Skills
I consider myself to be a journeyman sound mixer if there is such a thing. My p
rofessional audio career began in 1975 at Universal Recording Corp in Chicago IL
. I spent 17 years there and during that time I gained invaluable experience wi
th all types of audio recording, editing, music mixing, location recording, post
-production and even live TV production. While working long and hard hours at b
eing one of the top billing music mixers in the city , I also pioneered the use
of the multi-track tape machine along with the music console for use in audio po
st production. This led to the introduction of the Digital Audio Workstation wh
ich is commonplace today.
After leaving Universal in 1991, I spent the next 2 years as an independent engi
neer. This included audio post mixing for TV commercials and music mixing Jingle
s at several small in-house and large downtown studios of the time. I also work
ed out of my home; editing and mixing corporate sales training programs and lot
s of VO demos. Then in 1993 I was hired full time at Skyview Film and Video whe
re I did mixing and sound design for TV commercials and Promos. Three years late
r I moved over to ARU Chicago (located in the Wrigley Building) where in additio
n to audio for video I also spent a good deal of time on radio commercial produc
tion. Over a period of almost 10 years and while working full time, I also fou
nd time to mix live sound for a contemporary worship service. In addition to th
e setup and mixing duties, I also designed, oversaw and participated in the in
stallation of two complete sound reinforcement systems.
After working at ARU Chicago for over 12 years, I was unfortunately laid off in
Feb 2009 due to the economic downturn and the accompanying cost cutting trend of
our clients Since then, I have been spending my time working with my sons to
soundproof and equip a live music recording studio in Evanston IL. I have also
been helping my wife with her home business administrative duties which have i
ncluded bookkeeping, marketing, web design and simple computer IT operations.
As much as I enjoy helping out my family I am anxious to get back to work and th
erefore looking for a job in a professional audio environment that could take ad
vantage of the skills, experience and knowledge I have acquired over the years.
Thank you for your consideration.
