With over 150 bands across 7 stages and an unparalleled range of
entertainment, food and camping options, OXEGEN 08 is once again
shaping up to be the ‘greatest rock ‘n’ roll weekend of the year.’

In this handy guide you will find all the information needed to make the
most out of your weekend. With information on food, entertainment and
where to get assistance when you need it; this guide will help
prepare you for the weekend ahead.

Upon entry to the festival you will be given a wristband which you
should wear at all times. Please also keep your ticket on you at all times
– you may be ejected if you can’t show both ticket and wristband.

Over the course of the festival there will be Info Stewards in blue
tabards to assist with information, directions, etc. Alternatively, download
a copy of the sitemap and check out what’s what in advance of the
weekend. Simply click on ‘At Oxegen’ and follow the instructions there.

OXEGEN the greatest rock and roll
weekend of the year gets underway and tents,
wellies, sunscreen and the all important toilet paper
are being packed in bags all over the country.
The festival has been extended to 3
days - with the campsite opening from
12 noon Thursday 10th July 2008. With
70,000 fans camping we all need to work together
to ensure that everyone has a safe and seriously
good time!
We would like to highlight the following key
safety initiatives that have been put in place
for the 80,000 music fans who are set for an
amazing weekend!
1. The Campsite opens at 12 noon on Thursday
10th July, and closes on Monday 14th July at 6pm.
Car parks will be open from 10am on Thursday
and close at 6pm on Monday. Between these times
the campsite and car parks will be open 24 hours.
The arena will be open from 5pm on Friday and
1.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Please
pace yourself across the weekend and on Monday
please take your time and care when leaving site -
remember campsite/carpark open until 6pm
2. Age Limit - OXEGEN is strictly 17s and over
only - ID is required and will be checked rigorously
before entry. Please note that under 17s must be
accompanied by a guardian or relative over the age
of 25 who will sign for and accept responsibility
for said person. Under 17s who do not comply
with this will not be admitted and will not get a
refund. Everyone will be expected to provide proof
of age; a Passport, Drivers Licence or Garda I.D is
accepted. Garda I.D is necessary for over 18s to
purchase alcohol. Maximum of two pints purchased
at any one time.

3. Children - There are no facilities on site for
children under five. OXEGEN is not a suitable
environment for children under 5 and we advise
against bringing young children. There is a specific
campsite for families with children under 12 and a
special pass is required in advance to gain access
to this area.
4. Special Needs facilities and car parking is
available at OXEGEN, full details of which can be
found on www.oxegen.ie or by calling the hotline
on 0818 715658 or +3531-2841747 and asking
for Customer Care.
5. Promoter recommend patrons use
Public Transport leaving the car at home and
availing of one of the many public transport options
available. Dublin Bus, Bus Eireann and private
bus companies have hundreds of buses available
to festival goers - so why not take them up on the
offer. Check out www.dublinbus.ie or
www.buseireann.ie or your local Ticketmaster
outlet for more information.
An Garda Siochana have an extensive traffic

OXEGEN 08 will also have two FREE Park
and Ride facilities with FREE direct shuttle
service to concert site - Park and Ride North
at Goffs, Junction 8 off the N7 and Park and Ride
South - Junction 10 off the M7. Parents please note
there are NO private car or Taxi drop off
points allowed at the concert site these
are located at the two Park and Ride - a
FREE shuttle bus will take you right into
the heart of the festival instead.

If you must drive, please Car Pool filling your car
with friends. Free parking at site with 4 persons or
more otherwise a charge of 30 euro per car applies.
Private cars travelling to the festival
should expect long delays (minimum 1 hr)
when travelling to and departing the site
as public transport receives priority.
Anyone parking illegally on site or on
public roads around the site will have
their car towed or clamped with a release
fee of 500 euro.
Never drink and drive. Always have
a designated driver or preferably use
public transport.
6. Tickets - There are a limited number of
weekend camping tickets on sale from
outlets nationwide. Please do not purchase
from unofficial sources. Please note to camp at
OXEGEN you need to have a Camping Ticket; this
also allows entry into the Arena.
7. Promoters are committed to creating
a safe and secure environment for all
festival goers both on the campsite and in the arena
working very closely with many different crowd
safety experts including Gardai, Safety
Consultants, Fire Service, Ambulance and
Paramedics and Security organisations.
There is an overall total of 2,000 security personnel
working rotation as follows to ensure security is
present on a 24 hour basis. Campsites days
301, campsites nights 526, Arena 661,
Carparks days 85, Carparks nights 119,
Arena Site nights 42, Bars 60, local
resident security 210 (Source - OXEGEN Event
Controller Sophie Ridley, 30th June 2008).
There are also Watchtowers, Professional
Fire Fighters, Civil Defence Fire Fighting
Units and a total of 250 medics working
rotation including First Aid, Accident and
Emergency 24 hour Field Hospital,
Doctors and A&E consultants, Welfare and
Counselling services as follows:

Arena during opening hours: 7 doctors, 7
nurses, 20 paramedics, 78 first aiders, 6 Ambulances
crews, and welfare staff.
There are also 200 information stewards
throughout the festival site and a dedicated
transport information office.
A total of 210 Gardai (Source – Sgt. Tim Burke,
Naas Gardai 30th June 2008) will be on duty over
the total duration of the event working shift rotation
and including two on site Garda stations.
8. Fans are encouraged to make use of the
safety lockers on site for storing personal items
and with a number of ATMs on site, promoters
encourage all fans NOT to carry large sums
of cash and to leave valuables at home.
Beware of pilfering.
9. Trading - No unauthorized trading is permitted
on or off site. Official merchandise and camping
equipment is available on site.
10. Local Residents - OXEGEN would not be
possible without the fantastic support of the local
communities of Naas and Punchestown. Please
show your consideration and appreciation to local
residents by leaving the festival site in an orderly
and quiet manner. Respecting the property of local
residents and not littering.
11. Fires - Lighting fires is dangerous and may
be a criminal offence. Anyone engaging in such
activities will be ejected without refund.

everyone is safe and has fun so your
co-operation is appreciated to make this
the best festival yet.

 GETTING THERE
ALL YOUR TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
There are a number of ways to get to this year’s
OXEGEN, but organizers have encouraged festival
goers to use public transport and book their tickets
well in advance. As well as everyone doing their bit
for the environment, public transport is by far the
most convenient method of travelling to OXEGEN.
By Bus
Both Dublin Bus (www.dublinbus.ie or by calling
+353 1873 4222) and Bus Eireann (www.
buseireann.ie or by calling +353 1836 6111)
provide bus services to and from the festival.
Dublin Bus is perfect for those travelling from Dublin
and elsewhere in the world. Dublin Bus operates a
shuttle service for the Dublin to Punchestown part of
the journey and the Airbus from the airport does the
rest for those coming from further afield.
Bus Eireann operates on all other routes from various
locations in Ireland.
On return, all bus services depart from the bus car
park near the main entrance. Here there is also a
Transport Office to help with timetables and all other
travel related queries.
OXEGEN also discourages drink driving and by
using public transport festival goers can remove any
doubt that they are able to drive home.
By Train
Train services are also on offer to ensure festival
goers get to and from Punchestown safely. The
nearest train stations are Sallins and Naas, while
Dublin train station is slightly further afield and can
be connected to Punchestown via bus. Full rail details

FREE Park and Ride
The park and ride initiative is just one of the many
ways in which OXEGEN encourages a more
environmentally friendly approach to festival going.
There are two Park and Ride sites (North and South)
for this year’s Oxegen:
PARK AND RIDE GOFFS (OFF JUNCTION 8, N7)
PARK AND RIDE NEWHALL (OFF JUNCTION 10, M7)
If you do not have a premium car park pass simply
drive to, or get dropped off at, the OXEGEN
Park and Ride site, and take the free shuttle bus
to OXEGEN. There are no drop off and pick up
facilities on the OXEGEN site for private cars.
By Taxi
If you are coming to OXEGEN by Taxi, you will be
dropped and collected from a special Taxi area.
By Car
If you must drive, please try and car pool and
fill your car with other friends who are travelling
to OXEGEN.
Festival goers buying four weekend camping tickets
for OXEGEN 2008 can claim a free car park pass.
Passes are limited and issued on a first come, first
served basis. Campers camping in the Red Campsite
should choose the Red Cark and those in the Blue
Campsite should choose the Blue Carpark.
For those travelling by car, the car parks open at
10am Thursday and close at 6pm on Monday and
are open 24hours a day between these times.
Once purchased, a car parking ticket is valid for the
full weekend. While exiting and re-entering the car
park is permitted, it is discouraged and there is no
guarantee that you will get back into the same car
park on re-entry.

Approach Routes To Punchestown
Please plan in advance how you will get to and from
OXEGEN. There are two traffic routes to Oxegen
the Red Route and Blue Route.
Remember, if you have a Red Camping Ticket take
the Red Route to Red Car Park and Red Campsite. If
you have a Blue Camping Ticket take the Blue Route
to Blue Car Park and Blue Campsite.

Blue Route from North: via M50 to N7 exit at
Naas North (junction 9) to R445 and R410 to
Punchestown.
Blue Route from South:via M7 exit at Naas North
(junction 9) to R445 and R410 to Punchestown.
Red Route to Red Car Park and
Red Campsite
Red Route from North: via M50 to N81 to
Blessington to R411 to Punchestown.
Red Route from South: via M7 exit at Curragh /
Newbridge (junction 11) to R413 to Athgarvan to
Punchestown.
Routes will be signposted either “Oxegen Red
Route” or “Oxegen Blue Route”.
To further deter any interference with vehicles, glove
compartments should be opened to show that there
is nothing valuable stored within.
On site there will be a tow truck and jump start
service available. For any car related problems,
there is also a Car Park HelpZone. Festival goers
need to beware of parking in the wrong place or
parking without parking tickets as the tow trucks will
tow and clamp anyone parked illegally.
Please do not drop off or collect passengers from
the roads surrounding the site; designated drop off
points are provided in all car parks for private cars
to ensure your safety.
Any tents pitched in the car park will be removed,
people may sleep in cars but there is strictly no
camping in the car park. While belongings will be
looked after, organisers will not be held responsible
for these.
By Aeroplane
If you’re jetting in for the Greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll
Weekend of the Year you’ll arrive at Dublin Airport,
from there take either Dublin Bus 747 or the
Aircoach service to O’Connell Street, walk 300m to
Parnell Square North where you can catch a Dublin
Bus Shuttle to Punchestown. See www.dublinbus.ie

The Gardai and Stewards are on hand to provide

parking directions and help.

Car sharing is encouraged as parking tickets can

be obtained free in advance by presenting four
camping tickets. Otherwise they cost €20 in advance
or €30 upon arrival. Random car searches will take
place and ALL vans will be searched on site.

Security personnel are present at all times in the

Car Parks to monitor any suspicious behaviour.
However, promoters are not responsible for any
loss or damage caused so everyone should take
basic precautions to hide all valuables from sight.

 ECO FRIENDLY OXEGEN
OXEGEN’s innovative measures to reduce the
festival’s impact on the environment has won
praise from Eamon Ryan TD, the Minister
for Communications, Energy and Natural
Resources who said:
‘’I welcome the efforts made by the
organisers to reduce the environmental
impact of the festival.
Whether its by getting on the bus, sipping
from your Eco Cup or snoozing in a
greener tent, OXEGEN is heading in a
direction which makes it easier to do the
right thing and have a good time. I hope
that there will be plenty of solar energy
over the weekend to top things off.’’
OXEGEN is dedicated to environmentally conscious
behavior. With the increased awareness of the
impact we are making on our environment, it is
vital to acknowledge this and OXEGEN have many
initiatives in place.
CarbonNeutral®
For the first time, this year’s OXEGEN will be
100% CarbonNeutral®. We are working closely
with The CarbonNeutral Company to measure the
carbon dioxide (CO2) – the main greenhouse gas
contributing to climate change - produced from the
festival, to look at ways to reduce these impacts and
to offset all unavoidable emissions that remain to
make OXEGEN CarbonNeutral®.
OXEGEN’s CO2 emissions are generated by energy
use, waste, diesel and even the artist, crew and fans
travel and will be offset by two renewable energy
initiatives: the Sebenoba-Karakurt Wind
Power Project and the Rhine-Ruhr Waste
Gas Power Project in Turkey.
OXEGEN’s CarbonNeutral® assessment will be
revised annually and work will continue year round
to identify ways in which CO2 emissions can be

As the single largest cause of CO2 emissions at
OXEGEN is associated with travel, fans are strongly
urged to consider using one of the excellent public
transport options to get to Punchestown.
Bus Eireann will be running express services from
destinations around the country and Dublin Bus will
operate a shuttle service from Parnell Square West,
Dublin 1.
Car drivers can use the Free Park and Ride sites, and
take the free shuttle bus to OXEGEN.
Those wishing to drive are encouraged to car
share and as an incentive a free parking ticket is
provided when presenting four camping tickets at
any Ticketmaster outlet. For full details on public

In order to work towards lower Carbon emissions,
OXEGEN has also appointed a dedicated
eco-consultant, Dylan Townsend who will analyze
all of OXEGEN’s working practices and implement
procedures that will ultimately result in a greener
and more efficient festival. Dylan has a strong
background in environmental journalism and is a
member of the team for the prestigious and ambitious
Challenge Europe initiative; which aims to reduce
Ireland’s carbon footprint and increase food and
energy security through new policies and actions.
Stop Climate Chaos
Stop Climate Chaos will also be returning to the
festival again this year for another busy weekend
of environmental campaigning. Stop Climate
Chaos is a coalition of civil society organizations
campaigning to ensure Ireland plays its part in
preventing runaway climate change.

Last year, 40 Stop Climate Chaos campaigners
gathered an amazing 15,000 signatures for its
petition which calls on the government to urgently
tackle Ireland’s woeful record on greenhouse gas
emissions. The campaign also calls for Ireland to
support developing countries adapt to the impacts
of climate change. This year the coalition is hoping
to surpass the number of petition signatures
gathered which will be presented to the Department
of Environment.

The OXEGEN Eco-Cup
Landfill waste from this year’s festival will be
significantly reduced by the introduction of the
ecologically-sound OXEGEN Eco-Cup. The
Eco-Cup replaces plastic or paper cups with hard
plastic cups which can be used over 100 times
before being fully recycled. Compared to alternative
cups, the OXEGEN Eco Cup is between 4 and 20
times more environmentally friendly.

For those camping, a number of eco-friendly
options are available. In the Green Campsite,
fans can choose from the quirky Podpads with
their sunflower solar panels or the comfortable
MyHabs, made from recycled plastic and water-
proof cardboard. Tangerine Fields also return
offering fans the chance to book a ready pitched
and equipped tent. At the end of the weekend,
Tangerine Fields will donate all used sleeping
bags to homeless charity, the Dublin Simon
Community as well as recycling all tents.
In the red and blue campsites, Scouting Ireland
will also be collecting sleeping bags on Monday to
lighten your load for the trip home which they will be
laundering and donating to Focus Ireland who are
involved in combating homelessness in Ireland.

Customers purchasing a drink at any of the bars can

pay a €3 deposit for the Eco-Cup on top of the drink
cost for only their first drink. When buying further
drinks the customer exchanges their old cup for a
new one at no extra cost and at the end of the night
people have a choice of either a full refund or taking
the cup home with them.

Bio Degradable Packaging

Irish owned company Earthstream Bio Packaging
will also be offering all OXEGEN food vendors
the opportunity to use bio-degradable packaging.
Traditional plastic packaging can take over 400
years to bio-degrade fully, whereas Earthstream
products use renewable materials that bio-degrade
within 180 days.

 CAMPING INFO & FACILITIES
Opening at 12 noon on Thursday and closing
at 6pm on Monday, OXEGEN’s campsites are
open 24 hours between these times. This section
details the range of camping options and facilities
available onsite over the course of the weekend.
It is recommended that festival goers camp in the
campsite that corresponds with their car park pass.
The red campsite is more convenient for the red
car park and the blue campsite is more convenient
for the blue car park. As campsites start filling up,
campers will be moved to the next available area.
Campers are not permitted to camp in the car park
or in fire lanes; if they do this their belongings will
be removed and while we try to take care of your
belongings we will not be responsible for them.
For those OXEGEN fans that haven’t got all the
camping essentials with them, there’s a range of
options. Joe Bananas have been providing
OXEGEN with the original tent collection service
for three years now, and it’s back better than ever.
They’ve lowered their prices and expect to save
even more people the back ache of carrying their
camping equipment into the festival. Campers can
simply log on to www.oxegen.joe-bananas.com and
book their camping kit online.
The Cosy Camper store also offers several
comprehensive festival camping packages that
provide the necessities of festival camping life
with none of the hassle. All camping sets include
bedding and lighting. Check out their website
at www.CosyCamper.co.uk where you will find
everything you need and a bit more for a fun and
funky festival experience.
Campers can even purchase those forgotten festival
necessities at the Centra Convenience stores.
Whether it is toothpaste, a newspaper, water or
paracetamol, festival goers can find everything they
need here. However, prescription medicines will not

be available so any medicines such as inhalers need
to be brought to the festival.
The FREE hot showers return to OXEGEN again this
year as well as some other great facilities to ensure
OXEGEN’s fans are the best groomed festival-goers
this summer. The Pull Parlour salon will provide a
full range of beauty treatments. Their pampering
expertise extends to haircuts, styling, crazy hair
extensions, relaxing massage’s, funky make-up,
mad eyelashes, eyebrow shaping, lash tinting and
lots more exciting treatments.
This year OXEGEN is bringing mobile composting
toilets to eco-conscious campers thanks to Comfy
Crappers. These fresh, clean and hygienic
toilets are environmentally friendly and, unlike the
chemical toilets, they require no chemicals or water
at any stage of the process.
Solid waste generated is separated out at the
source, thus removing the unpleasant smells often
associated with the chemical toilet, and composted
for two years to produce good quality soil used to
grow flowers and other lovely things.
The constant flow of clean air throughout the cubicle
also ensures a more pleasant visit. The toilets are
kept clean and in working order by a full team of
supervisors over the course of the weekend.
An Post are proudly bringing your local Post
Office to this year’s OXEGEN festival. The Post
Office will be located in the red campsite, providing
essential and relevant services festival goers will
need. An Post have also produced a special edition
postcard for OXEGEN that fans can customize and
send to all their envious friends!

An Post’s services will include: top up for all
mobile phone networks with no commission; cash
withdrawal for AIB and Postbank customers; Lotto,
with late night opening for the Euro Millions and
Lotto draws on the Friday and Saturday evenings;
Western Union for money transfer for those who
might run out of funds and registered post to send
passports and driving licenses home safely.
Fans need not worry about looking after their
valuables at OXEGEN this year as Lockerbox
will be providing a secure and convenient method
of safekeeping. Put your keys, cards, cameras and
other stuff in your locker and enjoy the festival. The
lockers are guarded and during opening times will
be continuously accessible. Fans can visit

a personal locker now.
First aid and welfare tents are available in
both the red and blue campsites for campers who
need any medical attention or who feel distressed at
any point over the weekend.
The Green (Luxury) Campsite
The green campsite provides a more luxurious stay
with showers, toilets and a convenient location
close to the parking areas; the is the perfect way
to experience OXEGEN with a little bit of extra
comfort. With a range of Yurts, Teepees and
other varieties of alternative accommodation this
campsite is perfect for the discerning camper.
Provided by Tangerine Fields (www.tangerinefields.
co.uk), the Yurts and Teepees are pre-constructed
on site so campers simply need to turn up with their
sleeping bag and other necessities.
New for 2008, is the latest innovation in camping,
MyHab; eco-friendly, hassle free and affordable
luxury festival accommodation that offers cool living
in the day and comfort at night (www.myhab.com).
There is also the latest festival living with Podpads
(www.podpads.com). Hobbit style housing provides
festival goers with a true home from home over the
course of the weekend. These weatherproof plywood
houses are kitted out with a groundsheet, a fitted
carpet, shelving, interior lighting, a power socket
and a lock on the front door.

Those fans who wish to use the green
campsite need to purchase their chosen
accommodation in advance and must also
have purchased an OXEGEN red or blue
camping ticket, which will be valid for the
Green campsite when presented together
with a Green accommodation booking.
Campervans
The other option is to stay in a Campervan in the
specially designated Campervan area. Campervan
tickets cost €60 and guarantee a more comfortable
weekend. Up to four people are permitted per
campervan unless it is a 6 berth van, and every
person must be in possession of a weekend camping
ticket. The vehicle has to have living accommodation
with fitted sleeping facilites and either fitted cooking
or washing facilities. Even if a campervan ticket has

OXEGEN is renowned for an impressive line up of
the hottest new acts and more established rock and
dance acts. In addition to this, OXEGEN makes
the weekend one to remember with a range of
additional attractions and facilities, details of which
follow in this section.
Xbox Live Stage
Boasting a massive 46 sq m, high-quality LED
cinema screen, the Xbox Live Stage will become
a focal point for festival-goers as it will feature live
performances and VJ sets from the likes of MTV’s
Eclectic Method as well as screenings of some
top movies and TV shows.
The Xbox Live Stage will be a popular
destination with film buffs as it’ll be showing some
top movies, including Will Smith’s recent Sci-Fi
smash I Am Legend, popular classics such as
Lethal Weapon and National Lampoon’s
European Vacation and the anarchic genius of
South Park – Bigger, Longer,Uncut. The Big
Screen will also give fans the chance to test their
competitive edge with some great games including
arcade classics like Sonic the Hedgehog, Pacman,
Sensible Soccer and the movie quiz, Scene It. The
Xbox Live Stage will kick off proceedings at 12
noon on Thursday, and run from 10am each day of
the festival until late. Set in an natural amphitheatre,
the stage is the ideal place to kick back and relax
for a bit.
If that wasn’t enough, Xbox 360 will also take
to the main stage at OXEGEN this year with EA
Game’s massively popular Rock Karaoke game
‘Rock Band’. Offering festival-goers the chance to
pick the songs to sing along to and rock the world,
this is festival fun at its finest. With a massive range
of artists, bands and tracks to choose from, this
is your chance to show the world your rock god
credentials.

The Red Bull Vert Ramp
Some of the world’s best skaters have been invited
by Red Bull to perform a series of gravity defying
demonstrations throughout the three days of
OXEGEN. The riders will perform on the Red
Bull Vert Ramp which has been used as the
playground for professional Skateboarders in such
events as X-Games and the World Skateboarding
Championships in recent years. This enormous
structure, which comes for the second time to Ireland,
has proved daunting to the world’s best riders in the
past standing 10m high, 15m wide and 14.2m in
length, completely covered over with clear ‘window’
panels and open on both sides for public viewing.
The Heineken Greenspace
If you want to take a break from the hustle and
bustle of the crowd, step into Greenspace and enjoy
the best view of the second stage. There are the
Greenspace big screens serving up a live feed, so
you miss nothing. To finish it off, Greenspace is a
bluetooth active area where over the course of the
weekend Heineken Music will be literally giving
away all kinds of exclusive festival goodies.
Bacardi B-Live Arena
Back at OXEGEN again this year, The Bacardi
B-Live Arena offers an eclectic mix of music
and Latin spirit. A cocktail of music and dancing is
accompanied with mouth watering Bacardi cocktails
to entice the up for it OXEGEN crowd. For more

OXEGEN wants festival goers to have fun in a
responsible manner. Drinkaware.ie will be
present to help broadcast that all important safe
drinking message to make sure revellers enjoy the
weekend without mishap.

The Hot Press Signing Tent
No record, CD, piece of paper or body part will be
deemed un-autographable as some of OXEGEN’s
biggest names grace the Hot Press Signing Tent,
which has been added to the attractions at this
year’s festival. Running throughout the Punchestown
three-dayer, it’s your chance to get up close and
maybe personal with your favourite artists.
The Festival Funfairs
Festival goers can again experience adrenaline
rushes at the festival funfairs. This year’s
OXEGEN will feature two large funfairs, one located
in the main arena and one in the Blue Campsite.
Among the many hair-raising thrills will be two
of Europe’s largest travelling slingshots with masts
standing at 45 metres high – they’ll catapult the
bravest OXEGEN fans to speeds reaching over
160Kph! Adrenaline junkies can also have a go
on one of the two boosters which spin you round
and round at awesome speeds. Other attractions
include bumping cars, a giant Ferris Wheel and a
ghost train. The House Of Terrors will also scare the
living wits out of all who enter! With over 20 major
fairground rides, rodeo bulls and lots of games
and stalls, this year’s OXEGEN Funfairs will be the
biggest ever.
Bui Bolg
This year’s OXEGEN site will become a gigantic
pop-art installation as Bui Bolg have been
commissioned by OXEGEN to produce some
innovative inflatable sculptures which will act as ‘site
markers’. Their work uses pop art influences with
super-sizing, cartoon like outlines and bright zingy
colours to create bizarre inflatable artworks which
will help festival goers navigate around the site.
The artwork will help create a visual 3d map for the
festival and provides a visual stimulus to match that
of the music. Installations include a giant blow up
letters for the campsite, a lock to help festival goers
locate the lockers and a shower to tell them… well,
you get the picture. Bui Bolg have also designed
OXEGEN entrances resembling a ‘rock age’
Stonehenge and the site will be outlined with giant
‘rock’ keyboards, speakers, and guitar fret boards
in the style of Ogham stones.

Campsite Entertainment
As well as a funfair being located within the blue
campsite for the first time ever, there’s a whole host
of great things to do within the campsites.
The Swamp Circus Theatre
The Swamp Theatre’s Big Top will host a
specially-created show to entertain, thrill and delight
campers. The show will feature a dazzling array
of entertainment including The Cloghoppers,
the smallest banjo orchestra in the world, with
the biggest unicycle tricks and the aerial artistry
of Emily Rose. Throw in to the mix a hint of
flamenco, spectacular acrobatics and some heat
provided by Big Grae’s fire freakery and you’ve got
one explosive show. The show will run during the
mornings and afternoons throughout the 4 days of
OXEGEN and should prove a popular destination
with campers.
The Swamp Circus Theatre will also be taking
their enthralling creations out and about around
OXEGEN. Featuring stilt-walking oddities and
bizarre characters including tree walking tall, the
Flouro Faerie and the Mystic Crystal Ball Man, The
Swamp Circus is sure to bring a real sense of the
spectacular to this year’s mega festival.
The Headphone Disco
Taking over the circus tent at night-time, The
Headphone Disco is a simple concept with a
spectacular affect. Festival goers can get hold of
a set of wireless headphones and will then have
two separate DJ’s broadcast to them live via two
dedicated FM channels. The club runs as normal
with lights, special effects and, of course, dancing
but with no sound coming from any external
speakers! Clubbers can either throw on a headset
and get into the groove or stand back and marvel at
a load of people dancing and singing along to a DJ
that only they can hear. The fun really starts when
you start listening out for people singing the wrong
lyrics, the wrong songs, or just plain singing wrong,
while oblivious to the fact that all around them can
hear them loud and clear! Headphone Disco
has to be seen to be believed and will definitely
become a late night favourite for fans at this year’s
Punchestown extravaganza.

Thursday night campers can also look forward to
some retro rock delights at The Rocking Back
The Clock Stage. This stage will feature some
of the best tribute acts playing a host of hits from
your favourite bands including The Stone Roses
Experience and ACDC cover band Hells Bells.
The Rocking Back The Clock Stage will be
located just outside the blue campsite and is running
on Thursday night only.

Fans with Thursday camping tickets can also look

forward to a special Batman night at The giant
Xbox Live Screen. The Xbox Live Stage will kick
off proceedings at 12 noon on Thursday, and run
from 10am each day of the festival until late.

Smoky Tentacles
Supplying the finest fairly traded coffee, chai and
the best music until the small hours start getting
big again, this is the place where all the scattered
pieces come back together. Housed in a beautiful
Moroccan marquee, Smoky Tentacles provide the
ultimate chill-out space for the party goer to lounge
back on pillows and rugs, talk nonsense and meet
new friends.

With guest appearances from wandering musicians

and spontaneous live sets from a staff of poets,
performers and people that just like dressing up,
Smoky Tentacles is the perfect place to chill out by
day or warm up by night!

Bluetooth
This year, OXEGEN’s Bluetooth service has been
comprehensively upgraded and can now deliver
graphic, text and video files straight to mobile.
Content can be downloaded from the Bluetooth
hotspots situated around the site and fans can
download everything from stage line-ups and times
to the sitemap and safety information.

OXEGEN, fans will be able to enjoy the widest
selection of delicious, healthy food that’s great value
for money.
With 7 stages, over 150 bands and a wide range
of entertainment including funfairs, a cinema and
The Red Bull Local Hero Skate Tour, OXEGEN fans
are going to have an incredibly busy weekend so
it’s vital that they keep their energy levels topped up.
Whether you’re a fan of traditional Irish fare or
have more exotic tastes, OXEGEN has something
for everyone.
As any Irish mother will tell you, breakfast is
the most important meal of the day and this is
especially true if the day ahead includes dashing
between 7 stages to try and cram in as many of
your favourite bands as possible! And OXEGEN’s
got it covered. Campers can head to Tea & Toast
where they’ll find the perfect morning after cure
with the ultimate in comfort eating. For a healthy
alternative, you can’t beat a Bagel and with over 30
flavours, Bagel Factory should have something
for everyone. And Callum’s Real Coffee will be
the perfect pick-me-up offering coffees, smoothies
and juices.
But if you’re not really a morning person, then you
won’t even have to crawl too far from your tent as
the guys from Steamy Tea will have their special
tea & coffee dispensing backpacks on hand to serve
up hot beverages for campers.
So once you’ve got breakfast sorted, what’s on offer
for the rest of the day?
This year’s OXEGEN has wide selection of
international cuisine on offer. There’s tasty Italian
at Pasta Mista, delicious nachos, burritos and
tacos from the excellent Taco Man and the cleverly
named Flaming Cactus.

Sizzling stir-fries and other oriental dishes will also
be available from Wok ’n’ Roll and if you want
to eat food that’s first choice with many of the bands,
festival veterans Now & Zen will once again have
a fantastic choice of Chinese dishes. Aya will also be

More traditional fare will also be available.
Seacow is regularly chosen as one of London’s
best fish and chip restaurants and they’ll be frying
up a storm at OXEGEN this year. If you need some
good sustenance to keep you going festival favs
Abrakebabra have got it covered with their
hearty kebabs and no Irish festival experience
would be complete without the mandatory burger
and chips, available from a variety of vendors
throughout the site. Kiosk Man will have shops
dotted all over the site too with confectionary, drinks
and other essentials.
Open air barbeques could be just the ticket and
Fireworx will have a massive German style bbq
ready to grill the tastiest meat and veg. Spit roasted
pork will be on offer too from Eat Fat Pig and
The Celtic Hog Company.
OXEGEN offers a wonderful showcase to promote
the best in Irish produce and cuisine and The Real
Irish Burger Company and The Real Irish
Sausage Company use only the best quality
Irish beef and pork in their delicious food.
We’re all more concerned about what we eat these
days and many of the OXEGEN food outlets will
stock wholesome organic and ethically sourced
produce. For example, all of The Splendid
Chicken Company’s burgers contain free range
and organic meat and fair-trade coffee will be
available from a variety of vendors throughout the
site. Festival favourites Goodness Gracious will
also be making sure vegetarians and vegans are
well catered for and Moon Food will have a great

 OXEGEN HISTORY
2004
The first OXEGEN took place at Punchestown
Racecourse in the summer of 2004, bringing
some world class bands such as The Strokes, The
Libertines, Franz Ferdinand, Scissor Sisters, Muse,
Snow Patrol and The Cure to Ireland.
OXEGEN’s always had an eye for the best
new talent and 2004 began a fine tradition of
showcasing the hottest new bands with The Killers
and Razorlight among those appearing on The New
Bands Stage.
Organisers, fans and critics alike agreed that
OXEGEN’s debut was a resounding success.
2005
The following year saw OXEGEN’s sold out crowd
enjoy a sun soaked weekend of incredible music.
Green Day, Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone
Age rocked Punchestown while cult heroes New
Order and The La’s wowed fans with fantastic sets.
Festival-goers were kept dancing throughout the
weekend with performances from dance behemoths
The Prodigy and LSD Soundsystem.
2006
OXEGEN ’06 witnessed The Who’s first Irish show
in over three decades. Soul legend James Brown
played what was to be his last ever performance at
an Irish festival and Arctic Monkeys confirmed their
reputation as the world’s hottest new band.
Other bands on the bill included Red Hot Chilli
Peppers, Kasabian, Editors, Sigur Ros, Primal
Scream and Lily Allen.
Facilities for festival-goers were further improved in
2006, with more toilets and the introduction of hot
showers – a first for any Irish festival and a firm hit
with campers.

2007
Voted one of NME’s top three festivals, last year’s
OXEGEN returned with an impressive line-up and
some fantastic new features.
Headliners Muse and The Killers delivered stunning
shows and other bands to rock Punchestown
included Snow Patrol, Scissor Sisters, Daft Punk,
Razorlight, Arcade Fire and outstanding new talent
in the shape of CSS, The Gossip and Klaxons.
The Green campsite made it’s debut in 2007, with
a host of luxury camping options available for the
discerning festival-goer.
2008
Punchestown Racecourse will once again open its
gates this July to 70,000 campers and 10,000 day
trippers. Headliners Kings of Leon, REM and Rage
Against the Machine are joined by over 150 acts
including The Verve, Amy Winehouse, Kaiser Chiefs
and The Prodigy.
OXEGEN is now renowned as much for its quality
of camping and entertainment as the great music on
offer. And this year, fans can begin their OXEGEN
experience by camping on Thursday night (10th
July) with three days of music from Friday 11th to
Sunday 13th July.
Not content with providing a top notch line-up,
OXEGEN has many other delights on offer. The
more discerning gig goer is spoilt for choice with
food from a range of countries across the world
and a host of luxury and eco camping options are
offered in the green campsite. When you’re not
soaking up the fantastic music on offer, satisfy your
adrenaline craving at the festival funfairs or kick

Travel Routes
1. Traffic from the M1, N2, N3 and N4 will travel
via the M50 to the N7 (Dublin/Limerick Road).
Traffic will travel from the N7 (Exit 9) into Naas
and onto the Blessington Road via the R410 and
onto Punchestown Racecourse.
2. Traffic travelling from South Dublin can travel via
the N11, N81 (Tallaght/Blessington Rd) through
Blessington, continue on the N81 southbound to
Ballymore Eustace (R411) and the follow direction
signage to Punchestown Racecourse.
3. Traffic from the South East (N9, N78, N80, M9)
can travel via the Carlow or Athy routes through
Kilcullen and onto the Naas Rd. At a landmark
called Raffertys Mill (Naas to Kilcullen Rd) traffic
will turn right and onto Punchestown Racecourse.
4. Traffic from the South/South West can travel via

A one-way traffic system will operate throughout
the event for all buses and minibuses only. All
such vehicles will arrive at Punchestown via the
Blessington Road/Beggars End route (R410) and
will exit via the Ballymore Road/Watch House Cross
route (R411). They will be permitted to enter the site
via the Beggars End Gate (Gate 2) and exit via the
Main Gate (Gate 3).

Park and Ride Centres
An Garda Siochana and MCD (Event Promoters)
wish to urge all patrons attending the event to use
the enhanced Park and Ride facilities available for
this years event. The Park and Ride facilities will
be serviced by a dedicated fleet of coaches that
will cater for all campers needs. All Park and Ride
coaches will travel on dedicated routes and will
receive priority both to / from the venue.
The Park and Ride Centres will be open from
Thursday 10th July on a 24hr basis until Monday
14th July. The also Park and Ride Centres be used
for persons who wish to drop off and collect patrons
attending the concerts. The park and ride facility will
be FREE OF CHARGE and all shuttles to/from will be
FREE OF CHARGE.
The park and ride facilities will be as follows:

Goffs (North) Park and Ride site is located approx.
5km north of Naas on the main Dublin to Naas Rd
(N7) and accessed by travelling from North and

Interchange, Exit 8 off the N7.
