MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

SUMMARY: Engineer with over ten years experience in engineering, R&D, and manufa
cturing environment. Mechanical design principals were applied by utilizing vari
ous 2D and 3D CAD platforms. Emphasis on low cost design for: fabrication, sheet
metal assemblies and injection molded plastic parts. My experience includes str
ong ceramic machining background; design analysis, modeling, product transfer to
manufacturing and machine safety applications. I am a self-starter and a team p
layer that thrives on challenges.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
XYRATEX INTERNATIONAL, SCOTTS VALLEY, CA
MANUFACTURING ENGINEER 2005-2009
* Created and implemented Manufacturing Process Procedures (MPP)
corporate wide to establish a repetitive manufacturing process that
implemented quality checkpoints and the application of torque
specifications for critical fasteners.
* Created a torque specification chart which was implemented globally
within the corporation. This chart was a compilation of all fasteners
used by Xyratex and different material applications used in critical
assemblies. Subsequent machines fabricated with this specification
had a 90% reduction in defects.
* Assisted far-east customers in resolving mechanical issues with
critical assemblies before production was compromised.
* Created internal safety processes to handle new chemical
applications of the Disk Cleaning systems developed by Xyratex.
Defined all safety labeling of machines to comply with US, European
and Asian machine safety requirements. Utilized AUTO CAD to denote
machine safety labeling instructions.
DCI, SANTA CLARA, CA (CONSULTING)
MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER 2004-2005
* Designed new precision test sockets utilizing SOLID WORKS for the
following type of devices:
PGA, BGA, LGA, CSP and QFP test fixtures for DUT boards.
* Directed multinational/global machine shops in the fabrication of socket
components to maintain DCI's intended quality of the product.
* Assisted worldwide customers in developing sockets to their special
requirements and applications.
SANMINA-SCI FREMONT, CA
MANUFACTURING ENGINEER-CONTRACT 2003
Team partner in redesigning the manufacturing lines at the Fremont
Enclosures Division:
* Defined and developed Manufacturing process Instructions (MPI)
utilizing MS VISIO.
* Compiled and maintained Verified Operational Procedures (VOP) for
Quality Assurance.
TREND TECHNOLOGIES LLC SAN JOSE, CA
PROJECT ENGINEER II (PROJECT MANAGER) 2002-2003
Cisco and HP products were managed from NPI through production. The
following applications were utilized:
* Defined and developed manufacturing processes to expedite product
delivery and reduce waste. AUTO CAD and SOLID WORKS were utilized to
generate floor plans and tool designs.
* Compiled and tracked projects utilizing MS PROJECT. Kept projects within speci
fied scope and insured costs and schedules were maintained per projected objecti
ves.
* Interacted with worldwide Trend and customer sites for product
support and transfers. Insured that communication was on a consistant and open b
asis.
SCHULZE MANUFACTURING, UNION CITY, CA
MANUFACTURING ENGINEER 1999-2002
Design manufacturing support systems for fabrication of customer
products, utilizing the following applications:
* New Product Introduction (NPI) involvement, defined manufacturing
processes.
* Cellular Manufacturing (CM) & Lean Manufacturing (LM).
* Instrumental customer contact in Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
reviews. Insured that their designs were optimized for cost efficiency and manuf
acturability.
* Created Work Instructions / Production aids using AUTOCAD, EXCEL and
WORD 2000.
LIBERTY RESEARCH, SANTA CLARA, CA (CONSULTING)
MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER 1998-1999
* Designed new precision test sockets utilizing MECHANICAL DESKTOP for
the following type of devices:
BGA, BGA, TFBGA, QFP, SSOP and special Kapton cable test fixtures.
* Developed documentation to fabricate hardware and compiled stack
analysis to prevent any future aspect of failure in the field.
