OUTREACH INITIATIVES IN ACTION

FEMA Mitigation community education and outreach advisors are visiting local home improvement stores to provide useful
information and publications about low-cost ways to rebuild that can reduce the risk from future storms, flood events and other
potential hazards.

SBA DISASTER LOANS FOR HOMEOWNERS, RENTERS & BUSINESSES

SBA disaster loans to homeowners, renters and businesses of all sizes are the principal source of money for rebuilding after a
disaster. Businesses of any size in the declared disaster area can apply for a long-term, low-interest loan to repair or replace
damaged property. Some businesses and non-profit organizations can apply for a working capital loan from the SBA to
relieve the economic injury caused by the disaster even if there was no property damage.

For assistance, contact the SBA Customer Service Center by calling 800-659-2955 or TTY 800-877-8339 Monday through
Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by sending an email to
disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.

DISASTER RECOVERY CENTERS

Applicants are not required to visit a Disaster Recovery Center, but a visit to a Disaster Recovery Center provides an
opportunity for disaster survivors to meet one-on-one with representatives from state and federal agencies and find answers to
questions they may have about the recovery process. The Disaster Recovery Center is staffed by NCEM, FEMA, SBA and
other federal and nonprofit agencies.
