PERSONAL
To whom it may concern:
I have been practicing as a clinical pharmacist now for over 22 years. My backg
round combines skills from a wide variety of practice settings. I believe these
skills have strengthened my overall abilities to deliver the level of care our
patients need.
I relocated back to California from Pennsylvania in August of 2007. Since that
time I have started a com-pounding pharmacy, Quality First Compounding Pharmacy
, in Calistoga, which is a town in the northern-most area of Napa County. Start
ing a new business from the ground up has been very rewarding in many ways. It
has taught me much in the areas of business development and marketing as well as
the time commitment and sacrifices necessary to keep a business thriving after
three years. It is with great hopes that I am able to continue on along these l
ines with respect to solid dosage form compounding. Calistoga is a town with a
large population of indigent farm workers. Besides grape growing, the other maj
or area of commerce in Calistoga is tourism. Calistoga has a very small populat
ion, and in the summer months the population doubles as a result of the tourist
influx. Tourism does not lend itself well to repeat business. In addition to o
wning and managing a compounding pharmacy I also have been the main pharmacist f
or the retail pharmacy called Silverado Pharmacy; located on the same premises a
s my compounding pharmacy. Fulfilling my duties as the one and only pharmacist
in a busy small town has allowed me the opportunity to really get to know my fel
low city folks and meet others from all over the world. I has been a job that m
ost of us only dream of!!! My experiences have lead to immense personal and pro
fessional growth.
The needs of our patient/customer base has not changed since I had started my pr
ofession, but how we engage our patients and the level/type of information we ca
n now provide them has massively increased. This is where my level of growth ha
s been most noticeable. In a small town without an emergency room, and on some
days, no physician on duty, I am the only healthcare professional inside a 10-mi
le drive. This causes many to seek me out for a multitude of issues. I need to
function as a triage nurse on many occa-sions! I readily accept that responsib
ility because it is my diverse background that allows me to feel com-fortable in
this role.
Now I am seeking my next level of growth potential. Nuclear pharmacy is one are
a of which I have had a strong level of curiosity! If given the opportunity I w
ould like to acquire training in this area. Besides Nu-clear pharmacy, I am lo
oking for a stable environment in which to work in a TEAMWORK ORIENTATED capacit
y. Currently I work as an independent pharmacist that only used a clerk to proc
ess claims; the re-mainder is left up to me to handle. A pharmacist is only as
good as their support staff. With an intact sup-port staff the pharmacist is ab
le to be much more effective in the role. Relocation is not out of the question
if the ideal match can be indentified.
As far as my working environment, I regard myself as a self-starter, team player
, a very excellent communi-cator and a great listener. I am punctual, dependabl
e, and very dedicated to my profession (as an individ-ual). I do not hesitate t
o go beyond expectations while completing the task. I have a good sense of humo
r, an open mind, and a great deal of common sense. I am result-oriented and con
duct myself in a profes-sional manner at all times. I am not specifically seeki
ng a management position, even though I have man-agement experience. As far as
shift preferences go, I am flexible.
I am confident that, if hired, I will be an asset to you and your operation at a
ny capacity.
