Human Biochemistry- Integrated treatment of human biochemistry and selected topi cs on the biochemical basis of human disease. Examples will be given of inherita ble and acquired disorders. Qualitative Analytical Chemistry- Quantitative analysis using statistical evalua tion of data, gravimetric, volumetric, and selected instrumental methods, includ ing spectrophotometry and separations. Chemistry of Drug Design and Drug Action- The rational basis for drug design, di scovery, and development, as well as the chemical and physical basis for drug ac tion will be discussed. Topics will include structure-activity relationships, or ganic synthesis, organic mechanisms, mechanisms of action, metabolism, toxicity, computer-assisted drug design, case studies, history, and other fundamental top ics.
