AutoCad

Objective:

To introduce the basic information, skills, and concepts related to drafting and design.
Special attention is given to sketching, measurement, multi-view drawing, auxiliary
views, working drawings, sectional views, orthographic, isometric drawings along with
AutoCAD tools and commands.

Basics of AutoCAD

AutoCAD - Outlines of Autocad, system requirements, Autocad screen, command entry,

setting up of page size, Units, Opening a drawing, Cartesian and Polar Co-ordinate
system, Absolute and Relative Co-ordinates. Using polar co-ordinates to locate points,
drawing extents, display control, zoom, drawing aids, saving the drawing & exit from
Autocad.

Draw Commands

2D Drafting & Annotation workspace, Creation of Line, Polyline, Arcs, Multi line and
Circle, Control line type-LTSCALE, PSLTSCALE, CELTSCALE and MSLTSCALE.
Polyline Edit tool, Creating circles, Regenerating drawings, extracting information from
Database. Polygon, rectangle, Transparent commands.

Edit Commands

Editing commands-Trim, Extent, Break, Fillet, Chamfer, Erase, Undo, Redo, Move,
Divide, Rotate, Scale and Length. Basic Object Selection Methods, Window and
Crossing Window, O-Snap, Grid, Layer Concept, Offset, Mirroring, Explode. Printing
concepts. Plot command, Plot settings, Plot preview, Setup Layouts in Paper Space,
Create View ports in Paper Space, Use the Properties command, Adjust the Text scale for
Plotting.

Redraw, Regenerate – Basic dimensioning: Linear dimensions, angles, circles, arcs,
styles - Edit dimensioning: Erasing, position, override, changing dimensions - Hatching-
Array-Modify – Blocks - insert block, create block, bitmap, web block, Creating Solid.

3D Modeling
Introduction to 3D Modeling, Creating Solid Primitives, Creating Models from 2D
Profiles, Creating Composite Solids, Converting 2D Objects to Solids or Surfaces.
Editing & Modifying 3D Models-Adding Detail to Your Solid Models, Converting
Objects, Extracting Geometry from Solid Models; Sectioning a Solid Model and
Generating 2D Geometry; Visualization-Using Visual Styles, Using Lights, Using
