JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Provides respiratory care in Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Uni
ts rotating on two shifts.
* Performs Electroencephalogram (EEG).
* Member of the hospital Code Blue team.
* Initiation and weaning of ventilated patients, including conventional and hig
h frequency ventilation.
* Performs extubation.
* Monitoring of patients on continuous ventilation every two to three hours as
case permits.
* Performs Sleep Screening Studies in Sleep Laboratory.
* Transportation (Medical Evacuation) of ventilated patients.
* Airway management during emergency resuscitation.
* Arterial blood collection and analysis.
* Performs Electrocardiogram (ECG).
* Administration of aerosolized medication, oxygen and humidity therapy.
* Employment of chest physiotherapy and incentive spirometry.
* Provision of pre-operative respiratory prophylaxis and post-operative ventila
tory assistance to combat atelectasis.
* Performs Pulmonary Function Test.
* Performs elective and emergency intubations in the presence of the anesthesio
logist or physician-on-call.
* Assisting physicians with bronchoscopies.
* Maintenance of accurate documentation as to patient assessment after each res
piratory procedure.
* Administration of Surfactant to premature newborn babies.
* Administration of sub ambient oxygen to new born babies with cardiac problems
.
* Administration of heliox to patient with status ashtmaticus or patient with s
evere airway obstruction.
