Capsule Statement
This course is designed to provide participants a broad view of the project
management, an in-depth understanding of important techniques and
methodologies, and hands on practice experience of Microsoft Project 2003.
This course will dwell on the previous learning of the students in various
aspects of the management as a whole and focus their application in project
management. The course would therefore be more of a discussion/class
participation based upon student’s preparation before the class, to integrate
the learning of project management with their previous knowledge.

Learning Objectives
1. To familiarize the participants with the basic concepts of project, its
difference with function / operational work in broader business and
everyday life.
2. Understand various phases of project management.
3. Understand various processes and techniques involved in project
management.
4. To educate them what is needed to succeed as a project manager.
5. To enable students to work out required data by hand for in-depth
understanding without the help of computer.
6. To provide sufficient hands on experience to use Microsoft Project 2003
for a small project. To enable students plan manage and report on a small
project to hone their skills.

Please understand and follow following points to make good of the course.

Human knowledge is doubling every third year! So if you do not learn the art of self learning as a
continuous endeavor; you are already obsolete by the time you graduate.
The emphasis would be on the knowledge and true education which lays foundation for your
growth as successful professionals, please make sure you clear your concepts, come prepared
and go back clear headed.
Most of what I have to teach you comes from the books, not just the prescribed book. So please
take notes, be attentive in the class, ask questions and contribute.
Learning is a two way process, I appreciate healthy debate, educational discussion and positive
contributions. Besides your class participations do carry marks!!
Please carryout pre lesson study; consolidate learning of the day with post studies.
Practice is the key to success when it comes to the applications. You learn by doing things, never
underestimate the value of practice. Besides Microsoft Project is not very easy application.
1. Project Management is a very interesting and dynamic field with enormous market. Your
good effort will bring huge benefits for your upcoming life.
