4.2.1.1.1. The present indicative of the verbs in -a (1st conjugation)

The forms of the 3rd pers. sing. and 3rd pers. pl. of all regular verbs in -a are identical:
Para la tercera persona singular y plural , todos los verbos regulares tienen la misma
treminacion:

There are two groups of verbs in -a: verbs that do not take any infix (model 1), and verbs
that take the infix -ez-/-eaz-between the stem and the ending (model 2)
En en caso de los verbos con la terminacion -a , tenemos 2 grupos de verbos :
–verbos que no tienen ningun infijo( Moldelo1)
- verbos con infijo : -ez/ - eaz entre la raiz del verbo y su terminacion( Modelo 2)

A- Model 1 – without infix

1. Stem of the infinitive ending in a consonant
Cuando la raiz del infinitive acaba en un consonante , se sigue el modelo : a canta
(cantar), cuyas disinencias son: -ø, -i,- ă ,-ăm, - ați, -ă

Se conjugan como A CÂNTA los verbos:

a ajuta -ayudar a alerga -correr a arăta -mostrar
a asculta- escuchar a încerca -probar a supăra-enojar
a căuta - buscar a întreba -preguntar a ierta-perdonar
a aduna -añadir a prepara -preparar a accepta-acceptar
a discuta -discutir a spăla-lavar a căra-llevar
a explica - explicar a termina-acabar

2. Stem ending in consonant + r/-l

These verbs take the ending -u in the 1 st pers. sing.

Cuando la raiz del infinitive acaba en un consonante+ r/-l , se sigue el modelo :A

INTRA (entrar) , cuyas disinencias son: -u, -i,- ă ,-ăm, - ați, -ă

Se conjugan como A INTRA los verbos:

a afla - encontrar a umbla-andar

a contempla - contemplar a consacra-consagrar
a sufla –respirar a urla -aullar

3. Stem ending in -i after vowel

These verbs have identical forms for the 1st and the 2nd pers. sing., with ending Ø. In the 3rd
pers. sing. and pl. these verbs take the ending -e, and in the 1st pers. pl. the ending -em.
Cuando la raiz del infinitive acaba en vocal + -i , se sigue el modelo :A ÎNCUIA
(cerrar) , cuyas disinencias son: -i, -i,- e ,-em, - ați, -e

Se conjugan como A ÎNCUIA los verbos:

a încheia –terminar,finalizar a descuia –abrir(con llave)

a descheia -desabrochar a mângâia-acariciar

4. The verb a întârzia

The verb a întârzia

 to be late, to come late has identical forms for the 1 d the 2 -i. In the 3rd pers. sing. and pl. it
takes the ending -e, and in the 1 -em: singular

Se conjugan como A ÎNTÂRZIA los verbos:

a apropia-acercar a zgâria- arañar

a peria – cepillar a mânia- enfadar

5. The verb a continua The verb a continua to continue, to go on has identical forms for the
1st and the 2nd pers. sing., ending in -i. In the 3rd pers. sing. and pl. it takes the ending -ă, and
in the 1st pers. pl. the ending -ăm:

Model 2 – with the infix -ez-/-eaz-

Many verbs of the 1st conjugation take, before the regular ending, the infix -ez-/-eaz- in the
1st, 2nd and 3rd pers. sing. and the 3rd pers. pl.

1. Stem ending in a consonant, including r/l singular

Cuando la raiz del infinitive acaba en vocal -r/-l, se sigue el modelo :A DANSA
(bailar ) , cuyas disinencias son: -ø, -i,- ă ,-ăm, - ați, -ă , precedidas del infijo
-ez- en la 1 ª y 2ª persona del singular , y del infijo -eaz- en la 3ª persona del
singular y plural.

Se conjugan como A DANSA los verbos:

a cerceta-buscar a deranja –molestar a lumina –alumbrar ,
a calcula-calcular a dezarma-desarmar iluminar
a cina –cenar a dicta –dictar a nota-anotar
a cita –citar a dura -durar a ofta -suspirar
a completa- a exagera –exagerar a reproșa- reprochar
completar,llenar a forma-formar a telefona -telefonear
a corecta- corregir a fuma –fumar a vizita -visitar

2. Stem ending in c/g

These verbs preserve the velar and palatal character of the consonants -c- and -g- before the
infix -ez-/-eaz-. Thus the usage of the groups -che- and -ghe- is required in writing in all the
persons that take the infix.

Cuando la raiz del infinitive acaba en vocal -c/-g, se sigue el modelo :A PARCA
(aparcar ) , cuyas disinencias e infijos son los de a dansa (bailar), con la
particularidad de incluir la H entre la raiz y el infijo para mantener el fonema
(k) /(g)

Se conjugan como A PARCA los verbos:

a bloca -bloquear a interoga -interrogar a şoca -chocar

a dialoga -dialogar a marca -marcar
a divaga -divagar a stoca- almacenar

Cuando la raiz del infinitivo acaba en vocal -chea/-ghea , se sigue el modelo :A

VEGHEA (vigilar ) ,con la desinencia -em en la primera persona del plural y la
desinencia -eati en la segunda persona del plural :

2nd tu veghezi voi vegheați
3rd el /ea veghează ei/ele veghează

Se conjugan como A VEGHEA los verbos:

a supraveghea-supervisar
a desperechea-desparejar
a imperechea- emparejar

 4.2.1.1.1.2.3. Stem ending in -i copy These verbs take the ending -em in the 1st pers. pl. In
the 3rd pers. sing. and pl. the infix -eaz- loses its initial -e-.
Cuando la raiz acaba en -i , se sigue el modelo :A COPIA (copiar ) , cuyas
disinencias e infijos son los de a dansa (bailar), con la salvedad de la desinencia -em
en la 1 persona del plural y el infijo –az en la 3”persona singular y plural:

Se conjugan como A COPIA los verbos:

a aprecia –apreciar a invidia -envidiar a studia –estudiar

a fotografia -fotografiar a sublinia -subrayar a negocia -negociar
