te the vision. Under his leadership, Lambent grew to a point through organic gr
owth and strategic acquisitions so that the company could achieve a liquidation
event that shareholders had waited for more than 20 years.
International Business
GM of Joseph Storey in Lancaster, England. Replaced the Managing Director, rea
ligned operations and returned to high level of profitability. Developed a mark
et conduit, traveled with sales people and started up sites that utilized the ne
w fuel technology in Spain and Italy. Started a new business in Mexico utilizin
g emulsion technology for fuel and down-hole oil field applications. This requi
red long periods of travel in Mexico which was rewarded with high contribution m
argins and volume of products sold. Achieved approval from a major power statio
n in Romania.
Strategy and Business Development Acquired a handful of business and eventually
molded them into one manufacturing site in Gurnee IL. The biggest acquisition w
as the Gurnee site from BASF, a 15 acre plant that could produce 125 million pou
nd a year of specialty esters and alkoxylated products. Along with this acquisi
tion, a very lucrative many year toll supply contract. Divested the company in
2008 to a major financial institution after recruiting over 100 buyers from stra
tegic and financial investors all over the world.
Manufacturing and Lean Operations Operated manufacturing sites for Milliken, Mon
santo, and Petroferm in many different sites in the US. Utilized Lean Operation
s out of necessity before it became a system. Took over the BASF Gurnee site an
d lowered unit cost while improving productivity, increasing capacity, and takin
g safety to new levels. Experienced all levels of chemical plants and chemical
business. At Monsanto, was the plant manufacturing representative in all phases
from design to startup of a $200 million expansion that utilized hydrogen cyani
de, a very lethal gas. Operated alkoxylation plant for the past 11 years that u
tilized ethylene oxide which is a very reactive and explosive material. Never h
ad a reportable release or injury from either of these extremely hazardous mater
ials. Instilled in every employee that safety was a part of their DNA and every
one thought about safety first.

2007 - 2010 Executive Vice President of Petroferm and General Manager of Lambent
Technologies on a mission to keep growing the company while finding a buyer.
* Developed lists of potential acquirers in the US and Europe.
* Spearheaded the development of the confidential information material about the
company.
* Executed management presentations, plant tours, and negotiations with potentia
l buyers that required long hours seven days a week, teleconferences and face to
face meetings.
* Negotiated terms which the board and shareholders agreed upon to sell the comp
any in October 2008.
* Negotiated a deal with the buyers to stay with the company under contract for
three years and after a year and a half the buyers bought out my contract.
2004 - 2007 General Manager of Industrial Chemical Division of Petroferm which i
ncluded Joseph Storey Company in England.
* In this position, I was 100% involved with the Board of Directors' meetings an
d actions.
* Acquired Hansotec Corporation (a $3 million natural wax distributor) and moved
all the business operation to Gurnee.
* Acquired Siltec (a $6 million silicone surfactant company) and moved all the o
perations to Gurnee.
* Consolidated all of Petroferm's Cleaning business and the Skokie manufacturing
in Gurnee.
* All of this was done seamlessly to the customers and while sales for all these
units grew.
* Due to driving organic growth and acquisitions, sales went from $38 million in
2003 to over $78 million in 2008.
* Contribution growth, due to driving cost down while enjoying the synergistic e
ffects of combining several business operations, skyrocketed from $6 million in
2003 to $15.9 million in 2008.
2000 -2004 GM and Vice President of Lambent Technologies, Petroferm's largest di
vision.
* Team member on the negotiation of the acquisition of Calgene Chemical site and
Hodag Chemical business from Monsanto.
* Essential part of the business to produce the chemicals needed in Mexico.
* Managed all functions of a 25 million pound a year ester and alkoxylation plan
t and business in Skokie, IL.
* Engrained safety into every employee's DNA by making everyone participate in t
he DuPont STOP program which took six months. Accidents went from 3 LTA per yea
r to over a year without a recordable drastically lowering the cost of the Workm
an's Comp insurance.
* Grew sales from $16 million in 1999 to $38 million in 2003.
* EBITDA growth from $542K in 1999 to $6 million in 2003.
* Developed a vision to be a highly ethical specialty chemical manufacturer and
formulator that everyone believed and supported.
* Identified actual cost of products through new costing system of using contrib
ution per machine hour.
* Rationalized low margin or negative margin products and stopped offering them
which increased margins dramatically.
* Organized a leadership team of top people and encouraged advanced business deg
rees.
* Traveled to all top customers to ensure that the GM is listening to them and t
o ensure sales people were effective.
* Negotiated a contract to supply ethylene oxide our largest raw material by sol
e sourcing with BASF that reduced our cost 40% or $2 million a year the first ye
ar.
* Improved the alkoxylation technology that increased the capacity by 100%.
* Hired a highly effective sales team and, for the first time ever, started a ma
rketing team focused on core markets and capabilities.
* Focused on target markets: personal care, food, lubricants, and liquid coloran
ts.
* In less than a year, became the market leader for supplying surfactants into t
he liquid colorant market by supplying a specialized molecular weight of surfact
ant.
* Developed a professional and effective website where customers could receive t
echnical and safety information about our products.
* Established morning meetings with customer service and production to ensure al
l customer ship dates were established within 24 hours and OTIF went to over 99%
.
* Grew the business until we were limited by capacity then started the acquisiti
on of the BASF Gurnee site.
* Lead the team in all phases of the acquisition of a 15 acre, $100 million repl
acement cost plant with a very lucrative five year $60 million toll contract fro
m BASF.
1993 - 2000 Business Director of Specialty Products Petroferm Inc.
* Discovered new markets for old technology and non-growing or completely dead p
roducts.
* Initiated low cost telemarketing sales which increased sales by over $1 millio
n the first year.
* Found a new market in Mexico for old fuels and oil field production technology
by finding problems that they had and offering solutions.
* Problems were brought out when I began giving technical seminars on the techno
logy.
* Started real life demonstrations of the technology at our expense.
* Leveraged the whole company on the success of these tests therefore I stayed i
n Mexico 60 days at a trip and worked seven days a week to ensure success.
* As these technologies proved to save money or increase production, the company
gained a high degree of respect within the Mexican national oil company and we
were asked to do more projects.
* Two man operation produced $6 million the first year in revenue at a profit co
ntribution of $4 million.
* This business continues to earn 25% return of EBITDA on sales today.
1984 -1993 Manufacturing Manager of Petroferm in Fernandina Beach, Florida, a ne
w surfactant startup company of 20 employees
* Manufacturing Director located and built the plant for manufacturing all neede
d products.
* Install manufacturing systems, quality systems, shipping systems, and customer
service.
* Attended University of Jacksonville to achieve MBA degree at night and weekend
s.
1979 - 1984 Manufacturing Representative Monsanto Texas City, Texas. A 2,500 em
ployee chemical site producing many hydrocarbon based commodity type chemicals.
* Manufacturing Representative to work with design engineers to make sure the de
sign met all plant standards.
* Bi-weekly meetings to review drawings and model.
* Plant for making iminodiacetic acid. This was an intermediate for Roundup mad
e from hydrogen cyanide and other compounds. Due to the highly toxic effects of
HCN, most of the plant piping and vessels were lethal service classification.
* Instilled high degree of safety in the employees.
* Trained all the engineers that trained the operating engineers.
* Wrote the training and detailed operating manuals for the plant.
* After startup, became the Manufacturing Superintendant over 55 highly unionize
d operating engineers. Eventually able to get unprecedented work practice conce
ssions due to strong labor negotiations.
* Always earned an extremely high safety record.
* Completed the startup ahead of time and below budget.
* Given personal accomplishment award and promoted to Superintendant of Phthalic
Anhydride Plant with 70 employees and an annual budget of $40 million.
* Saved the company $6 million a year by changing reactor operation philosophy.
1976 - 1978 Process Engineer for Milliken Chemicals in Inman, South Carolina, on
e of the largest privately held companies in USA.
* Process engineer for Ester and Alkoxylation process which is an extremely expl
osive and hazardous process.
* Shift supervisor for 25 million pound per year plant.
* First year's cost savings over $1 million by reducing cycle times of batch pro
cesses.
* Developed, designed, installed, and started up the first commercial process fo
r making Capture and dry carpet cleaning system.
* Learned strong work ethics by working six days a week.
