assessment and care of inpatients with acute emergent needs, and supporting t

1993 - 2000 Staff nurse, Alexian Brothers Emergency Department, Emergency
Nursing Specialty. Multi-tasked, as needed, to meet shortages
housewide including Medical/Surgical, Psychiatric, Intensive Care,
and SNF units. Responsibilities include working knowledge of
separate departmental policies and paperwork and responding to all
cardiac/respiratory arrests.
1994-1996 Voluntary interim job responsibilities at Alexian Brothers
Hospital under newly created position of Emergency
Education Coordinator. Included some educational
presentations opened to house wide invitation at
administrative request. Organized and rallied for
educational services that led to 60% of the Emergency
Department nursing staff becoming certified in Emergency
Nursing, where previous certification was 0%. Initiated,
researched and implemented "Fast Track" time
management program for non-emergent presentations.
Average wait time savings for individual Emergency
Department patients was 22.14 minutes, resulting in greater
satisfaction and less attrition.

1992 - 1993 Staff nurse, Deaconess Medical Center Emergency Department,


Emergency Nursing Specialty. Responsible for utilization of the
principles of crisis intervention, drawing from a sound nursing knowledge
base, in order to achieve and maintain homeostasis for
presenting individuals.

ursing, performance of basic custodial care, assisting with
ADL's, vital signs and documentation, reporting, stocking, and

ACADEMIC CLINICAL EXPERIENCE:
1997 Health Outreach and Preventative Education Project, Washington
County, Missouri. Increased the acquisition and participation of southern towns
hip individuals in the Missouri Department of Health's Breast and Cervical Cance
r Control Project and Healthy Children and Youth Screening. Project included;
the execution of mobile screening exams, implementing, facilitating, and executi
ng new approaches to community outreach and education, and the identification of
and collaboration with the communities existing health care resources to meet t
he identified and perceived needs within the community. Results indicated that
over 203 families were reached within the southern townships of the county and 1
9 new screenings intents were acquired (avg. 6 screenings per week) to help meet
the overall county project goal of 20 screenings per week.

Designed, implemented, executed, and delivered a self sufficient hearing and vis
ion screening program for children in grades K-8. The program included teaching
and training of non-health care personnel and the establishment of new policy a
nd procedure guidelines within the school. Equipment was obtained without prese
nt or future cost. The program resulted in screening exams for 170 children in
the current year.
