-Assists in controlling, directing, and monitoring the activities and movement o
f offenders to work assignments, meals, recreational activities, medical calls,
educational classes, or within specific areas to ensure the security and safety
of offenders, staff, and the public, works directly with special needs offenders
, to include long term, mentally ill, geriatric, and youthful offenders.
-Enforce knowledge of rules governing access to buildings and grounds, rules of
behavior, general safety precautions and fire hazards, methods and procedures in
dealing with offenders, visitors, staff; enforces methods and procedures search
ing for escapees and violators establish by institution policies, procedures and
guidelines.
-Writes reports and observations pertaining to occurrences that requires action
by supervisors and incident or disciplinary reports detailing incorrect behavior
, violation of rules and regulations, maintains official logs, testifies at disc
iplinary hearings, classification committees, release hearings, and court procee
dings.
-Briefs supervisors and relief staff regarding current issue/areas of concern (i
.e. pass on pertinent information) in order to be aware of a situation or take a
ppropriate action, advise offenders and staff regarding problems, institution pr
ograms, policies, and behavior standards.
-Supervises, schedules, trains, monitors, evaluates, and assists correctional of
ficers in specific areas of a correctional institution, facility or unit, respon
sible for maintaining security to ensure the security and safety of offenders, s
