enterprise-wide Lotus Notes to Exchange migration affecting 120,000 mailboxes.
He developed project plans, tracked open issues, performed risk management, work
ed with senior executives and directed matrixed teams across the three Verizon b
usiness organizations.
For Pfizer, Mr. Newman worked in support of an overall strategy to offer environ
mental and capacity relief in North American data centers while introducing a ne
w server virtualization business-as-usual (BAU) process into the organization.
The objective of the virtualization project was to review Pfizer's pool of 4500
servers across three major North American data centers for virtualization candid
acy and establish a turnkey process for server virtualization. This project pre
sented the technical challenge of virtualizing as many as 15 servers in a single
evening covering a 12-hour period and returning service back to the user commun
ity for these servers within this outage window with a high success rate. Techno
logy utilized during the project included VMWare ESX Server, VMWare VMotion, and
PlateSpin Powerconvert. Mr. Newman was responsible for virtualization process d
evelopment, business engagement/management,change management for virtualization
events, virtualization execution, post-virtualization support.

lists in analyzing the Windows and Exchange environment and delivered performanc
e and operational recommendations targeted at improving the speed and operationa
l characteristics of the infrastructure.
For Deloitte, Mr. Newman led a multidisciplinary project team of 50 which migrat
ed a 120,000 seat Exchange 2000 global messaging environment to Exchange 2003.
Mr. Newman had primary responsibility for project and resource management, archi
tecture definition and was responsible ensuring that the technology hosting cent
ers (hosting messaging, active directory, and SAP and other global applications)
were not impacted during the migrations.
For Deloitte, Mr. Newman led a global team of 40 in managing the Windows 2003 mi
gration. This migration occurred at 3 global hosting centers and over 80 member
firms worldwide. The migration environment was Windows 2000 and comprised appr
oximately 120,000 seats. Mr. Newman ensured that all active directory extension
s were implemented and that global network teams worked together during the migr
ation as each domain controller was brought into the new environment.
Mr. Newman worked with the Deloitte web services team (Deloitte Online) to desig
n and implement active directory federation services (ADFS) architecture for cer
tain externally facing web services. The Active Directory Federation Services a
rchitecture provided Deloitte with the ability to grant access to proprietary in
formation to trusted external parties (organizations and users) without needing
to set up a mirrored active directory environment to ensure security and data pr
ivacy.
For Deloitte, Mr. Newman managed a diverse global team that developed an enginee
ring and deployment strategy for the Windows 2000 / Active Directory migration.
The existing environment included over 100,000 users with accounts in both NT4 a
nd Novell. Mr. Newman's primary responsibilities included providing overall pro
ject management and reporting to senior management stakeholders, technical and e
ngineering guidance for assessing existing operating environments, interfacing w
