HOME REPEATER for 3G HSDPA - 2G GPRS / EDGE

INTERNET CONNECTION
VIA 3G CELLULAR NETWORKS

IMPORTANT MARKET FACTS:

• Mobility is the main clients’

reason for subscribing to Internet
access via 3G cellular networks.
• But, once they have subscribed,
the real fact is they use it mostly
indoors, mainly at home.

• Coverage of mobile broadband is the second most valued issue

for 3G clients (Download Speed is the first one, and Security Level
the third).
• When extra equipment is needed in order to enhance coverage,
clients are highly reluctant to admit complex installations,
especially if they involve drilling walls.

INTERNET CONNECTION
VIA 3G CELLULAR NETWORKS

IMPORTANT TECHNICAL FACTS:

• Perceived coverage in 2100 MHz band - 3G networks changes

significantly from outdoors to indoors.
• A good outdoors coverage frequently becomes much weaker
when evaluated indoors. 10% of 3G clients say they are unsatisfied.

INTERNET CONNECTION
VIA 3G CELLULAR NETWORKS

IMPORTANT TECHNICAL FACTS:

• In order to increase the perceived indoors signal strength, B-node

stations frequently increase their transmitted power.
• As an unintended consequence of this, they increase their mutual
interference outdoors, and the whole network capacity becomes
smaller.

4
RETEMSA’s SOLUTION

• Very small size, domestic repeater

for enhancing indoors coverage.

• Models for 850, 900, 1800, 1900 and

2100 MHz bands.

• Able to work with 3G HSDPA and

2G GPRS / EDGE technologies.

5
REAL PLUG & PLAY SOLUTION:

• Absolutely NO installation costs. Neither works nor engineering

required at all. No need of wall drilling or outside antenna.
• EasyBoost can be put to work by the end user with no technical
skills.
• Coverage is improved in a fast, simple and cost-effective way.

6
REAL PLUG & PLAY SOLUTION:
• The end user receives it at home, plugs it into an AC plug, with the
included AC/DC converter (similar to those used with cell phones or
laptops).
• EasyBoost must be placed where at least some weak signal is
received (e.g. near a window). Then, just wait for this:

videoconference.
“TRAFFIC” indication lights when the repeater is handling Up-link traffic. 7
• Gain is automatically adjusted by the device, in order to optimize
the link budgets (Up-link and Down-link).
• Maximum gain 95 dB.
• Maximum output power: +23 dBm (Up-link, for 850 and 900 MHz
bands. See details in the MAIN FEATURES table).

Up to 95 dB

8
• EasyBoost provides benefits not only for its users, but for all the
network, since it makes no longer necessary the extra-power
transmission by the B-node stations (and the resulting mutual
interference).

9
• Small donor and coverage antennas supplied with the device or
built-in inside it.
• EasyBoost avoids self interference between both antennas by using
RETEMSA’s proprietary “Switched Technology” for interference
cancellation.
• Switched Technology allows gain values up to 70 dB over the
antenna isolation value.

• EasyBoost can work with

multiple, factory programmable,
working band configurations
(Single-band, Split-band), by
using digital filters.
• This allows working band
tailoring, to meet the band
allocated to the network operator.

10
• Unnecessary noise contribution to the network is avoided by using
proprietary SSP algorithms (“Start on Signal Presence”).
• Dynamic margin 70 dB.
• Intended to operate at the cell’s edge (CPICH / RSSI < -95 dBm)
• Coverage is enhanced with full GPRS and EDGE features. For 3G
systems, HSDPA data speed > 500 kbps.

11
• Easily customizable for meeting a network operator’s own
corporative look.
