Enporion is software and Services Company that assists its customers in reducing
the cost of their supply chain through both process and price savings.
Managed a group of strategic sourcing managers and support staff at Progress Ene
rgy to source $200M in annual spend for commodities including MRO materials, hig
h voltage circuit breakers, and steel transmission poles. This engagement includ
ed training of buyers on strategic sourcing practices and negotiations and produ
ced savings in excess of $10M annually.
Managed a group of up to 15 consultants, contractors and developers to provide t
he professional services to design and implement connections to customer Supply
Chain systems. Implemented integrations to various ERP and eProcurement systems
including SAP R3 and SRM Suite, Oracle (iProcurement and 11i), Ventyx Asset Suit
e, MRO Software (Maximo), Commerce One, and various other legacy applications.
Led Enporion's Utility Business Development. Managed sales team of three account
executives to prospect, pursue, and close new utility customers. Personally clo
sed in excess of $4 million dollars in new business for Enporion software and se
rvices over the last 3 years. Negotiated and closed contracts with key new custo
mers including Duke Energy, PNM Resources, Integrys Energy, and Puget Sound Ener

Strategic Sourcing
Led project teams of up to 30 sourcing managers, analysts, and administrative su
pport from seven electric and gas companies to complete over $200M in aggregated
contracts for various commodities including wire and cable, pipe valves and fit
tings, wood utility poles, computer equipment and office supplies. The resulting
contracts generated in excess of $5M in contract commissions for Enporion and d
elivered an average of 8% savings to customers.
Led negotiations with a major steel distributer for a $100M aggregated annual co
ntract for plate and sheet steel. The resulting contract provided for a vendor s
tocking program which allowed Enporion customers to guarantee a one week lead ti
me and competitive index based pricing in a volatile metals market.
Standardization
Led teams of up to 25 engineers and purchasing managers from six large electric
and gas utility companies to standardize material specifications for key commodi
ties. Successfully implemented joint specifications for commodities such as poly
ethylene gas pipe and electrical distribution insulators. The polyethylene gas p
ipe standardization and follow-on sourcing initiative resulted in the largest si
ngle order (in excess of $30M annually) for polyethylene gas pipe in North Ameri
can history and provided in excess of 5% customer savings and higher quality pip
e to Enporion customers.

Developed and executed a return on investment (ROI) financial model to assist 7
large electric and gas utility customers in identifying and quantifying their sa
vings and expenses related to implementing an electronic procure-to-pay process
(P2P). The model allows customers to time phase their adoption of various sourci
ng and technology services and project savings based on actual results of simila
r companies.
Provided functional product specifications for Supply Chain applications develop
ed and delivered by company's electronic marketplace to multiple Fortune 500 Com
panies. Applications included Electronic Invoicing Presentment and Payment (EIPP
), eProcurement, eSourcing, Order Management, Marketplace Catalog, Contract Mana
gement and Transaction Routing Hub.

Allegheny Energy is an integrated Electric Utility Company headquartered in west
ern Pennsylvania and operating in West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsyl
vania.
Business Strategy
Played a key role in determining the feasibility of creating a company to provid
e an electronic marketplace, strategic sourcing services, and value added servic
es for multiple electric and gas utilities. (This company became Enporion, Inc a
nd has been serving the electric utility industry since 2001). Completed commodi
ty assessments and connections studies for Allegheny and its suppliers. Provided
key input to the business requirements and technology selection process, staffi
ng of key positions, and various other startup activities for the new company.
Sourcing
Led a team of 12 purchasing managers, contractors and support staff, to provide
$200M annual procurement of goods and services for the Transmission and Distribu
tion (T&D) and Telecommunications Business Units.
Designed, negotiated, and implemented price adjustment clauses based on the Prod
ucers Price Index (PPI) and other industry accepted indices to allow for issuanc
e of long-term contracts for various commodities including treated wood utility
poles, wire and cable, and paper.
Implemented a vendor stocking program for MRO materials including pole line hard
ware and safety materials for the T&D Business Unit. This program serviced over
40 separate stocking locations in five states and represented in excess of $5M i
n annual spend.
Designed and implemented consistent and measurable performance indicators for on
-time delivery with major electrical distributers. Results were used to feed a v
endor performance system which factored into future bid evaluations.
Technology
Provided business requirements and project management for the development and im
plementation of an automated bid evaluation system. The application, designed fo
r large commodity blankets, merges bids from electronic templates provided in th
e RFP into a single file and performs an automated evaluation based on the evalu
ation criteria provided by the buyer. The system would then upload the bid infor
mation directly into the procurement system for creation of blanket purchase ord
ers.
MBE Program
Developed and initiated a corporate wide (5000+ employees) Minority Business Pro
gram focused on increasing bid participation from MBE / WBE concerns. This progr
am resulted in the increase of MBE bid participation from less than 2% to over 1
0% for a total purchasing budget of $600M in its initial year.
