Communications Department
To Undergo Several Alterations
By Carla Anderson i ^ J
The communications Department will be undergoing many
changes next year.
Dick Garcia will be the head of the communications department
beginning in the fall term of 1981. He explained that, "the com-
munications division now has five major areas of study."
The new majors are Broadcast Journalism, Public Relations,
News/Editorial Journalism, Radio Operations/Programming and
management, and Telecommunications Operations/Programming
and Management. &. i-T , ^^
At a communications department meeting held last Thursday,
Garcia reflected what accomplishments he would like to complete
next year. A newsletter containing information about the com-
munications field will be published monthly. "Any students in-

Garcia explained he would like to implement a news bureau for
students to "test their talents.*' The news bureau will help to pro-

In addition to these changes, Garcia wants to "incorporate com-

Next year all students in the Communications division will have
four meetings. At the meetings students can inquire about com-
