PRISPA team

It’s new.

Define us in terms of numbers and you will get about 50 people. And counting.
Define us in terms of goals and you will get about 50 people fully
dedicated to nature and educ ation in every way.
As our primary focus were knowledge, educ ation and gaining experience, engaging in
an international competition such as Solar Decathlon Europe was more of a statement
of our multidisciplinary, than a simple enrollment process. This stateme nt supported our
already established goals and plans for the Romanian society, so it was only natural for us
to start working more thoroughly and put our creativity and determination to good use.
June 2010 saw PRISPA team kick starting the project, encouraging students
majoring in subjects varying from architecture, engineering or product design to
communication and marketing to be a part of the project and share our enthusiasm.
Before the team in its current structure was organized, and before PRISPA Association
was created, we had an initial management unit that steered the team into a certain
direction. Currently, all the tasks of the Management Unit have been taken over by
the Board of Directors from PRISPA Association. Thus, it was the Management Unit’s
task to initiate a day of team building, which aimed to foster awareness of what team
spirit is and to prompt commitment to the common targets and goals of the team.

Mission statement

It’s bold.
Our mission is to create and promote a market-oriented house that can fulfill the conditions
our clients ask for: safety, comfort and most important, low price. As a participant at the
Solar Decathlon Europe, Romania’s team, PRISPA, has reached its first and utmost important
goal: to prove we too can develop a sustainable and ecological project. What we provide to
the real estate is the first, but determined step to an environment-friendly client service.

Our greatest work... in progress.

construction is concerned, the main goals are to achieve energy
efficiency in a comfortable lifestyle and to produce electrical
energy with BIPV solutions. It is important for us to integrate
technology in architecture, especially our energy solutions of
the roof and façades. Besides reducing the energy consumption,
it is important to create a healthy indoor environment. We
have chosen simple and sustainable materials like wood and
a mixture of loam and clay, to ensure local manufacture and
thus a friendly attitude towards the environment. Metals
will be carefully used as ultimately necessary resources,
for example iron joints for solid foundation in structure.

6 PRISPA Team
In terms of information dissemination, a key event to our team’s progress was our first official
presentation. We recently attended the general meeting of the National Council of the
Romanian Order of Architects (OAR) were we presented our audience details on both the
competition itself (its goals and general profile - standards, organizers, tasks, evaluation
criteria) and Romania’s first participation. We enco untered very enthusiastic people, thrilled
to meet the team that will place a winner’s sticker next to Romania’s name. We asked for their
support and they were more than glad to offer their know-how and experience. We explained
the way we have come together and how we have been working so far, obtaining a verbal
agreement from the board of OAR for their support and collaboration in this competition.
All in all, we have so far put together our main ideas and creativity to generate our
leading concept: PRISPA. Faced with our first Deliverable, we are happy to have
seen a collaborative effort from all our team members and crew. The universities
have started working well together, guiding their students, and last but not least
our minds are shaping up the PRISPA with more and more vivid imagery.
