SACRAMENTO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Project Manager Airport Specialist, July 2008


to June 2010:
Design-Build joint venture with Flatiron Construction to work on the design and
construction of a new Airside Concourse Building for Sacramento International Ai
rport. My duties include managing the architects, consultants, owner and subcont
ractors during the airport planning, pre-construction, building layout and desig
n assist of the eight phases of design. Oversaw weekly pre-construction design m
eetings; prepared the contract scopes of work and the schedules and phasing of w
ork for procurement of subcontractors. Performed constructability, value enginee
ring and prepared bid documents. During construction, I managed the structural
work, curtainwall, aluminum panel and window systems, metal and single-ply roofi
ng systems, architectural finishes, including stainless steel column covers and
trim, and the inbound international Baggage Handling System (BHS). This included
control management of schedules, payments, change orders and contract interpret
ation.
PHOENIX SKY HARBOR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Project Manager of Baggage Handling Sy
stems, April 2005 to July 2008:
Planned and designed, installed, integrated and completed five of the seven Expl
osion Detection Systems (EDS) into the present Baggage Handling System (BHS.) De
signed and constructed the BHS Central Control Room. Prepared the scope of works
, BHS design and estimate reviews; advertised and awarded the BHS/EDS work, work
ed with the Transportation Security Administration, equipment vendors and airlin
es to meet requirements and regulations; tied the BHS system into the Airport L
AN backbone system, coordinated with other trades and submitted review; oversaw
construction and commissioning of the BHS/EDS Systems and reviewed pay applicat
ions. Also managed the schedule, approved payments and reviewed change orders.
Bovis Lend Lease: February 1999 to February 2005
BEN GURION INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, Tel Aviv, Israel, Project Manager:
Oversaw design and construction of the $1 billion Israel Airports Authority Ben
Gurion International Airport project. Worked on the initial planning of the airp
ort, and later made changes during construction on the building design and airp
ort positioning. Also, planned, designed and integrated the new train station in
to the airport facility. Finally, worked on the plan for the new terminal's expa
nsion to handle redesign of the baggage system after the Sept. 11 terrorist atta
cks. Oversaw construction and management of the Airside, Landside Terminal Build
ings, Parking Structures and the Train Station. Also was the Project Manager of
supply and install contracts, escalators, speedwalks, passenger loading bridges,
the Baggage Handling Systems, Visual Guidance Docking System (VDGS), aircraft p
ositioning and marking, architectural finishes, stone work, hardware, master key
ing system, toilet partitions, toilet fixtures and accessories, casework, signag
e, furniture and commonality of materials. Interacted with the major architectur
al design firms - SOM, TRA and Moshe Safde Associates - on the project to resolv
e design and redesign issues in the terminal buildings. Reviewed and approved pa
y applications, managed schedules, performed site supervision of contracts, revi
ewed change orders and prepared and reviewed contracts and project scopes. Super
vised a team of five people.
Plushnick/Tsue Architects, New York, NY, July 1984 to February 1999, General Par
tner:
Oversaw every day office operations, design, presentation and production, constr
uction supervision and construction management services. Provided architectural
services, including planning, programming, control management, scheduling, const
ruction supervision and construction management work on commercial office buildi
ngs, office interiors, restaurants, retail stores, performing arts facilities, m
useums and residential homes. Performed work for Marriott Corporation, Hertz Cor
poration, Guess, New York City Lincoln Center, the City of New York Department o
f General Services, the Queens County Farm Museum, Dr. Jay's, Reese Corporation
and McKay Drugs. Did city planning studies and analyses of urban and suburban se
ttings in New York, the Northeast corridor down to Florida and Israel.
New York City Department of General Services, February 1978 to July 1984, Chief
Architect:
Planning and design for New York's special projects and cultural institutions, i
ncluding the Metropolitan Museum of Art, American Museum of Natural History, Lin
coln Center, City Center of Performing Arts, Brooklyn Academy of Music, New York
Zoological Society, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Queens Museum and the Queens Ha
ll of Science. Oversaw 12 architects and project managers, prepared programs, p
lanned and designed, prepared schedules, produced construction documents, specif
ications, cost estimates, advertising and bidding. Oversaw consultants, field in
spections and coordination; reviewed shop drawings; supervised field constructio
n, change orders and analyzed zoning and building code issues. The Cultural Inst
itution Section averaged $150 million dollars a year in design and construction
work.
