Application Deadline • Admission for Semester 1 (Spring): October 30 of previous year
• Admission for Semester 2 (Fall): April 30
Application Details All application documents and materials should be submitted and
managed through the International Office of the home university of
exchange students.
1) Application for admission (using designated form)
2) Certificate of enrolment
3) Latest official transcripts
4) A letter of recommendation issued by President or Dean
5) Autobiography and study plan (using designated form)
6) Photocopy of passport
7) Bank statement with deposit of more than U$ 5,000
Application Procedure • The application should be consulted and processed between designated
staff members at home and host institutions, not on an individual basis.

• Graduate students can get an official admission only after being


reviewed and approved by the department or laboratory of their chosen
fields.
Qualifications Exchange students do not need to take any Korean Language Proficiency
Test before entering Inha University. However, they are recommended to
take Korean Language Courses at Inha.

Visa Requirement • Foreign students seeking study in Korea should have a student
visa(D-2) which can be obtained in the nearest Korean Embassy or
Consulate. When applying for visa, students are required to submit
“Certificate of Admission” which will be officially issued by Inha
University.

• Every foreigner, who wishes to stay in Korea more than 90 days, should be
registered and issued an “Alien Registration Card” at Immigration Office in

Korea.

Arrival Day Exchange students are expected to arrive immediately before each
semester starts according to the dormitory schedule.
• Spring 2009: February 27
• Fall 2009 : August 28
Airport Pick-up Airport pick-up service for arrival days will be arranged at a reasonable
cost. Students from partner universities which provide free pick-up
service for Inha students will be waived the service fee.
Insurance All international students are expected to obtain insurance coverage.
International students can purchase insurance policy from any insurance
company in Korea or in their home country, but their insurance policy
should cover accident/illness more than USD 10,000. International
students may also purchase insurance after they arrive at Inha.
Accommodation • Exchange students will be guaranteed on-campus housing at their
own expense.
• Application for on-campus housing should be made when
submitting the admission application materials and payment can be
made in cash upon arrival.
• Dormitory fees (Spring 2009)
- Dormitory 1 - KRW 824,300
- Dormitory 2 - KRW 875,300
※ 4 people, shared bathroom & shower room
• One semester runs for 16 weeks, and approximate costs of KRW
500,000 are needed for each winter/summer break additionally.
• Dormitory fees will be subject to change each semester.
• Exchange students are allowed to accommodate only at quadruple
rooms.
• Breakfasts and suppers for Monday through Friday are included in the
dormitory fees shown above. All lunches and meals for weekends and
holidays should be purchased separately.

Academic Schedule ▣ Semester 1 (Spring)


• Classes: early March ~ mid June (16 weeks)
• Summer Vacation: mid June ~ late August
• Summer Session: July (4 weeks)

• Classes: early September ~ mid December (16 weeks)
• Winter Vacation: mid December ~ late February
• Winter Session: January (4 weeks)

Courses for Exchange • Foreign exchange students are free to choose courses regardless of their

• Korean language courses are offered for foreign students.

(2 credit for each course)
- Graduate : Beginner/ Intermediate (0 credit)
※ Students who want to take intermediate class will be asked to take
the level test for placement. Only students who scored 40~79 out 100 can
take intermediate class.
Average Courseload per • Undergraduate: 3 ~ 21 credits
Semester • Graduate: 3~9 credits
※ Most classes at Inha are given three hours per week, which means that
they are designed as three-credit courses. One credit hour equals 16
contact hours with the exception of experimental courses being 32 hours.

Tuition Fees Admission and tuition fees are waived during the exchange period.

Estimated Living Minimum living expenses are estimated at about ₩500,000 monthly.
