1. Introduction
This document describes the AutoCall setting for MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) service
in XCAL drive test solution. It acts as a quick guide on how to send/receive MMS test. This
document is written based on XCAL-W 3.2.8.16 under WCDMA network. The setting applies to
both Qualcomm and Nokia WCDMA chipset. The CDMA/EVDO SMS testing is not applicable.

To test Send MMS and Receive MMS simultaneously, user shall configure two laptops with two
XCAL. First laptop should configure to Send MMS, while the second laptop configure to
Receive MMS. Configure one single laptop will not achieve this testing purpose.

2. Create AutoCall Scenario

2.1 Start AutoCall Scenario

1. Click AutoCall Button in the icon bar to invoke AutoCall Scenario Setting window.
2. Click Create New Scenario button to invoke AutoCall Setup window.

2.2 Send MMS Setting

This session describes how to setup “Send MMS”. “Send MMS” connect to the MMS server
and deliver the MMS to the designated recipient.

3. Enter any name of the scenario. (e.g. SendMMS, TxMMS)

4. Select SMS&MMS(3GPP) and MMS Send tab.
5. Enter the call timer setting (in unit of second).

Field Value Range Description

Idle Time 0 - 10000 Idle period before call test started.
Setup Time 1 - 10000 Maximum time to setup radio link connection. Call
result is Setup Fail when mobile fail to setup radio
connection within this timer.
Traffic Time 1 - 500000 Maximum time to connect to MMS Gateway/Server
and completing send MMS. Call result is Timeout
when MMS fail to send within this timer.
Call Count 1 - 10000 Number of MMS call test. (Each call test include
sending one MMS)
Total Time (sec) 1 - 520000 Total time of the test call. (i.e. UE initiate a new
call every Total time, whatever call even has

happened within this time interval. This value has

to be larger than the sum of Idle Time, Setup Time
and Traffic Time.

6. Fill in the MMS Server Settings. This setting should be provided by the Mobile
Operator. XCAL provide a list of reference MMS server setting. Click “Click here” and
select from the list. (See MMS Server Setting List)

Field Need Description

APN Mandatory Access Point Name of the network
Server Mandatory URL of the MMS Server.
(e.g. http://mms.abcdef.com:8080/)
Login Optional Login name to the MMS Server
Password Optional Password to the MMS Server
Gateway Mandatory MMS Gateway IP address
(e.g. 10.50.21.40)

7. Fill in the MMS Message Contents

Field Need Description

To Mandatory Mobile number of the MMS recipient. (Country
code may be required. e.g. +85222107004)
Subject Optional Text of the MMS subject
Body Optional Text of the MMS body message
Image Optional Image file to be added in the MMS

8. Click Ok button.

2.3 Receive MMS Setting

This session describes how to setup “Receive MMS” AutoCall setting. Receive MMS wait until
MMS arrived. When there is no MMS arrived after Setup time, the call result becomes Idle
state.

3. Enter any name of the scenario. (e.g. ReceiveMMS, RxMMS)

4. Select SMS&MMS(3GPP) and MMS Recv tab.
5. Enter the call timer setting (in unit of second).

3. Start the MMS AutoCall

The MMS AutoCall is created in the Alias List.
1. Drag and Drop the MMS call scenario to the Mobile.
2. Click OK

4. MMS Call Statistics

The overall MMS Event can be viewed in Call Statistics Window.

5. MMS Server Setting List

XCAL provide list of MMS Setting of most of operator in the world. Select the mobile operator
from the table and double click on it. The setting will be added to the AutoCall setting
automatically.

Remarks: Operator may change the MMS Server setting without notice. Please consult the
mobile operator for setting.
