Professional Experience
sanofi-aventis, Malvern, PA 2001-2010
Principal Database Analyst

Set up clinical databases in Oracle Clinical and Clintrial 4.3.

Developed, tested, and maintained edit checks (using PL/SQL or SQL) to
validate data from clinical drug trials in Oracle Clinical and
Clintrial environments. Created ad hoc reports for analysis of
clinical data. Perform production data corrections, as needed. Set up
eLoader mapping and assisted Clinical Data Manager with data loading
issues. Provided training for Data Management staff. Provide technical
support for up to 90 people in Data Management.
Accomplishments:
* I created a repository of frequently occurring errors, the
cause(s), and actions to be taken. By using this, the front-line
help desk staff was able to resolve customer issues without
involving 2nd-line staff each time.
* I developed and delivered a full-day SQL training class for other
Clinical Data Management staff, tailored to their specific
applications. The end users were then able to construct efficient
queries with minimal ongoing assistance from the developers.

* For larger studies, I created additional indexes on key tables,

and re-analyzed all tables on a regular basis. (This was beyond
the standard scope of the SIS department's maintenance.) This
resulted in more efficient processing for batch validation.
* Participated in the development of an Excel-based Data Validation
Plan template. I was able to provide input from a developer's
viewpoint, to a process that was historically driven by the Data
Manager. This resulted in a more useful document for edit check
programming, without the ambiguities previously found when it was
developed without technical assistance.
* I developed procedural checklists for critical, but infrequently
occurring tasks such as protocol creation, initial protocol
distribution, code list creation, and database lock. This provided
a reminder for the experienced technical staff, and served as a
complete guideline to junior staff when these tasks needed to be
performed in the absence of senior technical staff due to
vacations, etc.

Responsible for the enhancement and maintenance of two separate
Clinical Adverse Event applications (Oracle Forms 4.5, Oracle 8.0 -
one GUI system, one character-mode system. Also corrected production
data as needed (an average of 10 requests per week), as the systems
did not permit the users to do this directly. In addition, created ad
hoc reports of clinical AE data per user requests.

US Interactive - King of Prussia, PA

Member of the Y2K compliance team. Responsibilities included gathering
information needed to assess and remediate US Interactive's clients'

research was to build a client information database for USI. Another
project was to review and document USI's intranet system, to determine
future enhancements.

Performed database tuning to improve performance of BRIO Query OLAP
tool. Primarily created snapshots encompassing multiple tables to
reduce processing for the Brio tool. Created tables, snapshots, views,
indexes, and constraints using SQL scripts. I was the lead Oracle
person on a team of four consultants that included a Brio expert and
two junior Oracle developers.
