The trading company A. Johnson & Co. was founded in 1873 by Axel
Johnson. Industry, ocean shipping and trade were the core businesses
during most of the 20th century.
In 1988 Axel Johnson AB built a new business within trade with consumer
products through the acquisition of the Saba Group which included
Dagab, Saba Trading, Hemköp and Åhléns.
Three groups
The Axel Johnson Group consists of three legally and financially
independent groups of companies with a common owner,
Antonia Ax:son Johnson and family. The Axel Johnson Group also has
ownership interests in Nordstjernan AB.

Axfood is one of the Nordic region’s largest publicly listed companies in the food sector, with both
retail and wholesale operations. Retail sales are conducted through the proprietary food store
chains Willys, Hemköp and PrisXtra, and wholesale operations are conducted through Dagab and
Axfood Närlivs.
Every week, nearly 2.5 million customers visit the Axfood stores.
Axstores (formerly the Åhléns Group) is one of the leading retailing companies in Sweden specializing
in consumer goods within fashion, beauty, home and media.
The company is well positioned, commanding significant market shares in its niche sectors, attracting
more than 360 000 visitors a year every day.
At the end of 2010 Axstores operated a total of 389 department stores and stores in Sweden, Finland
and Norway.
Mekonomen is Sweden’s largest car parts chain, with customer offerings both for private and
corporate sectors. With 230 shops and nearly 1,400 affiliated workshops, the
objective is to make the CarLife easier for all customer groups.
Mekonomen is listed on the Stockholm stock exchange and since August 2006 Axel Johnson
owns 29 percent of the shares.
The investment strategy is based on a long-term ownership commitment with a clear owner
position and board representation.
Servera is Sweden’s leading wholesaler and specialist of food, beverages and restaurant equipment
for private restaurants as well as the public sector, such as schools and hospitals.
The company’s 17,000 customers cover the entire range of professional kitchens, from the

Svensk BevakningsTjänst is the third largest security company in Sweden. With more than 2,000

Services include alarm devices, surveillance, personal protection, fire protection, advisory services and
training.
