This informational report is about the current situation of the


Wateen telecom private limited, the large telecommunication
service provider in Pakistan. They are one of the top companies of
the Country with a massive share in the telecommunication
sector. This information would certainly help us in knowing the
current position of the company.

EXCUTIVE SUMMARY
Wateen Telecom has become a valuable choice among all
telecommunication sectors. Wateen Telecom is the first company in the world to
roll-out a WiMAX network at a country-wide scale. WiMAX is a standards-based
technology enabling the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an
alternative to wired broadband like cable and DSL. With globally renowned partners
such as Motorola, Cisco, and Intel, the stage is set to revolutionize the way you use
technology! With Wateen’s WiMAX network. It is a public limited company.
Market research shows that Wateen is competing their competitors very well
by giving low price packages, especially for the students. Wateen telecom is
a customer oriented organization. it was started in 2002 in Pakistan and in
Sahiwal in 2006. Its main head quarter is in UAE and in Pakistan its head
quarter is located in Lahore. It has launched different internet devices at
optional prices depending upon their quality. Bank Alfalah holds more than
51% share of Wateen telecom. Its price per share is 10 Rs. Wateen provides
valuable employee benefits and career opportunities.

2. INTRODUCTION

Wateen Telecom, Pakistan’s largest communication company in the private


sector has become the detrimental catalyst that has rampantly moved
forward the country into a digital revolution with its ability to seamlessly
connect and enable smarter, faster, cost-effective and flexible
communication solutions to reach its valued customers. Wateen Telecom is
the Abu Dhabi Group's latest venture in Pakistan. After the successful launch
of Warid Telecom in Pakistan, which has a subscriber base of over 10 million
customers in 145 cities, Wateen Telecom has been set up to become the
leading "Carrier's Carrier"providing services based on quality, reliability and
affordability in the communication and media sector. Wateen is committed
to bring Next Generation services to your doorstep. As well as Wateen
Telecom is the Abu Dhabi Group's latest communication investment in
Pakistan. Wateen Telecom's current goals are to be set up as the leading
"Carrier's Carrier". With the collaboration of Motorola, they plan on deploying
a WiMax (Wireless High Speed Connection) country-wide network across
Pakistan. This network will become one of the largest of its kind in the world.
Wateen also envisions the
provisioning of Direct-to-Home television services for Pakistani viewers. The
commercial launch of Wateen 's WiMax (Wireless High Speed Connection)
services began with 22 major cities. Wateen uses MOTOwi4 WiMax (Wireless
High Speed Connection) by Motorola. Other partners include Cisco, and Intel.
Wateen is giving CPEi 600 & CPEi 300 to its indoor usage while CPEo400 for
outdoor usage to its customers.

H.H. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan – Chairman of the Board

His Highness Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan – Member of the Royal


Family of Abu Dhabi‚ Minister for Higher Studies and Chancellor of the
University of Al Ain. His Highness Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan is the
Chairman of the Company and takes keen interest in the management of
Wateen Telecom. His Highness Sheikh Nahayan is the Federal Minister for
Higher Education and Scientific Research for UAE and is also Chairman of
Union National Bank‚ Abu Dhabi‚ and Chairman & Director of United Bank
Limited‚ Pakistan. His Highness is also Chancellor of the Al Ain University and
President at the Higher Colleges of Technology‚ Abu Dhabi. His Highness is
also the Founder Chairman of Bank Alfalah Limited‚ Pakistan.

H.H. Sheikh Saif Bin Mohammed Butti Al Hamid

H.H Sheikh Saif Bin Mohammed Butti Al Hamid is the Vice Chairman and

Mr. Ahmed Darwish Dagher Al Marar

Mr. Ahmed Darwish Dagher Al Marar is the Vice-Chairman and Managing


Director of “Al Ain International Group”, which is the holding company owned
by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He is a member of the
Committee supervising the expenditure of Abu Dhabi International airport,
and also the director of “Presidential Flight”. Mr. Marar served at various key

Mr. Bashir A. Tahir


Mr. Tahir is a prominent and revered corporate figure who has added

Pakistan. He is a Member of the Board of Wateen Telecom, Board Member
and CEO of Warid Telecom International, LLC and CEO of the Abu Dhabi
Group which has been a key proponent in attracting private investment into
Pakistan.

Mr. Parvez A. Shahid

With over thirty years experience in the financial and telecommunication


sectors, Mr. Shahid is a distinguished name in the corporate sector in
Pakistan. He is one of the key individuals who have helped instill best
practices in quality assurance, strategy and innovation in the financial,
communication and real estate sectors of Pakistan. Mr. Shahid is a member
of the Board of Wateen Telecom as well as Warid Telecom.

Mr. Mohamed Amersi

Mr. Mohamed Amersi is one of Europe’s leading M&A and Corporate Finance
lawyers. Structuring some of the largest private placements of this decade,
Mr. Amersi acquired an expertise in Wireless, Data, Internet, and Content
Media segments of the communications industry and has focused exclusively
on this sector for the last few years, serving as a Board Member for some of

Wateen Telecom is a Pakistani telecommunication company based in


Lahore, Pakistan and is a sister concern of Warid Telecom.

With the collaboration of Motorola, they plan on deploying a WiMax country-


wide network across Pakistan.

The commercial launch of Wateen 's mobile WiMAX services began with 22
major cities.

Wateen uses MOTOwi4 WiMAX by Motorola. Other partners include Cisco,


and Intel. Wateen is giving CPEi 600 & CPEi 300 to its indoor usage while

CPEo400 for outdoor usage to its customers.Now offering its services on
easily portable USB Dongles.

Wateen Telecom Ltd. provides end to end telecom services like -Wimax,
Fiber Optic and Satellite services to retail and corporate clients. This gives
Wateen a competitive edge of providing differentiated solutions having
presence in all four provinces of Pakistan and abroad. Wateen is offering
110 mn shares and a Green-Shoe option of 90 mn shares amounting to PkR
2,000 mn. Our estimated DCF based fair value of the stock is PkR 17.42 thus,

offering an upside potential of 74.2%. Wateen offers an attractive FY11-13
earnings CAGR of 29%. It is offered at an attractive FY11 earnings multiple of
6.76x as compared to PTCL’s PE of 11.0.

12. CONCLUSION

As a tele-communication service provider the company has done well job in


Pakistan. It is a newly built company; therefore it is not fully able to provide its
services all over the country. But they have expanded their network rapidly so it
can be said that Wateen will be well established in the coming years because its
executives and employees are proving this all by their efforts. In Pakistan its future
is very bright because they have competed their competitors by taking advantages
of the marketing atmosphere that suited them well.
