VENDOR SCORECARD OVERVIEW

The Sample Scorecard tab is an example of a completed evaluation of vendors for a sample
project.

The Blank Scorecard is ready to use by filling in Selection Criteria appropriate to the requirements
for your project. There are standard types of criteria already filled in, as well a blank lines to add
more criteria. You can overwrite the standard criteria already filled in with your own requirements.
When done entering the lines of selection criteria, delete any blank, unused, or other lines that you
don't want to be scored. Delete the entire line, including the vendor score columns, as the Average
Score is calculated by counting the number of lines of criteria..You can replace "Company" with your
company name, if desired.

Enter a Reference at the top of your scorecard - name of RFP, Project, etc.

For each section of criteria, enter the Weighted Score. The total of all weighted scores must equal
100%. The Weighted Score is used to assign the appropriate importance to each section of
evaluation criteria. By using Weighted Scores, a vendor scoring highly in less important sections, but
low in an important section does not falsely appear to be a very high scoring vendor. It is important to
carefully weight the significance of each section before beginning your evaluations.

The Blank Scorecard is a Protected Sheet so that formulas and other standard entries are not
accidentally changed. However, all of the cells you need to access to enter your reference, criteria,
and weights, as well as score the vendors are unprotected. If you absolutely must change something
in one of the locked cells, there is no password to Unprotect Sheet (Review tab). It is important to
remember to Protect Sheet again (Review tab) before distributing the form to evaluators. If you
choose to do so, you can add a password to the protection before distribution.

You can delete or add to the number of vendors to be evaluated. You can replace the notations of
Vendor1, Vendor2, etc. with the name of the various vendors.

You can use this type of scorecard to evaluation vendors as a group, resulting in just one final
scorecard. You can also distribute the scorecard to several evaluators. Evaluator(s) should fill in their
name(s) at the top of the scorecard. You can also rename the Blank Scorecard tab to the name of
the evaulator and save all the tabs into one workbook. If you have several evaluation scores, you
can review them as a group and you may also consider combining them into one final summary of all
the scores by adding together the Weighted Scores from all the scorecards and dividing that total by
the number of scorecards for a final average of the totals.
