
the giver and taker of the bribery as it involves usurping of someone’s right, punishing someone
innocent and creates a snowball effect in the society. In Quran Allah orders:

“And do not eat up your property among yourselves for vanities, nor use it as bait for the
judges, with intent that ye may eat up wrongfully and knowingly a little of (other) people's
property.” 4

On the authority of Abu Hurairah: The Prophet (peace be on him) said:

"Allah's curse is on the one who offers the bribe and on the judge who accepts it."5

EXPIRY AND DUPLICATE MEDICINES:

Many pharmacists for sake to make money, intentionally, sell fake and expiry medicines to
customers risking the lives. This is such big a crime not only here but this can also be said as
murder through lethal weapon. May Allah SWT guide us all.

Hazrat Ka’b b. Maalik :

“Two hungry wolves left alone in a herd of sheep are not so harmful, than the greed of
wealth and the greed of fame and repute through the source of religion.”6

BOOK KEEPING:
Many of bookies set huge amount to bet on. Earning through such practices is Haram. This is
clearly mentioned in Holy Quran. This bookkeeping is getting popular among individuals,
especially in sports. Talking about cricket specifically, high bets are charged. This is another

example of satanic trade. Other than book keeping which is betting, Match fixing is also another
kind of this trade in which matches are fixed that who will win and who will lose and the loser is
given money to lose. This will be discussed in details in latter parts of the report.

NEGLIGENCE/ NO SERVICE BY GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES:

We normally see at government institutions, employees sitting in idle state and not performing
their duty. Majority just come to mark their attendance. Their pay cannot be regarded as Halal as
they have received it not earned it. A pay which is received against the services of a person with
respect to other factors lawful, is halal pay. We take it as satanic profession. Similar attitude is
also seen at Government schools and colleges. Few teachers fail to discharge their duties.

METER-MAN AT KESC EMPLOYEES:

Often, horrified seeing the electricity bill, a meter-man from KESC steps in, to offer help by
slowing the meter. He is actually causing loss to the organization by doing so. An activity which
is beneficial for few but harmful for the society is Haram. This is another example of satanic
profession.

PAAN/ CIGARETTE HAWKERS:

Paan and cigarette is getting popular among youth by increasing rate. Paan and cigarette can
cause cancer to the taker. Anything usage causing harm to the body is Haram. Similar petition
applies for the seller and manufacturer of Cigarettes and Paan.

HazratAbu Bakr Siddiq :

“That body will not enter the paradise which is nourished by the prohibited food.”7

BANKS:
The concept of banks were brought forward by the jews to make the whol mankind their slave
and cause them to end in debt. This will make them to ease their way to the New World Order.
The whole banking system is an evil and is based totally on Riba. And Riba has no acceptance in
Islam.

SATANIC TRADES AND PROFESSION

Allah says:

Those who eat Ribâ (usury) will not stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except like the
standing of a person beaten by Shaitân (Satan) leading him to insanity. That is because
they say: "Trading is only like Ribâ (usury)," whereas Allâh has permitted trading and
forbidden Ribâ. So whosoever receives an admonition from his Lord & stops eating Ribâ
(usury) shall not be punished for the past; his case is for Allâh (to judge); but whoever
returns (to Ribâ), such are the dwellers of the Fire – they will abide therein forever8.

FILM INDUSTRY/ SINGING/ DRAMA INDUSTRY:

This is a huge industry in our society and a lot of people are working for it and earning well but
so grievous is the fact that it is Haram. Where the woman has been told to cover their heads and
themselves as they can deviate other men, these videos showing men and women in horribly
short dresses is a fornication of eyes. Singing is also haram in Islam as it has a tendency to
corrupt the morals of a person. It produces a Nafaq in the hearts of people and makes them lost in
the worldly joys.

People who directly work for it like directors, producers and actors and the people who supports
and earn like make up man , camera man and the whole crew is indulged in haram trade.

In Quran Allah says:

“And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing) to mislead (men) from
the path of Allaah without knowledge, and takes it (the path of Allaah, or the Verses of the
Qur’aan) by way of mockery. For such there will be a humiliating torment (in the Hell-
fire).

8
Al-Quran,2:275

9
SATANIC TRADES AND PROFESSION

And when Our Verses (of the Qur’aan) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as
if he heard them not — as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful
torment9”

INTOXICANTS:
All intoxicants which includes drugs, alcohol, wine and all other forms of drugs and drugs
dealing or trade is haram in Islam as it makes people unconscious and thus causes harm to
himself and others in madness. And in adittion to it it is against the rights of the organs of a
person. These things are called "abominations of Satan's handiwork," intended to turn people
away from God and forget about prayer. Consumption, manufacturing and trading these
intoxicants are haram. All the people involved in trade or manufacturing of such evil are being
cursed by Allah.

Anas ibn Malik (r) narrates that Allah's Messenger (s):

“Cursed ten people in connection with wine: the wine-presser, the one who has it pressed,
the one who drinks it, the one who conveys it, the one to whom it is conveyed, the one who
serves it, the one who sells it, the one who benefits from the price paid for it, the one who
buys it, and the one for whom it is bought10.”

LAND MAFIA:
Land Mafia has emerged as a serious crime and is haram in Islam. Acquiring one’s property by
unfair and unjust means is completely unacceptable practice in islam. Land Mafia usurps not
only the properties of well off people for money but also of those who live in camps in the cities.
Taking earth from poor is again a more serious sin and a crime.

SATANIC TRADES AND PROFESSION

In Quran Allah says:

“And eat not up your property among yourselves in vanity, nor seek by it to gain the
hearing of the judges that ye may knowingly devour a portion of the property of others
wrongfully11.”

PROSTITUTION:
It is prohibited in the three heaven religions; Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Islam not only
condemns it in strongest possible words but also rejects it totally and absolutely. The filthy
money earned from it is not at all acceptable in Islam because Islam is a religion of purity, piety
and human dignity.

In Quran Allah says:

Do not force your slave-girls into prostitution, when they themselves wish to remain
honourable, in your quest for the short-term gains of this world, authough, if they are
forced, God will be forgiving and merciful to them.12"

INSURANCE:
Insurance is haram because the participant loses the money paid for the premium when the
insured event does not occur The company will be in deficit if the claims are higher than the
amount contributed by the participants which comes under gharar. The element of Riba (Interest)
exists in lending or borrowing funds/investments at fixed interest, and other related practices in
the investment activities of conventional Insurance companies. Hence, Insurance is a haram
trade.

SATANIC TRADES AND PROFESSION

Allah says in Quran:

“If ye do not, take notice of war from Allah and His Messenger: but if ye turn back, ye
shall have your capital sums; Deal not unjustly, and ye shall not be dealt with unjustly 13.”

GAMBLING:
Gambling is one of the emerging Haram trade of our society. Gambling is Haram because it
includes the element of gharar and future forecasting about nobody except Allah has knowledge.
It also involves Maysir involving two parties in a combative game played for the sole purpose of
winning at the expense of one's opponent. The gain accruing from such a game is unlawful, as is
the act of playing it, for it diverts one's attention from productive occupation and virtuous
conduct.

Allah says:
"They will ask thee about intoxicants and games of chance. Say: In both there is great evil
as well as some benefit for man; but the evil which they cause is greater than the benefit
which they bring14."

In other ayah:

"By means of intoxicants and games of chance Satan seeks only to sow enmity and hatred
among you, and to turn you away from the remembrance of God and from prayer. Will
you not, then, desist?"15

The Messenger of Allah (SAW) also forbade us from gambling as illustrated in the following
Hadith;

13
Quran, 2:279
14
Quran , 2: 219
15
Quran 5:90

12
SATANIC TRADES AND PROFESSION

From Abu Hurayrah (RA), that he said, "The Messenger of God (S) forbade the 'sale of the
pebble' [hasah] [sale of an object chosen or determined by the throwing of a pebble], and
the sale of al-gharar.16

ROBBERY:
Robbery comes under acquiring things by unfair means which is subjected to great torment in
Islam. The person who robs and eats or earns money from robbery is doing a crime and a sinful
act and the punishment for this haram profession is cutting hands of the robber. This is growing
very rapidly in our society in the form of mobile snatching and other forms of dacoits, markets
where snatched mobiles are being sold etc.

Allah says in Qur’an:

“And (as for) the make theif and the female thief, cut off (from the wrist joint) their (right)
hands as a recompense for that which they committed, a punishment by way of example
from Allâh. And Allâh is All-Powerful, All-Wise17”.

STOCK PILING/ HOARDING:

Stock piling is also referred as amassing, stockpiling, accumulating, stashing money, food,
jewellery, even items that are worthless. In this satanic trade goods are withheld from sale until
their prices skyrockets. This type of cleverness and evil causing artificial inflation in prices is
totally haram. It is haram because due to hoarding of goods only the hoarder gets profit and the
consumer is in loss and exploited. This is one of the reasons behind unequal distribution of
wealth like in our society rich get richer and poor get poorer. It is not an ordinary business but
black marketing. Unfortunately, it has been practiced in our country and we can see hoarding in
the case of sugar, wheat, rice etc which the person cannot leave because wheat is the basic
necessity. That is why it is termed as exploitation of the consumer. It was also existent at the

time of jahiliya but on the arrivals of our prophet Hazrat Muhammad P.b.u.h it was restricted by
him on the command of Allah.

Allah says:

“Let not those who withhold and hoard God's provisions think that this is good for them;
it is bad for them. For on the Day of Resurrection they will carry their hoardings around
their necks. God is the ultimate inheritor of the heavens and the earth. God is fully aware
of everything you do”18.

In another ayah Allah tells about the painful torment for hoarder that:

The day will come when their gold and silver will be heated in the fire of Hell, and then
used to burn their foreheads, their sides, and their backs: "This is what you hoarded for
yourselves, so taste what you have hoarded.19”

Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Only a sinner hoards goods20."

He also said:

"Whoever interferes with the prices among the Muslims to cause those prices to increase,
Allah has the right to seat him in a severe fire on the Day of Judgement21."

HITMAN/ HIRED ASSASSINS:

The profession of hitman is very common as this is the age for which it has been said that the
killer will not know why he killed and the person killed will not know why he has been killed. It

prevails in the society mainly due to poverty because people are living from hand to mouth and
have to support their families so they indulge themselves in these haram professions and earn
their living. This is the consequence of an interest based economy where the people are indulged
in hoarding of money and goods. In these countries people with weak faith adopts this profession
which is very severe in the sins.

In Quran Allah says:

“That if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the
land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if
he saved the life of the whole people.  The although there came To them Our Messengers
With clear Sings, yet, Even after that, many Of them continued to commit Excess in the
land.22”

TRADES OF PIGS AND DOGS:

Trades of dogs and pigs are considered to be haram in Islam. Though the trade of pigs is a very
profitable business but it is not permitted as it is najis and so the earnings from it. Hazrat
Muhammad (p.b.u.h) also ordered to kill the jet black dog as it is a devil.

Narrated Abu Mas'ud Al-Ansari:

"Allah's Apostle regarded illegal the price of a dog, the earnings of a prostitute, and the
charges taken by a soothsayer23."

MATCH FIXING:
Match fixing is a type of deceit to the loyal and it is playing with the emotions of millions of
people which is haram. It is also haram because one day the world will know that the match was

fixed and it will cause damage to the image of muslims worldwide so it’s a big sin. It is a type of
deception, cheating and dishonesty which are not the qualities of a Muslim.

In Quran Allah says:

"Surely the hypocrites strive to deceive Allah. He shall retaliate by deceiving them.24"

FRAUD:
Fraud is a kind of dishonesty again and so it is haram. Allah and prophet has orderd Muslims to
be honest in dealing but now a days people are indulged in frauds. They have forgotten what
Allah has taught them Even a hawker today, doesn’t measure honestly and so his earning from
dispection and fraud is haram.

Allah says in Qur’an:

“O my people! Give full measure and full weight in justice, and wrong not people in respect
of their goods. O you who have attained to faith! Do not devour one anothers possessions
wrongfully not even by way of trade based on mutual agreement and do not destroy one
another: for behold, God is indeed a dispenser of grace unto thee25”!

TRADING IN MARGINS:
It means that the customer pays a small amount of the value of what he wants to buy, which is
called a “margin”, and the agent (the bank or otherwise) pays the rest as a loan, provided that the
purchase contract remains in the name of the agent as a pledge for the money that was loaned.

24
Qur'an 4:142

16
SATANIC TRADES AND PROFESSION

The Islamic Fiqh Council of the Muslim World League, in its eighteenth session that was held
in Makkah al-Mukarramah from 10 to 14/3/1427 AH (8 to 12 April 2006 CE), has examined the
issue of trading in margins.

Following are the actual words of the council:

“The Committee believes that this transaction is not permissible according to sharee’ah for the
following reasons:

Firstly: It involves obvious riba, which is represented by the addition to the amount of the loan
which is called “paying fees for delaying the deal”. This is a kind of haraam riba. Allaah says
(interpretation of the meaning):

“O you who believe! Fear Allaah and give up what remains (due to you) from Ribaa (from
now onward) if you are (really) believers.
And if you do not do it, then take a notice of war from Allaah and His Messenger but if you
repent, you shall have your capital sums. Deal not unjustly (by asking more than your
capital sums), and you shall not be dealt with unjustly (by receiving less than your capital
sums)26”

Secondly: The agent stipulates that the customer must deal through him, which leads to
combining both giving a loan for something in return and paying commission, which is akin to
combining giving a loan and selling at the same time, which is forbidden in sharee’ah because
the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “It is not permissible to give a
loan and sell at the same time…” The hadeeth was narrated by Abu Dawood (3/384) and al-
Tirmidhi (3/526), who said it is a hasan saheeh hadeeth. In this case he has benefited from his
loan, and the fuqaha’ are unanimously agreed that every loan that brings a benefit is haraam riba.

Thirdly: Dealings that are done in this manner in the global markets usually involve many
contracts that are haraam according to sharee’ah, such as:
25
Quran 11:85
26
Quran, al-Baqarah,2:278-279

17
SATANIC TRADES AND PROFESSION

1-    Dealing in bonds, which comes under the heading of riba which is haraam. This was stated
in a resolution of the Islamic Fiqh Council in Jeddah, no. 60, in its sixth session.

2-    Dealing indiscriminately in company shares. The fourth statement of the Islamic Fiqh
Council of the Muslim World League in its fourteenth session in 1415 AH stated that it is
haraam to deal in the shares of companies whose main purposes are haraam, or some of their
dealings involve riba.

3-    Selling currencies is usually done without the hand to hand exchange which makes them
permissible according to sharee’ah.

4-    Dealing in options and futures. A resolution of the Islamic Fiqh Council in Jeddah no. (63),
in its sixth session, stated that options are not permissible according to sharee’ah, because the
object of dealing in these contracts is not money or services or a financial obligation which it is
permissible to exchange. The same applies to futures and trading in indexes.

5-    In some cases the agent is selling something that he does not possess, and selling what one
does not possess is forbidden in sharee’ah.

Fourthly: This transaction involves economic harm to the parties involved, especially the
customer (investor), and to the economy of the society in general, because it is based on
borrowing to excess and taking risks. Such matters usually involve cheating, misleading people,
rumours, hoarding, artificial inflation of prices and rapid and strong fluctuation of prices, with
the aim of getting rich quickly and acquiring the savings of others in unlawful ways. Hence it
comes under the heading of consuming people’s wealth unlawfully, in addition to diverting
wealth in society from real, fruitful economic activity to this type of risk that has no economic
advantage, and it may lead to severe economic turmoil that will cause great loss and harm in
society.

18
SATANIC TRADES AND PROFESSION

The Council advises financial institutions to follow the ways of finance that are prescribed in
sharee’ah and that do not involve riba and the like, and do not have harmful economic effects on
their customers or on the economy in general, like shar’i partnerships and the like. And Allaah is
the Source of strength.27

After the above explanation by the council it requires no more explanation.

ORGAN TRANSPLANTATION:
Organ transplantation has been under great debate but mostly scholars consider them haram.
Allah has created the mankind superior to all creature and he has an honour. It is not permissible
at all in any condition to eat or consume human flesh and to trade on them whether the other
person is dying. Even wearing false wig made of other’s hair are not allowed so how can it be
allowed to transplant an organ which is just like a wearing false hair. Human body after death

should be burrried rather than cutting or piercing them it is against the honour of that person and
Allah as it is made by Him.

Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said:

“Allah’s curse is on a woman who wears false hair (of humans) or arranges it for others”28.

Imam Nawawi (Allah have mercy on him) writes in the explanation of this Hadith:

“If human hair is used, then it is unlawful by consensus, whether it’s the hair of a man or
woman, because of the general narrations that prohibit this. And also, it is unlawful to take
benefit from the hair and all other organs of a human body due to its sanctity. The hair of a
human along with all his body parts must be buried29”.

27
This text has been from the site http://www.islam-qa.com/en/ref/106094

19
SATANIC TRADES AND PROFESSION

From above sahih Hadith it is very clear that organ transplantation is haram. Now the question is
raised that What if the other person is dying can’t we save somebody? So, those people should
keep in mind that even if the person is dying of hunger pork is halal but not even then human
flesh can be consumed. It is haram in every condition.

Imam al-Marghinani (Allah have mercy on him) states regarding the sanctity of a human:

“It is unlawful to sell the hair of a human, as it is (unlawful) to take benefit out of it, for a
human is honoured and sacred, and it is not permissible to disgrace any part of a human’s
body30”.

A human body is sacred even after his/her death.

The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said:

“Breaking the bone of a dead person is similar (in sin) to breaking the bone of a living
person31”.

Hence, it trading of organs or transplantation is haram and so the money earned in return of the
transplantation

CONCLUSION:
As this is the age of awesome deception, people must protect themselves from the ill practices or
satanic practices prevailing in the society. People should at least try to recognize What is haram
And makes their earning Haram. The only way to protect your faith is to follow the devine book
of Allah and follow the footsteps of Hazrat Muhammad (P.B.U.H).
