Summary Of Qualifications:
I've worked as an MS Access Database Visual Basic Application (VBA)
Programmer and ASP programmer with several companies and a IT Quality
Assurance Analyst. As a VBA Developer, I have experience in analysis,
design, development, reporting, testing, debugging and implementing
business applications using HP Quality Center, MS Access 2003, MS Access
2007, and MS SQL Server 2005. With regards to ASP development, I have
experience with Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 and other Internet technology
tools. I have begun learning MS SQL Server 2005 in several computer based
training classes and have learned VB.net using Visual Studio 2008 in
several college classes. I have developed new and supported existing
Access Databases and Web site applications using Access, ASP, JavaScript
and VBScript. I have a passion for learning and utilizing new
technologies.
Professional Experiences
Alon Inc. Consulting; Springfield, Virginia - October 2009 - August 2010
I worked as an Access Database Programmer for Alon Inc. I worked with
Immigrations and Custom Enforcement (ICE) under the Department of Homeland
Security. I developed several Microsoft Access 2003 databases that tracked
specific information about a program initiated by ICE called the 287(g)
program. I also prepared to migrate another MS Access within ICE to an
enterprise MS SQL Server database. Some of my duties at Alon included:
- Created several Access Databases from several Excel spreadsheets
and created
an intuitive user interface that is currently being used between
15 to 20 people.
- Responsible for creating new client functionality for each of the
databases.
- Developed customized reports to support client requests custom
reports.
- Began to program in MS SQL Server 2005 and migrated an existing MS
Access database into an enterprise edition of SQL Server 2005.

American Association of Retired Persons (AARP); Washington D.C. -


November 2008 -January 2009
I was an Access Database Programmer for AARP. I maintained and enhanced
several Microsoft Access 2003 databases that pertained to the marketing
aspect of AARP. I worked with large amounts of data supplied in Excel
spreadsheets and MS Word documents to import them into these databases.
Some of my duties included:
- Automated several manual data processes in the collection of data
to several MS
Access databases by the use of VBA code, forms and SQL inserts,
updates and
queries to make the databases more efficient and to protect data
integrity.
This process required careful analysis of the data to identify
duplicates, data errors
and other changes that needed to be addressed in order to
successfully import the
data into Access.
- The position required analysis, coordination and data management
skills to assist in
the requirements and implementation of a new reporting
infrastructure.
- Responsible for database reporting development to support
customer requested
custom reports.

Chevo Consulting, LLC; Rockville, MD. March 2008 - September 2008


I was an Access Database Programmer/DBA for Chevo Consulting, LLC. I
developed, maintained and enhanced a Microsoft Access 2007 Budget and
Reconciliation database. This database tracked the issuance status of
Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) ID cards for the 11
Treasury Bureaus to support OMB mandated goals for the project. Some of my
duties included:
- Developed an Access database that allowed a daily import of data
from GSA
supplied in an Excel format. This process required careful
analysis of the data to
identify duplicates, data errors and other changes that needed to
be addressed in
order to successfully import the data into Access.
- Designed, developed and produced numerous daily, weekly, and
monthly activity
reports that provided management with critical information about
progress across
the department of Treasury in meeting goals for Card ID issuance.
- Responsible for database design and modifications and report
development to
support new customer required functionality.
DB Consulting Group, Inc.; Silver Spring, MD. November 2006 -
March2008
I was a Database Programmer at DB Consulting Group and worked on several
existing Access databases. I also developed several web sites for some of
these databases in support of an on-line registration process. Some of my
other duties included:
- Provided Access Database support for a National Institute on Drug
Abuse (NIDA) database application.
- Provided Website and database development for a National Cancer
Institute (NCI) new website and backend database application.
- Created new Web Sites for Government clients using ASP, JavaScript, VB
Script and MS Access.
- Provided support for the maintenance and/or development of HUD's
Special Needs Assistance Programs (SNAPS) database application.
- Provided database development and support for a new Health Resources
and Service Administration (HRSA) database application.
- Learned new Access tools that aided in the administration and
distribution of front-end Access databases to clients.
- Created documentation on how those databases worked.
Department of Labor; Washington D.C. September 2006 - January 2007
I was a MS Access Developer contractor for the Department of Labor - OSHA.
Some of my duties at the Department of Labor included:
- Provided Access Database enhancements to an existing Access Tracking
Database.
- Provided advanced report writing in the database for managers.
- Provided Access tools that would aid in the administration and
distribution of front-end Access databases to clients.

Washington Post; Washington D.C. June 1981 - November 2006


I was a IT Quality Assurance Analyst, a MS Access developer, a Operations
Facilities Manager and a Mailer at the Washington Post. Some of my duties
at the Washington Post included:
- I was the Configuration manager of all version control for all code
that the Post programmers generated from many of its Post's IT
applications. I learned, preformed upgrades and taught others how to
use the version control tool called MKS.
- Wrote Tests Cases and Tested Washington Post IT applications using the
HP Mercury Quality Center testing suite.
- Worked with Project Managers and gave them concise and thorough
testing analysis and reports about the IT projects that they were
responsible for.
- Took several classes in the understanding and implementation of both
Quality Assurance and Quality Control for many of the Washington Post
customer web sites and in-house IT applications.
- Developed and supported several Access databases that tracked meta
data about the 250 IT applications that the Washington Post supports.
- Created many advanced reports from these Access databases that were
distributed to upper management.
- Imported existing data from excel sheets into Access Databases.
- Used SQL language to create relationships in Oracle tables to
establish data integrity.
- Served as an On-Call Point-Of-Contact person for problems encountered
by the Advertising Data Warehousing Oracle database application.
- Served as the Operations Facilities Manager for the Washington Post's
Central Computer room.
- Was responsible for the day-to-day operations in the computer room.
- Reviewed vendor contracts and ensured that maintenance and software
support was provided in accordance with contracts.
