This matrix lists accepted Katrina aid donations to the United States government and
non-governmental organizations (NGO). It details the date the donation was accepted,
whether the donor was a government, a private citizen or NGO and a short description of
the gift. The DM220A was compiled on October 20, 2006.
This matrix lists nations that gave assistance for Katrina aid to the United States
government and several NGO’s. There is a very brief description of the type of assistance
offered as well as a status column that tells whether the gift arrived, was received or
pledged as of January 10, 2006. This matrix does not list any dates regarding the offers of
assistance. (In CREW’s matrix this is referred to in the appropriate date column as “Data
Not Available”.)
This matrix lists donations received by the United States government in response to the
Katrina disaster. Details include the names of the donor countries or private entities, the
offer date, a description of the type of assistance offered, the point of contact for the
donation and the status of the assistance. There is also information on whether FEMA
approved or declined the donation, as well as a FEMA-designated category of assistance.
There are several instances in the FEMA decision column where descriptions were listed
as “N/A” or “DoS?”. If the other State Department matrices did not provide any additional
information, these designations were referred to in the CREW matrix status column as
“Unknown.” The B237 document is the only State Department document CREW was sent
that lists offers of assistance that were denied.
The matrix also details cash donations pledged to and collected by the United States
government and NGO’s.
R167A : Cumulative Donations for Hurricane Relief via Treasury Electronic Systems
This matrix lists cash donations that were received through electronic wire. It states the
deposit ticket number, the date the Treasury Department posted the deposit, as well as the
location of the bank transferring the money. The R167A document does not list the date
the donation was initially offered.
