Chanca Piedra (THE STONE BREAKER):

A Small And Common Herb With Proven, Great And Peculiar

NOTE:
His Grace The Most Revd E. K. Mani GPJ, Archbishop Emeritus of Jos
Province and The Lord Bishop of Maiduguri, wishes to bring to your notice
this powerful but commonly available plant (Chanca Piedra). This may be
of help to People Living With HIV/AIDS and Renal Stones patients who are
not able to access or afford hospital treatment. This could be useful for
medical mission groups. Chanca Piedra can be found by roadsides, in
bushes and can be easily cultivated. (Its available at our Bishopscourt).

Dr. Baruch Blumberg, the winner of the 1963 Nobel Prize for discovering the HBV antigen,
reported that Chanca Piedra could clear up the chronic carrier state of Hepatitis B in 1988.

For medicinal purposes, crush the dried plant or its tiny leaves (and
seeds) and extract the ingredients with boiled water as we extract tea
from tea leaves. The plant should be stored up by drying inside the room
to avoid the damaging effect of sunlight. A table spoonful of powder in a
cup of hot water (much like cup of hot coffee or tea) twice daily is all you
need as food your supplement.

The medicinal power of Chanca Piedra plant is due to well researched active
ingredients which have been isolated and studied for medicinal potency. Below are
some of these Chanca Piedra chemicals whose properties explain for instance, why
among other uses, the plant:
#Removes Kidney stones and cleanses the urinary tract;
#Has strong analgesic (pain relieving) property;
#Has multiple antiviral activities against HIV and Hepatitis B viruses;
#Boosts cellular immunity;
#Protects against stomach ulcers;
#Protects the liver against damage;
#Protects against diabetic neuropathy;
#Protects against oxidants and cancers of the liver and skin;
#Reduces blood pressure and blood sugar.

CORILAGIN Antiviral Activity against Virus - HIV-1 (protease)

CORILAGIN TNF-Alpha Release Inhibition
CORILAGIN Antihypertensive Activity, Lowered blood pressure through the reduction of
noradrenaline release and (or) direct vasorelaxation.

NIRURISIDE Antiviral Activity against Virus HIV Inhibitory activity against the binding of REV
protein to RRE RNA.

REPANDUSINIC ACID A Antiviral Activity against Virus - HIV-1; Inhibited up to 90% of HIV-1
specific p24 antigen production.
REPANDUSINIC ACID A Antiviral Activity against Virus - HIV-1; Inhibited HIV-1 induced giant
cell formation of SUP-T1 by 50%.
REPANDUSINIC ACID A Antiviral Activity against HIV-1-RT and HIV-1 DNA polymerase alpha.
REPANDUSINIC ACID Antiviral Activity against Virus - HIV-1 (protease).

ELLAGIC ACID Aldose Reductase Inhibitory Activity, 6 times more potent at AR inhibition than
quercitrin.

PHYLLANTHIN Antihepatotoxic Activity against carbon tetrachloride- and galactosamine-

induced toxicity.
HYPOPHYLLANTHIN Antihepatotoxic Activity against carbon tetrachloride- and galactosamine-
induced toxicity.
PHYLLANTHIN & HYPOPHYLLANTHIN Ancticancerous Activity; No direct cytotoxic effect
noted on cancer cells, however, both chemicals shown to enhance the cytotoxic response of
vinblastine to multidrug-resistant KB cells. Suggested interaction with P-glycoprotein.

TRIACONTANAL Antihepatotoxic Activity against galactosamine-induced toxicity.

GERANIIN Immunostimulant Activity, Induced phagocytosis.

GERANIIN Cancer Preventative Activity: Pretreatment with geraniin prior to chemical induced
skin tumors reduced the percentage of tumor bearing mice from 80% to 40%.
GERANIIN Antitumor Activity: Moderate selective cytotoxicity to PRMI-7951 melanoma human
tumor cell line.
GERANIIN Antinociceptive Activity Inhibited neurochemical [3H]GMP-PNP binding.
GERANIIN Gastroprotective Activity & Antiulcerogenic Activity against HCl-NaCl induced gastric
acid backdiffusion, mucus production and mucosal ulcerations.
GERANIIN Antihypertensive Activity: Reduced the plasma noradrenaline in a dose-dependent
fashion.
