PART ONE

1. Choose a country you want to visit. Go to the website. Click on the map of continents and
then the map of countries to find the country you want. Skim the introductory paragraph.
Read "Background Info", "See", and "Events." Remember to skim the information. You do
not need to read everything.

Skim the introductory paragraph on your destination. Skim for information in other sections,
such as "Environment," "When to Go," and "Events." Remember, you do not need to
understand everything.

(Remember: Just look at the site to get information for this exercise; do not give personal
information or credit card information anywhere in the website.)

2. As you skim, look for the information below:

3. Write a paragraph about your destination. Use quantifiers for count and non-count nouns in
your description. Remember to capitalize the proper nouns you use.
Example:
Canada is situated between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Much of the land is forest.
There are many mountains, plains, and a small desert. There are many different kinds of
birds. There are also a lot of national parks.

PART TWO

Work with a partner or small group. Share the information you gathered about your chosen
destinations. Ask your classmates questions about their destinations.
