KINDER – JESUS DEATH AND RESURRECTION

LESSON 4- WEEK 4 – ALIVE AGAIN

APRIL 24, 2011

Bible Basis : Read

Matthew 28 : 1-8,
Luke 24: 1-12

Jesus had been dead 3 days. His followers were

disillusioned---after 3 years of hopes and expectations, their
teacher was gone. He’d died the death of a common
criminal. But at least they’d been able to secure a tomb and
give him a proper burial. When several women arrived at the
tomb to complete the final burial preparations, they were
shocked to discover that Jesus’ body was gone. It was bad
enough that Jesus had died. The thought of someone
stealing his body was almost more than they can bear. But
their hope was restored as angels announced that Jesus was
alive. The women’s heart raced as they ran to tell the
followers that Jesus had risen just as he said he would.

LESSON 4- WEEK 4 – ALIVE AGAIN
APRIL 24, 2011

Last week, we have learned how and why Jesus died on the
cross for us. But today we will learned how he rose again.
(Show them a tomb) Say : This tomb belonged to a man
named Joseph. Joseph knew about Jesus and all the good
things he’d done. Joseph took Jesus body down from the
cross, wrapped it in cloth and put it in his tomb. (You can use
a doll or you can make a play about it) People usually put big
stones in front of tombs. The stones were very heavy, and
once the stones got stuck in the entrance of the tomb, it was
really hard to move it.
But the stone in front of Jesus was rolled away, some women
who were friends with Jesus came to the tomb. They were
surprised to see that the stone was moved. Show me what
you look like when you are surprised. They wondered what
was going on so they walked over the tomb. Then they went
inside. They looked around, but they didn’t see Jesus’ body.
It was very dark in there, so they looked again. Let’s pretend
we are looking with them. We’ll have to feel our way around
since its so dark.
Jesus’ body wasn’t in the tomb. The women didn’t know
what was going on. But then two angels appeared. They said,
Why are looking in the tomb for someone who is alive?
Jesus isn’t here.Jesus is alive.”
The women couldn’t hardly believe their ears. They were so
happy. They couldn’t wait to see Jesus. They ran as fast as
they could to tell all of Jesus’ friends the good news. Jesus
was alive! After we run around the room, we will come back
at the center and sit down.
Jesus’ friends couldn’t believe it, they had seen Jesus die on
the cross. How could he be alive? They listened as the
women told them about the angels and the empty tomb. Then
later on , they saw Jesus, it was true! Jesus really was alive!
Jesus’ friends were glad that Jesus died for us then rose
again. We can be glad about that too. Let us sing one praise
song to celebrate that Jesus is Alive. (Sing, Jesus is the
Name)

Memory Verse :

CLOSING :

Jesus died for us and rose again. That is the reason we

celebrate at Easter. But Easter isn’t the only time we can
remember that Jesus is alive. Jesus wants us to remember
10 mins. him all year long. Let us close our class by thanking God.
Dear God, thank you that Jesus rose again and lives in
heaven. Help us to remember that Jesus lives all year long.
In Jesus Name Amen.
