1st Shift Operations Manager
Manage a team of 25 non-union production workers, frontloaders, scale clerk, and
warehouse forklift operators to safely manufacture the highest quality, contami
nant free product. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager on safety issues, qu
ality problems, and overall output on the dayshift, my focus has been to success
fully start a new, state of the art recycling facility. With capabilities of ru
nning 25 tons an hour of single stream recyclables, my primary function has been
working with regional managers and equipment manufacturers to fine tune the ope
rating system and optimize tonnage.

Supervised a team of 30-45 union production line operators, mechanics and electr
icians to support schedules and meet customer needs. Worked with the Quality and
Finishing Departments to ensure specifications were met. Utilized materials and
manpower to achieve optimum pounds per man-hour with the highest Overall Equipm
ent Effectiveness (OEE). Conducted team meetings to discuss safety, quality, and
production results. Oversaw process/procedural conformance, safety programs, an

Company. Worked with Area Manager to develop and maintain goals and strategies.
Oversaw staffing, quality, and equipment and housekeeping standards. Worked wit
h Maintenance and Quality Departments to reduce downtime while improving cycle t
imes. Acted as a liaison with Quality Manager with our customers in Windsor, Ont
ario. Conducted shift start-up meetings. Conducted investigations into product n
onconformities. Worked with Suppliers on incoming quality issues.
1 Decreased costly expedites which improved on-time shipments from 80 to 92% dur
ing my tenure.
2 Established new roles and responsibilities for the Tray Loader position (job e
limination with new responsibilities to another worker) that credited the compan
y with $324,000 a year.
3 Improved cycle time on Coil Assembly #5; increased output from 1,200 to an ave

5 Purchased Blocker Rolls that led to defect removal being accomplished on the G
alvanize Line, rather than being sent to another department, this eliminated 20-
30% of extra work.
