Type of research:
Descriptive research.

Need for research:

A supply chain is a network of facilities and distribution options that performs the functions
of procurement of materials, transformation of these materials into intermediate and finished
products, and the distribution of these finished products to customers. Supply chains exist in
both service and manufacturing organizations, although the complexity of the chain may vary
greatly from industry to industry and firm to firm. Supply chain management plays a very
important role on production, cost, and delivery.

In supply chain, logistics plays a major role, since getting the goods at the right time and right
quantity without any damage is crucial. There may be chances of uncertainty in delivering the
goods; especially in delivering the goods to retails stores from a centralized warehouse is a
critical task. Derby is one of the leading menswear retailer who has several retail stores

feasible solution for the same.

Methodology:
The data collection method planned is primary method which includes personal interaction
with management staff at Derby’s retail backend office located at Egmore, Chennai.
Collecting information about the network model for the logistics activities from the
warehouse to the various retail stores located in Chennai. Critical Path Analysis will be the
tool used for developing the network model for logistics activities.
