Per Oscar, Dorian Gray rappresenta quello che vorrebbe essere.

Tra i personaggi è importante ricordare:

Lord Henry Wotton, che conosce nello studio del pittore, sarà molto importante per
la storia perchè è lui che, con i suoi discorsi, fa diventare Dorian ossessionato dalla
bellezza, un uomo cattivo e alla ricerca del piacere.
Sybil Vane, la ragazza di cui Dorian s'innamora. Una giovane e povera attrice di
teatro che, dopo essersi innamorata perde il suo talento: per questo viene respinta
da Dorian e per il dolore si uccise.
La donna in questo caso viene usata dal protagonita, Dorian amava il suo talento e
non la donna, portandola fino all’autodistruzione.
Questo atteggiamento disprezzante lo troviamo più volte nel libro.
Infatti Dorian vede la donna come “emancipata ma in cerca di un padrone”.
Ma possiamo vedere questo atteggiamento anche in altri libri. Lo srittore definisce la
donna:
-Priva di buon senso (un marito ideale)
-utili al perdono (un marito ideale)
-prive di memoria (da una lettera)
For Oscar, Dorian Gray represents what he would like to be.

Lord Henry Wotton, whom he knows in the painter's studio, will be very
important to the story because it is he who, with his speeches, makes
Dorian obsessed with beauty, a bad man and looking for pleasure.
Sybil Vane, the girl Dorian falls in love with. A young and poor theater
actress who, after falling in love, loses her talent: for this she is rejected
by Dorian and for the pain she killed herself.
The woman in this case is used by the protagonist, Dorian loved her talent
and not the woman, leading her to self-destruction.
We find this contemptuous attitude several times in the book.
Dorian, in fact, sees women as "emancipated but in search of a master".
But we can see this attitude in other books as well. The writer defines the
woman:
-Lack of common sense (an ideal husband)
- useful for forgiveness (an ideal husband)
- no memory (from a letter)
