Work Experience

RASHEED RAZVI & ASSOCIATES July 1 – July 29

2008
Karachi,
Pakistan
Mini-Pupillage
I was given a high level of responsibility from the first day. It would be fair to say I was
treated like any associate at the law firm. Drafting legal notices, attending the High Court
and undertaking research were part of my daily routine. Drafting legal notices improved
my ability to express myself in a clear and precise manner. The vast amounts of research I
undertook honed my ability to organise and assess large amounts of information in a
limited amount of time.

DELOITTE TOUCHE TOMATSU August 20 – September 14 2007

Karachi, Pakistan
Internship
I and an auditor were assigned the task of auditing the assets of a marketing company,
Mindshare. Auditing accounts requires a sharp eye for assessing whether the accounts are
in the correct format and whether there are any errors or discrepancies in the accounts. For
this reason auditing helped me develop a meticulous approach to editing material which
has proved to be a valuable skill for the course in drafting that I am taking as part of the
BVC.
AXIOM FUNDS June 18 – June 29
2007
London, United Kingdom
Internship
I worked with a researcher for the Axiom Commodities Fund. As part of my internship, I
was required to research possible funds that the Axiom Commodities Fund can invest into.
The research often involved reading reports on the fund in a variety of publications and
going through ratings and reviews given by agencies to the funds. This improved my
ability to analyze large amounts of information at a time while picking out the relevant
information from this large pool. Given the number of possible funds that could be
invested into and the 9 to 6 nature of the office, the internship also taught me how to work
in a time pressured work environment.
