Rasa Aushadhi Common Diseases in GAP Conclusion
Introduction to Rasashastra
 In recent years –
 Pollution,
 Radiation and
 Mental stress have become regular
occurrences in people’s lives.
 These problems, compounded by improper
lifestyle practices have led to imbalances in the
body.
 Over time, these imbalances have caused a host
of –
 serious diseases,
 allergies and
 auto-immune disorders. 3
Introduction to Rasashastra
 Contemporary systems of medicine, although very

effective in suppressing the symptoms of such
problems, -
 has not yet found permanent solutions to most
of these difficult and so-called incurable diseases.
 It is a fact, that in last few centuries in India,
Vaidyas have been able to help many of patients
from all over the world suffering from difficult and
incurable diseases and all this was possible due to
the use of Rasa preparations.
 Rasa Shastra, however, provides a genuine
solution.

 Reasons of Rasa-Aushadhi lack
practices are –
 Scared of Toxicity
 Lack of talent of choosing
 Hindrances in packing
 Global Non availability
 Global non acceptance

Advantages of Rasa Shastra preparations

 Some features that make Rasa Shastra preparations
more advantageous than the other preparations are:
 They work in smaller doses and are faster in action.

 If taken with honey, Rasa preparations get absorbed
quickly into the body’s deepest tissues.
 They act as a metabolic catalyst - carrying the
potency of the herbs they contain directly - to the cellular
level.
 The efficacy of some Rasa preparations increases over
time and hence they have no expiry date.
 The availability and preservation of Rasa medicines is
much easier than herbal preparations.
 The taste of Rasa medicine is generally neutral and
easy to administer. 6
Why use Rasa medicine?

 The subtlety of Rasa allows it to ‘slip’ between the smallest bodily channels (srotas)
and penetrate into the deepest tissues carrying its highly potent charge. If regular
herbal remedies are considered an attack force targeting a specific disease,
 Rasa medicine is the equivalent of a nuclear strike.
The main advantages of Rasa medicine is its –
 Potency,
 Effectiveness and
 Longevity
 Rasa medicine is usually –
 Tasteless,
 Odourless and
 Requires only a Miniscule dose to deliver a strong and lasting effect.
 Also, it is not needed over a long period of time.

Problems in Rasa medicine?
 Preparation of the Rasa Aushadhi is slow and

painful
 All Rasa materials have a purification procedure
before being administered into the human body.
 Poorly prepared or un-purified Rasa
medicine can be highly toxic and endanger the
life of a patient.

the effort of many “Siddhas” and “Nagarjuna”.
 The Omnipotent Element to combine and
Cure is “Mercury” – Purified – Parada in
purification expressions are -
 Asuddha Rasa – impression of Shiva - Toxic
 Suddha Rasa – impression of Brahma – Productive
 Baddha Rasa – impression of Vishnu – Sustainer

Aushadha Kala
• Ayurveda refers to AGNI (Jatharagni) and the

Dravya processed by it –
• The Rasaaushadhi – absorbs commonly in the
oral mucosa with the vehicle of Honey
(monosaccharide) - No Jatharagni Intervention
• Mayuracandrika bhasma is given on empty
stomach – also no Agni Intervention
• Metalic preparations (Loha) given with Ghrita is
better for long action - Require jatharagni
• Parpati – requires the Agni intervention and
given before to the food – Pragbhaktam /
Antarabhaktam
• The dravyas of volatile in nature are given after
food for lasting effect – Eg. Srikaraamodini

Nomenclature magnanimity
• The names of Rasa medicines are self

explanative to the physicians needs –
Examples are –
• उ – Uttara – the later part of (excretion)
• म – no / not – or stopped
• शं – shamayati / mangalam = makes
good & pacified (ailment)
• भु - sattayam – exists / generates
• उम शंभु रस ् = Over fluid excretion (urine)
is stopped and makes good to body &
regenerates the tissues of the concern
vitiated in “Madhumeha” “Diabetes
mellitus”

the notice of Nomenclature magnanimity of the
medicine.
• The mentioned medicines are of my 30 years
practice only
• Many legends of Rasa – prepare and mastery at
individual preparation methods – such as Pottali,
Parpati, Sindhuras, etc.
• An effort is made to bring Rasa experiences to
the present day learners in and as “Evidence
based Ayurveda Medicine”.

चारु चारु समायुक्तं िहं गुजीरक संयुतम।्

लवण हीन न शोभन्ते पालाश कुसुमं वृधा ॥
 Not added “Salt” in “Rasam” even though
fragmented with Asafetida and Cumin is like
“Forest Flower” in the “Deep Forest”
 No appreciation - Never it gets . . .
 The same way – in General Practice of Ayurveda
with out Rasa-Aushadhi practice is incomplete.
 Though Rasaaushadhi is said as best by text –
not practiced by a GAP is like a “Forest Flower”
