Spring 1975 - Pursued training in conference interpretation at the United Nation
s, New York.
Fall 1976 - Audited courses in international law, French, German, and Russian at
the University of Neufchatel, Switzerland.
1990-1996 - Took advanced courses in French and Economics in Bordeaux (1990), Vi
chy (1992), and Brest (1996), France.
AWARDS:
The first National Council for Community Services to International Visitors (COS
ERV) Award of Appreciation as Escort-Interpreter of the Year. Presented on April
5, 1978, and accepted on my behalf by Mr. Donald F. Barnes, Chief, Interpreting
Branch, Office of Language Services, U.S. Department of State.
The award certificate states that the award was granted-"for his sensitive under
standing of his special role of middle man
between the visitor and volunteer; for his ability to interpret the United State
s far beyond the requirements of language alone; and for his steadfast commitmen
t to the ideals of his profession."
Full Scholarship for study in France during the 1962-1963 academic year, from th
e Institute of European Studies, Chicago.
